You don't think that a gay bar is "reputable"?

Peddling alcohol isn't the kind of business I'd want to show my children how to operate. I'd take them to a barbershop or hair salon or small retail store.

C'mon, you know there would be far better choices if the only item on the agenda were showing the kids how small business worked. You're being disingenuous.

I honestly don't know. I don't think we ever visited a business when I was in school. I remember little except walking through forests for hours and then staring at some old ruin or quarry.

You don't know? If your kid's teacher sent home a permission slip for you to sign for your child to visit a local business (and solicit you to volunteer as a chaperone), stating that they were going to visit a local bar...you wouldn't know whether you'd prefer them visit some other kind of business?

Honestly... no. Around here the line between "bar" and "restaurant" is pretty much non-existent. We go to bars and breweries all the time with my kids (well, not so much anymore because my son can't sit still anymore, but my daughter was always good to bring along). Heck, there's a bar/brewery down the street that has a whole playground for kids. Another one has one of its walls abutting a playground and they had it painted with a screen so movies could be projected on it for neighborhood movie nights. Some of the bars are very active participants in neighborhood events, etc and are strong parts of the fabric of the community. So, no, it wouldn't strike me as particularly odd.

Over here in germany, the stigma against alcohol is far lower than in the USA.

I didn't say that.

But observation of small sole proprietorships will translate into basic business lessons more easily learned than large operations.

Having seen your posts I'm going to guess that this school would not be one you would send your kids to in any case. It seems a bit to liberal for your tastes. :)

I think it's clear that they had more items on their agenda than simply teaching kids about business.

It was pointed out that they specifically were looking for an LGBT business so I think that is a given.

I am referring to a couple recent cases at school board meeting where parents read and showed depictions of such things as a minor boy performing on a man - graphic recounts of two ten year old boy having sex and the like. Along with the increasingly common use of vulgarity in minors literature.

Is this what our world is coming to?

I cannot link them because of forum rules, but the videos and public meetings are findable.

this seems to be an ever increasing issue among Democratically controlled areas.

Do you support the dissemination of sexually explicit materials to minor children?

Here is the topic of the thread - seems to have gotten lost.
