We are told Jesus is our example and Jesus told us He kept all the commandments of His Father, John 15:10 which includes the 4th commandment.

This is what Jesus did on the Sabbath day...

Luke 4:16 So He (Jesus) came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read. 17 And He was handed the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written:

18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,
Because He has anointed Me
To preach the gospel to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives
And recovery of sight to the blind,
To set at liberty those who are oppressed;
19 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”

20 Then He closed the book, and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all who were in the synagogue were fixed on Him. 21 And He began to say to them, “Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.” 22 So all bore witness to Him, and marveled at the gracious words which proceeded out of His mouth.

Going to church and reading God's Word seems like a very good example Jesus left for us. On the New Heaven and New Earth the Sabbath will continue to be God's chosen day of worship Isaiah 66:23

We are also told we are blessed for keeping the Sabbath holy

Isaiah 58:13 “If you turn away your foot from the Sabbath,
From doing your pleasure on My holy day,
And call the Sabbath a delight,
The holy day of the Lord honorable,
And shall honor Him, not doing your own ways,
Nor finding your own pleasure,
Nor speaking your own words,
14 Then you shall delight yourself in the Lord;
And I will cause you to ride on the high hills of the earth,
And feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father.
The mouth of the Lord has spoken.”

I love Sabbath, its my favorite day. I know growing up it was difficult and I looked at it all the things you couldn't do instead of spending special time with God on the day He blessed, sanctified and made holy.

For the Sabbath keepers- how do you spend your Sabbaths?

All Christians Keep the Sabbath(Just day is debated). But how I spend it is prayer and reading the bible usually Numbers and Deuteronomy.

It [the Seventh day] is a Liturgically chill day, so I talk with friends and do other enjoyable activities on that day, and special meditations on God's Word, and prepare my "spiritual plan" for the next week. Then on Sunday I also chill, go to Church if I can, and avoid servile labor.

I appreciate your answer but which day was the Sabbath is never debated in scripture. God made that pretty clear from the very beginning:

Genesis 2:1 Thus the heavens and the earth, and all the host of them, were finished. 2 And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. 3 Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.
The seventh day is repeated three times. This can't be more clear.

Exodus 20:8 “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. 11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.

God wants us to keep holy the same day that is holy to God, not another day. There is nothing in scripture about any other day that God blessed, sanctified or made holy except the seventh day Sabbath. The day changed after scripture, just like it was predicted Daniel 7:25 and not from God.

God tells which day is His holy day. This is undisputable

Isaiah 58:13 “If you turn away your foot from the Sabbath,
From doing your pleasure on My holy day,
And call the Sabbath a delight,
The holy day of the Lord honorable,
And shall honor Him, not doing your own ways,
Nor finding your own pleasure,
Nor speaking your own words,

How many synagogues are there in your area?

Jesus is our Sabbath rest. Keeping one day a week to rest (not do unnecessary work) is optional under the New Covenant.

We do indeed rest in the promises of Jesus, however, we rest from our work on the 7th day just as God (Jesus) did.

The Sabbath Rest
(Genesis 2:1–3; Exodus 16:22–30)

1Therefore, while the promise of entering His rest still stands, let us be careful that none of you be deemed to have fallen short of it. 2For we also received the good news just as they did; but the message they heard was of no value to them, since they did not share the faith of those who comprehended it. 3Now we who have believed enter that rest. As for the others, it is just as God has said:

“So I swore on oath in My anger,
‘They shall never enter My rest.’ ”

And yet His works have been finished since the foundation of the world. 4For somewhere He has spoken about the seventh day in this manner: “And on the seventh day God rested from all His works.” 5And again, as He says in the passage above: “They shall never enter My rest.”6Since, then, it remains for some to enter His rest, and since those who formerly heard the good news did not enter because of their disobedience, 7God again designated a certain day as “Today,” when a long time later He spoke through David as was just stated: “Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts.”8For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken later about another day. 9There remains, then, a Sabbath rest for the people of God. 10For whoever enters God’s rest (resting in Jesus) also rests from his own work, just as God did from His. 11Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall by following the same pattern of disobedience.

Obviously talking about the seventh day Sabbath (make every effort to enter that rest)

Also ..... both resting in the Lord and from physical work on the seventh.

It's a house of worship. Today we call them churches. Does it matter so much what the building is called or what jesus was doing in the house of worship? He was reading scriptures on the Sabbath day as it was His custom and for our example.

It matters because of your argument. You said Jesus left us an example, yet you don’t even do what He did. A church building (which they didn’t have in the first century) isn’t a synagogue, and if you want to make them the same thing, you need to show that they can be the same thing. And you’ll need to show that standing up and reading scripture is the proper way for all of us to honor the Sabbath.

Yes it wasn't called a church at that time, but that's what it is called now, which is a public place for worship. Jesus was in the synagogues on the Sabbath as it was His custom reading the Word of God. You are not forced to follow Jesus, He gives us all free will, but if that is where Jesus is on the Sabbath day honoring His Father's commandment to keep the Sabbath day holy by reading the Word of God, that's where I want to be, but like I said, we do have free will.

It’s never called a church. That’s an unfortunate translation. It’s called an assembly or congregation. It’s the called out ones. It’s not the same thing as a synagogue. So you still need to show that there is a one to one correlation between the two. And that’s even before we get to the point where everyone reads scripture.

Jesus keeping the law and the sabbath is irrelevant anyway, regarding the debate whether anyone is required to keep it today, since the old covenant was still in effect until Jesus died, so of course He kept it - besides the fact that no one was in the synagogues on Sunday, so if He wanted to read Isaiah 61 about Himself to them, He had to go on the day they were there - Saturday.

Jesus was dead on the sabbath day, yet living at the same time, as He gave His life a ,living sacrifice for us to believe in....

Colossians 3:3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.

Jesus went to Israel in their synagogues, and they showed how they kept the sabbath day, was to try to kill Jesus...

Luke 4:29 And rose up, and thrust him out of the city, and led him unto the brow of the hill whereon their city was built, that they might cast him down headlong.

For Gentiles, they are taught to keep every day holy, Israel continues to keep sabbath holy, but forgets that Jesus Christ is our holiness on every day the same...

Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

Hebrews 10:10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

Hebrews 10:10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

Jesus rested on the Sabbath even in death and rose on the first day to go back to His Fathers work.

Jesus does not separate His holy Sabbath day from Jews to Gentiles.

Jesus said: And He said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, Mark 2:27

Man was created on the sixth day before Jew and before sin in the likeness of God.

Genesis 1:26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness;

Right after God created man God ended His work and blessed and sanctified the seventh day and rested as mans example.

Genesis 2:1Thus the heavens and the earth, and all the host of them, were finished. 2 And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. 3 Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.

God commanded us to keep holy the same day that is holy to God. God has always been our example to follow and the only day in the entire bible that God made holy and asked us to keep holy is the seventh day. This is very clearly shown by the written and spoken Word of God:

Exodus 20: 8 “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it

The Sabbath is a memorial of Creation to honor our Creator. When we obey God and keep the Sabbath holy we are obeying our Creator and not a commandment of man that Jesus warned us about. Matthew 15:3-9

Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.
It seems you used this verse out of context and the opposite of what the scripture states. God does not change which of course applies to the holy day of the Lord thy God and the day God commanded us to keep holy very clearly spelled out for us.

Which is why the Sabbath will continue to be God’s chosen day of worship Isaiah 66:23 for eternity as promised by God, who changes not. Exodus 31:16

Hope this helps

Is there a requirement to worship on the Sabbath?
