I'm ready for spring. Is there a word for "hates winter"? Winter hater? North wind despiser? Whatever it is, that's me. The"dead of winter" is right. Nothing grows.

I do love spring, which probably wouldn't be so great if winter wasn't so horrible, so there is that. I need to look on the bright side of dismal winter, I guess.

*cupping Your face*

it is unfortunate we did’t cross paths earlier. i saw your previous post and didn’t have a response but the Lord gave me one and i trust i needn’t explain.

moments like this i realize the gravity of my sin and shame. the souls i neglected or failed to serve. my waywardness had a price and it wounds me.

but know this in the mist of the darkness, aloneness, and uncertainty.

always…

my prayers. my concern. my effort on Your behalf.

You are seen…known…and valued.

i love You.

s.

Bella! :)

Are you trying to say you don't know a synonym for "winter hater"? ;)

Two upcoming conversations by phone possibly in the next couple weeks. One is close and Christian, has shared scripture with me. The other is far, maybe a bit adventurous and would be interesting conversation. Praying for discernment and wisdom as I engage.

I'm also praying through the friendships I have (women) and future friendships that I engage in. I definitely need the accountability. Continuing to engage with those around me and being an active listener.

And final thought, I'm happy that I got a load of horse manure for the garden today. I will get one more load tomorrow.:D

I need to do that, too. My garden soil is definitely sad and in need of fresh manure. Actually, it could use a layer of good top soil. It's pretty depleted.

I'm hoping it will help since I had just started the gardens last year. It takes a while to establish. What kinds of gardens or garden do you have? I'm thinking that you don't have raised beds but that you have just Your average garden? I put peonies and lavender also in this year. And I didn't take down the marigolds so they will just replant themselves in the spring.

That's right, it's the average garden. I would think a raised bed would be nice, perhaps easier to control? I really don't know, but I have thought I might like raised beds.

It takes a while to establish.

I think that's right, good soil takes time and work, which I honestly haven't done. I buy fertilizer and have compost, but I've been planting the same spot for years. It's on a bit of a hill, which contributes to the problem. I'm looking to have some soil brought in.

A few years back, I bought mushroom compost, which is often used only once for growing mushrooms, and it was wonderful. Some flowers aren't happy with the soluble salts, but for vegetables it was pretty much on point.

You probably already know, but just in case:

For sure. But much more pricey especially for all the things I want to do. I kind of find it a little bit less limiting also to not have everything off in boxes. More space for the way I want to design it with possibly flowers in between.

I'm thinking that you have more experience with gardening than myself. A hill though, I would absolutely love because I would want to plant peonies on it. Peonies love son and air. They are gorgeous when they are planted on a mound. I had them at my last house next to a goldfish pond, I absolutely loved it. My biggest struggle right now is with the trees that surround my yard and getting Sun.

I hope that you can find some good soil to remedy the situation. Yes I would imagine that a hill would not be so good for a garden because of the water running downward. My ditch line Garden that is in front of my house, seems to have done well this past year. I was thinking if water comes downward and the season is dry, that I would have better retention of water there. I'm sure that I had some neighbors who thought I was a little strange for planting squash there, but I want to make use of whatever sunlight I can and soil.

I've never heard of mushroom compost. That's interesting and maybe I will have to look into that for next year.

Thanks for sharing, I hadn't heard of it.

Candy is a gateway drug...
It sure can be. Mine was a blueberry pie that I baked last night. Even though the pie crust didn't turn out since I didn't have enough, I ate half of it:D

Blueberry pie...nice!

With milk?

I noticed yesterday that eggnog is already on the shelves and I had some with my Cheerios.

It didn't turn out so good.

But the portion that I drank by itself was superb!

Nope, no milk. But it was fresh from the oven and hot. I gave the other half to my stepdad today. I will have to try another pie again sometime in the near future.

Yeah that doesn't sound very good. But it sounds like willing to experiment.
