@gurneyhalleck1 Any updates?
Getting in and out of bed is quite a bit of progress given the pain he had experienced. Continued prayers.Thanks for asking, Laura. Slow-going!!He is healing at a snails pace. The physical therapy is, at this point, just him getting in and out of bed into a wheelchair and going around the hospital and back into bed. He can’t walk yet as the osteoporosis is slowing the healing. Your prayers mean a ton to me!

Said a quick prayer for your family in front of a great icon of St Pantaleimon that used to hang in our church; now it hangs in our Sunday School in a much humbler place. (I think it got "demoted" because it was done in the past couple of decades, and was replaced by an older and more venerable one. (But I like this one better)
My dad stood up and put weight on BOTH hips for the first time today without total pain and misery.
Father placed my dads name in the liturgy weeks back and it touched my heart to hear his name mentioned many times. The power of our Divine Liturgy can’t be understated, so I feel those intercession are helping along with your beautiful prayers, my friends. Thank you!
My dad's motivation is awesome since he started putting weight on his hip without going into orbit with pain. We're praying he'll walk soon.
My mom only sleeps like 3-4 hours per night thanks to Parkinson's and her many surgeries throughout the past 15 years. Last night I prayed with her invoking the intercessions of St. John of Shanghai and the Theotokos. I held the Iveron Icon prayer card on her legs and asked for her help. My mom texted me this morning saying it is the first time she got a good night's sleep all the way through the night in like 15-20 years.
Any updates? Continued prayers!
I’m exhausted. Bring an only child is not easy in these situations.
My dad went to see the surgeon two days ago. It was a harrowing, miserable experience, poor guy. He was racked over when he got back to the convalescent place. Also, he cds was told it’s healing very nicely, but….
It’ll be around three more weeks till he can put his full weight on it. Then he “might” be able to start walking at that point a tiny bit…emphasis on might.
Reality is he will likely be gone another 6-8 weeks. My mom was super disappointed. So was I. This is weighing on us all. My mom is lonely, my back is killing me, Kate is exhausted from it, no rest.
We’re just a bit burned out, all ( of us as a family. We had hoped for an earlier recovery. But God is good. He’ll take care of us all.
Also, the nice Mexican guy that spoke Spanish and a little broken English who was in my dads room…gone….and now a super crazy guy is his room mate. Crazy guy #2. Shouts cuss words, talks to himself loudly, not fun. My poor dad.
Lord have mercy! I hope it strengthens your Dad's resolve to heal and get out of that awful environment and not cause him to become depressed. Prayers for you all.I’m exhausted. Bring an only child is not easy in these situations.
