Why do you love God?

That he will never forsake me, that motivates me. And I sometimes hate my parents, but I have never felt hatred for God, I have had no reason.

Can't help it. God chose me and so I must do his will. Hell doesn't sound all that nice either.

He has never failed me...and He loved me enough to come to earth and die for me, so obeying and loving and praising him is the least I could do in return.

We love him because he first loved us.
In Luke 7:41 Jesus said to Simon;
"there was a certain creditor who had two debtors. One owed 500 denarii and the other 50. And when they had nothing with which to repay, he freely forgave them both. Tell me, therefore,which of them will love him more."
Simon answered and said, I suppose the one whom he forgave more. And Jesus said "You have rightly judged".

When I look back at the shameful sinfilled life I lead in my youger yrs. i can't help but love god

What's not to love? You have to meet Him to qualify that question properly.

God IS Love.

My goodness, consider not being obedient? I don't think so, He sees way up ahead of me... things I could never forsee... I did learn that lesson the hard way..

Be obedient. He's always right.

2 Corinthians 5:14
For the love of Christ compels us

That would be His love for us, not ours for Him.

I try obey out of an act of worship, hopefully not out of an act of ritual.

To a degree, yes, but worship, praise and obedience are three different things.
