It started to become very cold in the room, at least to David it felt very cold. Seeing he didn't have any particular warmer garments, he rushed out of the room hoping the hallway of the house would give him warmth. Yet, no sooner did he do this that he no longer saw any door or any room to go in. Looking around, he realized he was alone in this big house all by himself. Momentary panic gave way to irrational fears and he wondered what to do next; but soon, the peace of God seemed to come over him and there were more questions in his mind about the house than panic. He felt he would be reunited with everyone very soon; though a part of him really knew that he was still on the park bench in the mall alleyway. Except right now, he didn't want to go back there.

"Well now, looks like you are a bit lost. Would you like a coat? I know it is a bit chilly right now, but I am working on that. Could use some help."

A man in a thick brown coat was painting a mural on the walls. It had the names of God and words of praise on it. Swirls of color danced radiantly in an otherwise cold and empty hallway.

Suddenly, he realized. He had a painter's brush in his hand; he can't remember when he picked it up or if it had just appeared there.

"Oh, well I am Holy Spirit. Or represent Holy Spirit anyway." He said smiling. "But we met a long time ago, didn't we... I used to flow through you quite often. I am always with you...you just gave me this wall to work on, so I am making it beautiful for you." He smiled sweetly as a dove as he wrote another word in beautiful colors on the wall. "Jehovah Rapha, God my Healer."

"You won't let your friends in here." He said sadly. "You haven't let anyone in your life...not even the kids you are ministering too."

He looked at the mural and touched the brushes with his hands. There seemed to be a mixture of both dark and light colors, but it seemed the Holy Spirit was trying to get the light colors to see through so much more.

"Why don't you just force me to follow You? It would be so much easier, I normally fail you daily. It would be so much easier if you just did it for me."

"Hey now son, I don't make mistakes." he said. "Making disgusting things is just not in my nature." He pointed his head towards the wall. "And my opinion is all that matters of you." Little words stood out now in the lighter colors, hidden in the names of God... "My good thoughts towards you outnumber the sand."

"It is a bit hard to worship when you are forced, wouldn't you think? Do you love me, David?" he said, as he spread out a little farther along the wall.

Falling to his knees, he placed his hands in a closed temple prayer position with his heads bowed. "Who can stand before you Spirit; your love makes me tremble even more than your awesome power. But yes, Spirit. I love you and wish you were closer to me every day. But some days, I don't feel you near ... I'm sorry about that" David said as tears came down his cheeks.

Holy Spirit smiled. "I have never left. I was sent as Comforter after all. There are different seasons in life, and you may feel distant, but just press in more to me. They who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength, they will mount up with wings like eagles, they will run and not be tired, they will walk and not faint... Focus on the Lord, David, and feed my sheep. Do not close yourself off to the least of these, because in seeking my Kingdom, you will find comfort."

With that, Holy Spirit disappeared and the hallways were now covered with beautiful art and scriptures. Names and praises to God and loving thoughts towards David and God's children.

"Wow, David... What is this?" The doors had appeared once again as Elaynah came out with the kids, Lori on her hip.

"It is... It is beautiful." Elaynah touched the walls reading here and there.

Interestingly, David had not noticed one picture on the mural. It looked like Gabriella sitting at a piano and everyone else singing and he wasn't sure where it was.

"Gabriella? Do you play the piano?"

Elaynah looked at the mural carefully, and noticed a picture of her and Ben with Lori. She noticed walla around them and realized since they married, it really had stayed with just the three of them. Besides work, they really didn't have many close relationships outside the family. It was always safer that way.

"I love piano." Elaynah said, looking at Gabrielle. "Do you play? Maybe there is one here somewhere and you can play for us."

David continuing looking at the house he now suddenly and affectionately called the Christmas house. "Surely in this house, there must be a piano or a keyboard." Gabriella indicated that she just started learning how to play, but it was very rudimentary. She could do one or two songs.

"Ms. Elaynah; if I live with you in the orphanage, does that mean that Mr. David can't visit us anymore? If so, I want to make this house the last special place. Or am I just being silly?"

David replied, "Oh, I'll be around, don't you worry. But ... I have a question for everyone" after there were some more interactions from people. "Where exactly do the kids sleep in this house? I mean, don't you think it was made for kids to live in?"

@PeterJames0510 I thought I was waiting for you. Sorry it has taken so long to reply!

Elaynah sighed. "Yes, at the orphanage Mr. David can definitely come visit you. We will just have to pray when you are adopted that you will have a wonderful family who also allows him to visit."

Elaynah paused. "It is worth it, Gabriella...and... this place is special isn't it?"

After speaking with Gabrielle she turned to David. "I don't know. We have explored this much. I guess we can keep looking...where do you want to look now?"

(like we talked about, I'll work on finishing since you are brined out. This has been fun)

David looked both ways. He heard beautiful music from upstairs and vaguely felt as if that was his heart now. God had warmed his heart up and gave him hope. After thinking about it, he turned to Elaynah.

"I think it is time to go back." He said. "Don't you? I think this house.... Is a glimpse of our heart and what it has been and what it is and could be."

Realization came over Elaynah's face and she hugged Lori close. She wasn't quite sure why they were all there together, but she felt it nothing less then a miracle.

"Don't you want to know where the music is coming from?" She said.

"From here." David patted his heart, eyes moist. "I think I want to wait to see."

"But how do we get home?" Gabriella asked. "And... Then what?"

David bent down to Gabriella and put his hand on her shoulder. "I don't know, but I know it will all be okay. I want you to trust Mrs. Elaynah. Can you kids do that?"

"Yeh, but we want you." She hugged him tight.

"Me too." He said. "Me too."

Then it was like the house disappeared and there in the alleyway David was there holding Gabriella. Elaynah sat up on the couch and Lori ran into her arms.

"I can make that happen, David." Elaynah said after a moment. "If you really want.

David didn't want to say it, but there was Christmas in his heart.

"I'm afraid... My health isn't the best." He said. "I believe I will be okay now, but it may take awhile to get there." (Little did he know his abdomen was miraculously healed).

"But I tell you when I am I will..."

And then he saw Christmas in that beautiful house. Elaynah and her family too. And their lives never would be the same again, because God had touched them all deeply and forever.
