I know it's mainly a Balkan custom, and specifically a Serbian one, but we may adopt the custom of having a family patron saint. My son's godfathers family has St. Moses the Black as their family patron, and they're not even Serbian. We have icons of St. George and Nicholas because those were the parishes my wife and I came from respectively, but I'm not sure if they would count as family patrons?
I suppose we could have St. George as the family patron since I see the coming persecution of Christians in the near future. IDK.
