The Spirit of Prophecy is for all. All must keep (guard) the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus which spirit of Prophecy. For it is He that works in us both to will and do His good pleasure. Christ in us we in Him that the world might believe. .

It is the Spirit of Prophecy, the testimony of Jesus that enables us to keep the commandments of God. As Jesus testified, "He (God) doeth the work"

Rev 12:17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

Rev 19:10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

Terminology was one of the difficult things I had trouble with when I first realized the the God of Israel was also embodied and later was born of a woman. Which was one of my first baby steps into hearing the gospel.

I would add “Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.” 2 Peter 1:20

Revelation 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and [keep] the faith of Jesus.

Our Part:

The saints keep:

The commandments of God (Revelation 14:12).
The faith of Jesus (Revelation 14:12).

The remnant keep:

The commandments of God (Revelation 12:17).

Holy Spirit:

The remnant have:

The testimony of Jesus (Revelation 12:17, Revelation 19:10).

Paul describes how the Holy Spirit's works in people's lives.

Galatians 5:22-26 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts [obedience]. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

1 Corinthians 12:8-11 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.

Also see 1 Corinthians 12, 1 Corinthians 14, Ephesians 4 and Romans 12 concerning the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit is specifically called the "Spirit of Prophecy" in the book of Revelation. This links the understanding of end time prophecy found in the Revelation of Jesus Christ to the Holy Spirit.

If we do not have the Holy Spirit, we may not have the correct interpretation of prophecy. This would explain why there are so many interpretations of prophecy surrounding the end time, and why there is no discernible Spirit to be found in many teachings concerning prophecy.

In the light of this understanding, the following verse has new meaning.

James 2:26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

Strong's G4983 the body: the body of a person; also the body that is the church.

Conclusion: The Spirit of Prophecy is indeed for all, but the Christian walk is a reciprocal relationship, as per the OP.
