I wish my state would just go back to staying the same time all year round. But nooo! Anyway, I started changing some clocks tonight. Will do the rest tomorrow evening along with the battery change to smoke detectors, etc. Anybody start yet or at least got your fresh batteries for smoke and carbon detectors? *hint* *hint*

Preach it sister! And it is worse with two time zones in the state. I wish we stayed on Standard time all year, but I would be ok with daylight savings time all year. Maybe I just hate change...

I do think every time piece I have changes automatically (phone, PC, TV and car)... I never bother to set the microwave, it's not an essential function for that device. So: meh. This is the first year in a long time that I actually am aware of this due to this very thread. Is it today, then?

You are supposed to change them Saturday evening before bed.

(Enjoy the extra hour due to the temporary ending of Daylight Savings Time. Here is a post from 2015 noting yet another idea of our Founding Father polymath.)

Throughout his illustrious, and hectic, career, Benjamin Franklin found time to write anonymous satirical pieces which he wrote as a form of relaxation. Here is one written in 1784 in which he suggests the adoption of a rudimentary form of Daylight Savings Time:

I wonder what he would think to know it was taken seriously!

As the wise old Indian chief said, "Only a white man would think if you cut five inches off the bottom of a blanket and sew it to the top of the blanket, you get a longer blanket."

NOTE TO STAFF: the comment above is NOT meant in any sort of racist connotation nor in any demeaning fashion, so don't be going all Bill the Cat on me and accusing me of being everything from a domestic terrorist to a fascist supremacist, okay? Just take a deep breath, relax, do some meditative exercises, and realize that Just Because A Word Was Used, It Does Not Mean Any Disrespect To The Great And Almighty Deity Of Woke. Calm down.

I say we stay with day light savings and stop the shenanigans. There is zero good reason to change the clocks twice a year.

It made sense in 1789, when you could save X many tons of candle wax or whale oil in the evenings, but in today's day and age, it's just stupid---an annoying nuisance that serves absolutely no worthwhile purpose whatsoever.

I believe it was in Stephen Covey's 7 Habits book (though he probably got it from somewhere else) but he told an anecdote about a woman baking a ham and her daughter asked why she always cut both ends off of the ham, and it was because her mother did it that way. So they asked the mother and it was because *her* mother did it that way, and then the great-great-grandmother was still alive and they asked her and it was because she needed to do it to fit into her pan. So generations of mothers had been cutting off the ends of the ham for no practical reason.
