Do you celebrate Christmas?

During my walk I have come to a point where I no longer celebrate Christmas or any of the mainstream holidays. I've more obviously noticed that pretty much all the Christians I cross paths with celebrate. I've found it hard to meet others who don't. I'm hoping to make friends who are more similar to me as a Christian and it's been hard. So my question is, do you?

Yes I celebrate it and have spent a decent chunk of time dealing with those who Crusade against it with talk of pagan origins and such.
I've had similar experiences with those who celebrate going hard core against me when I explain why I don't. They often get very defensive. Hopefully we have better experiences in the future.

I love celebrating Christmas, but prefer to keep it simple.
To enjoy Christmas, it is not necessary to go silly with the present buying, or to stockpile on food and drink as if there were no tomorrow.
There are things in life that money cannot buy. Our families, our friends, our neighbours, our loved ones, our faith. When we have all of these things, the presents under the tree, the booze, the crackers, the turkey, the mince pies - all of these pale into insignificance by comparison.
When we focus on the things that really matter, we find ourselves celebrating Christmas in the way it was intended.

You're definitely not alone. A good friend and coworker doesn't celebrate it because of the church she comes from. But because of marriage she has started to participate.

I enjoy it because it reminds me of my childhood and gives me a chance to decorate and be sort of a kid again.

I don't have a problem with Christmas celebrations, Christian or secular, because people are joyful and that's always nice. I don't do a tree or anything, but I like to see happy faces. For me, so much of my faith is centered on the Incarnation that Advent and Christmas always bring all of that into focus That's really where it's at for me, the Incarnation. I'll celebrate that any day. But I'm not big on getting things ready and lights and such. I like that, but not so much I'm going to do it. Lol

I get the same reaction too.

I know some Christians tell me it's for the positive vibe. They don't really care, don't wanna know where the celebrations came from. It's even worse these times due to Covid and people are desperate at finding some sort of happiness even from the wrong places.

Jesus is the embodiment of the Truth. It's kind of ironic when Christians claim to be followers of Christ but don't like digging about the truth. They only like the symbol but don't really like the person.

I hate all the pagan aspects of it. Santa Claus, Frosty the Snowman, etc.
I hate the commercialization. Buy, buy, buy.

I like the going to Christmas Eve service. I like the Christmas dinner. I like the reading of Jesus's birth at home. I like spiritual Christmas carols (not the Rudolph junk)

Unfortunately too many Christians like the 'pagan' parts of it too, so you just kind of have to go w/ it.

I wish Christians would change the date of the celebration of Christ's birth to a different day so we can rid it of the pagan elements. Another less world-altering option would be to rename the holiday like how many Christians now call Easter 'Resurrection Sunday.'

I suppose one good thing of it being really pagan too is that it's a day for the entire WORLD to be happy. Christ came for the WORLD, not just for those who already believe.

I do not celebrate Christmas as some might guess from my profile. In the past I did celebrate what is called "yule", however, I do not follow such beliefs/traditions now.

I can see why some dislike the non-Christian elements of modern Christmas such as the over commercialization and the appeal to retail and greed. I dislike how Christmas if forced on us (at least here in the US) by companies and retailers beginning to play Christmas songs on the 1st of November (usually the ones that are not spiritual).

When it does come to Christmas music, like @DragonFox91 I prefer the spiritual ones.
Usually the week of Christmas I will watch A Christmas Carol (1984), The first part of Jesus of Nazareth (1977) and read the Nativity in the Gospels of Matthew and Luke.

I've just started an advent study with my Bible study group. It's pretty intense taking us through the genealogy of Jesus Christ. Although it may be difficult to do this through the Christmas season, I'm looking forward to this accountability. Too many times I have gotten so busy with the cookie baking and commercialization aspect (my biggest time of the year to save on things that I wait for all year), that I miss the true point. Praying this study will be good. I am now on day four. I've also been little by little taking down the fall decorations since I won't be hosting Thanksgiving, and little by little sorting out the decor. It's a long process of going out to get a tree, the lights outside takes usually 3 hours in the cold. And then of course you have the interior. Although I don't have a family, who knows if I ever will or if a guest will stop by. I know it brings Joy to The neighbors and it opens a door for conversation when I do talk to them. I have some awesome opportunities with having a subdivision in front of my house and behind my house.

Christmas is just a bit too cliche for me. You could send me back to a Christmas in 1996 and I probably wouldn't notice a difference. (Well, I would. The Quality Street tin would be a LOT bigger.)
And made of metal. The true tragedy of Christmas …
