Which is why I had suggested elsewhere that Biden should have selected Obama as his VP, and then set the record for the shortest inauguration speech: "Thank you, and I resign."

Of course, it never would've worked without getting the Supreme Court drunk, but watching the Right's heads explode would have been worth it.

There was no presidential term limit during his lifetime, the twenty second amendment was ratified in 1951.

Nope, the limits on terms was put in specifically after FDR being elected 4 terms.

the 2 term limit was derived from Washington, who would have easily won a third term, but did not like the thought of a long term president. Considering the usual service requirements to become president, I can't say he wasn't likely correct.

There is issue with that. There is a lot of know how and know who that goes into making the sausage (laws).

You want experienced people making those decisions and votes.

But you don't want full lifers.

My rather meager proposal is a 30 year limit on congress. There are simply too many outdated folk in there clogging up the works.

The fact that a presidential term limit did not exist during FDRs tenure and he stayed in office by reelection sounds like a plan? No, that's history, not a plan.
