I wanted to ask MJ who know Hebrew what the names of the doomed tribes meant and why they were condemned not rebuked? Jebusites, Hittities...?

And where is the best place to learn Hebrew for understanding the TANACH?

I am inclined to think the Messianic Jews have possibly the best Hebrew language scholars and general knowledge. I hear the names of the Canaanite tribes were symbolic and named a local evil in them. The reason for why they were condemned. As a first read of Exodus and Joshua when young, I needed to know God's fairness, and still could do with a clearer more detailed explanation. So might others.

The seven Canaanite nations are all descendants of Canaan, son of Ham and grandson of Noah, from whom they derive their collective name Canaanites. One of the seven nations is called Canaanites, while the others are called the Amorites, the Girgashites, the Hittites, the Hivites, the Jebusites and the Perizzites. The suffix "ites" indicates "fallen :brokenheart: sinful evil nature." Thus the reason for the "funny" notation under your initial post. IOW, why would you care to know their meaning.

The suffix “ah” appears at the end of many Hebrew names and words, and means “of God” or “from God.” Not every Hebrew word translates easily, and a lot depends on the *translator.

Some Hebrew names ending in ‘ah’ are: Elijah(Yahweh Is My GOD), Hannah(Favor/Grace Of GOD), Messiah(One Anointed With Oil Of GOD), Noah(Rest Of GOD), Yeremiah(Appointed Of GOD), Yonah(Dove Of GOD), Yosiah(Supports/Heals Of GOD), Yudah(Praise/Thanksgiving From God), Hezekiah(Strength Of GOD), Hosah(Refuge From GOD)Isaiah(Salvation Of The LORD), Micah(Who Is Like YaHWeH), Noah(Rest Of GOD), Obadiah(Servant Of YaHWeH), Sarah(Princess/Noble Lady Of GOD), Uriah(My Light Is GOD), Jesus/Yeshuah(Salvation Of/From GOD), Zephaniah(Hidden Of GOD), Zechariah(Remembered By GOD ).

Several years ago on February 14th  i composed a Love Letter for my adopted son Jared (Yared meaning: "descent" but has also been suggested to mean "ruling," "commanding," or even, oddly enough, "rose."). The translation of YHVH using vowel points being that of “YaHWeH” or “JeHoVaH” representing the tetragram “YHVH”. My own preference instead of the vowels points "e" or "o" and instead using "a" three times as *YaHaVaH considering "a" being the "father" of the Hebrew alphabet.

Ahavah means the GOD kind of "Love" in Hebrew, and at its most basic level, it means to have affection toward someone. But biblically speaking, love is more than sentiment—it is also action. In the Shema, Israel is supposed to respond to God's love by showing love to Him in return.

The Complete Jewish Study Bible takes into account the Hebrew alphabet (e.g. Yohanan) as the letter "J" is not found in the Hebrew alphabet ... https://www.amazon.com/Complete-Jewish-Study-Bible-Illuminating/dp/1619708671 ... an excellent resource for Christians interested in the Hebrew / Jewish roots of Christianity including Hebrew/Jewish idioms and the importance of the Festivals Of The LORD to Christianity.

Shabbat Shalom ~ שַׁבָּת שָׁלוֹם
16 For I am not ashamed of the Good News, since it is God’s powerful means of bringing salvation to everyone who keeps on trusting, to the Jew especially, but equally to the Gentile.
17 For in it is revealed how God makes people righteous in His sight; and from beginning to end it is through trust — as the Tanakh puts it, “But the person who is righteous will live his life by trust.” (Habakkuk 2:4; Proverbs 3:5-6)
