So neither closing down pipelines, nor jacking up the cost for drilling, nor releasing Federal oil reserves, will have any effect on gas prices?

Where did you study economics? I'd like to review your study materials.

Pipelines between Canada and not-USA -- so what?

Don't remember anything about higher costs for drilling. i do recall some auctions for new drilling leases being canceled. It takes a long time to develop those new resources. So, no impact there (at least not yet).

Releasing the oil reserve? A drop in the bucket. Minimal impact.

Do political actions by Congress and the President have long term impacts, sure, just like the do for the overall economy.

If you want to find the politician that is most affecting the price of oil look to a fellow named "MBS". He apparently doesn't like being called out for human rights abuses and has throttled oil production.

Some do. Others can afford trucks. I find it to be insensitive to call the working poor fools; as they try to scratch by with the rising costs of doing business.

Blaming gas prices on presidents is hardly a qualification for MENSA....

Fact check: Is Biden to blame for high gas prices? - CNNPolitics

"At this point, there is no plausible connection between Biden becoming president and the increasing gasoline prices," Severin Borenstein, a professor of Business Administration and Public Policy at the University of California Berkeley said."

"Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, a website that tracks the price of gas, also suggested the rising gas prices are due to a recent increase in demand following the decrease caused by the pandemic, not any policy changes by the President.
"This is not a political issue. It's more of a Covid-19 challenge simply because of how Covid-19 decimated fuel demand last year,"

LOL! Why would I trust CNN for a fact check; when I can't trust them to get their facts straight?

Brilliant refutation of the arguments presented. I see no more reason to argue with you.

because most likely the person who is calling it childish is mad because they voted that administration into office.

I called it childish because it is childish. It displays a simplistic, at best nonexistent at worst, understanding of economics and the powers of the presidency to influence the price of oil and therefore gasoline. Content aside it is also childish to deface others property.

While I cast my vote against Trump I cannot be said to have helped put Biden in office or evict Trump from it as due to my state rather than I having a say in who becomes president my vote was discarded.

The problem as you know is that people shouldn't take it personally when the person they voted for doesn't live up to what they had hoped, afterall it's not like it's they themselves who have failed but rather the administration. People need to see it's ok to admit they were wrong in who they voted into office, admitting mistakes is actually a Christian practice we do it all the time to God when we realize we've messed up.

I do not think I was wrong to vote the way that I did. It was the less awful of the options I was presented with.

Nevertheless, I have faith in your ability to figure it out.

It appears that you are presenting a fallacious attribution of the love of physical work and the outdoors, to lack of intellect; but I don't want to jump to conclusions.

Pipeline from Canada to U.S..

The Keystone pipeline is for exporting Canadian oil through the US to other places. The pipeline across the upper Michigan caries Canadian oil to other parts of Canada.

It's front page news. You might want to look into it.

Maybe I don't live in oil drilling country. (Or don't read newspapers.) I still don't know what you speak of.

So all of those kudos to Obama, for doing just that, was just Liberal propaganda?

It was pointless then and it is pointless now. I'm not in charge of the "Liberal propaganda".

The Keystone pipeline is for exporting Canadian oil through the US to other places. The pipeline across the upper Michigan caries Canadian oil to other parts of Canada.

President Biden’s decision to nix the Keystone XL pipeline has come under renewed fire as the administration struggles with rising consumer frustration over skyrocketing gas prices.

Sen. Joe Manchin III, West Virginia Democrat, made another plea for Mr. Biden to reverse his Jan. 20 executive order revoking the $8 billion pipeline expansion after the president announced Tuesday he would release 50 million barrels from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve.

Biden dogged by decision to kill Keystone XL pipeline as gas prices soar

Is this Senator misinformed; or is this all for theater?

Maybe I don't live in oil drilling country. (Or don't read newspapers.) I still don't know what you speak of.

Interior report calls on Biden to raise costs of oil and gas drilling on federal land

It was pointless then and it is pointless now. I'm not in charge of the "Liberal propaganda".

Biden orders release of strategic oil reserves, says high gas prices not caused by clean-energy push

So this is nothing more than a ruse to trick the public into thinking that he doing something in the face of this crisis?

Same as it ever was. (Re: strategic oil reserve)

[Edit: $3 gas isn't a "crisis". It's been that high before and will be so again after it falls in the near term.]

Maybe we'll see the prices come down again when we have another Republican President. It seems that Democrats love it when Big Oil makes huge profits.
