Oh, is it Covid panic season already? And I still haven't put up any Christmas decorations.

More seriously, just stop. After two years, all this panic frenzy has gotten really old.

I'm vaccinated but you said this new flu bypasses the vaccines.

If it bypasses the current vaccines then why make people take it?

Stop panicking. Trust in God.

If my time is up, then so be it.

But you just said "This one can bypass our vaccines" so why would anyone get a vaccine if it doesn't work? Might want to get facts straight before posting. Either it bypasses vaccines or vaccines help protect, can't be both ways.

In South Africa it has been detected in Guateng province - positivity rates in Tshwane (part of Guateng) have increased massively in the last 3 weeks from less than 1% to over 30%. 3/16

Because of this increase, COVID sequencing has been concentrated on samples from Guateng. Almost all recent samples from there (77) have been this new variant (blue dots) - taking over from a background of Delta (red) and C.1.2 (also a concerning variant, yellow).

There’s yet another covid-19 variant on the prowl and it’s got scientists worried.

The B.1.1.529 strain, first detected in Botswana, is now spreading fast in various pockets of South Africa. Genome sequencing suggests nearly 75% of all the new cases belong to this category, almost entirely replacing the prevalent delta variant, according to epidemiologists.

This new variant, B.1.1.529 seems to spread very quick! In less than 2 weeks now dominates all infections following a devastating Delta wave in South Africa (Blue new variant, now at 75% of last genomes and soon to reach 100%)

From what I've been able to read about this ... its impact upon world health is still being evaluated.

An extreme concern for this variant ... is the high number of mutations it has. Whether that's for the better or worse ... is yet to be determined.

I find some hope, in the finding that the variant is still fairly isolated ... only one case found outside of South Africa so far. That argues for some degree of limitation ... upon its transmissibility ...

It's could bypass vaccines because many people are refusing to mitigate the virus either by vaccines and/or mask wearing. We are in this mess because of these people.

These people are the reason the Delta variant exists

The new COVID-19 variant, B.1.1.529, likely to be named the Nu variant, that was first discovered in southern Africa this week, has been recorded in Israel, the country's Health Ministry said Friday morning.

The variant was discovered in a person who returned to Israel from Malawi. Two cases of other returnees from abroad were also suspected to be infected with the variant, the ministry said. Genetic tests are being carried out to determine whether the other two people are also infected. All three people are in quarantine.

All three people were vaccinated, and the Health Ministry said that the details of their vaccination are being verified.

It's a fact that people refused to wear masks and socially distance themselves (still gather in congregate settings) since the beginning of this pandemic in 2020.

That's because they were immunocompromised due to HIV/AIDS...which his heavily prevalent in Africa. And the fact that around 35% of people in S.A. are vaccinated doesn't help matters much.

There are several points to be made:

Covid has been over-hyped from the beginning
Remember all the field hospitals and medical ships in NYC when Covid first arrived there? Remember all the fear and panic? Remember how it all eventually came to...not much? Field hospitals and the medical ships were little used, if at all.

The news media is not trustworthy
The news media can't even report the facts of the Rittenhouse case right, even after a much-publicized trial. The news media clearly has their own agenda, and it involves spreading Covid panic. And let's throw social media censorship into this part, too.

Give me liberty, or give me death
I would much, much rather deal with whatever Covid can do to me than deal with this slow creep of governmental totalitarianism that is happening due to Covid panic.
