Gladiator.. a pretty melodramatic movie.. but that's ok sometimes. So many quotable lines in the film.

For whatever reason I've been on an ancient Roman kick. Consuming documentaries and whatnot.

Lol there’s so much of that today, people watching videos with a person watching something.

They are called "Reaction videos" and they are big. Name just about any well-know movie and in the YouTube search bar type "<name of movie>" reaction. You will get a ton of hits. You know how it is nice to watch a movie with a friend and then talk about it after and compare notes on what you got out of it? Well, suppose your friends don't share your interest in particular movies. Watching a reaction video is a kind of substitute for that. But many of the reaction videos are worthless. They don't even react. The good ones will issue a running commentary throughout the movie as they catch on to plot elements as they are revealed. It is especially nice when it really is the first time that they have seen the movie and they react when some plot twist happens. It is interesting seeing if they catch on sooner than you did - or later. There is even something called "reaction mashups" where 5 or 6 reaction videos are combined in small panels and they all talk at once. That is kind of useless, but it creates a way for the aggregator to sell ads without creating any original content. As for the movie itself, it is usually obscured and scrubbed of music to avoid copyright hits, so don't think that watching a reaction video is a way to watch the movie itself. It is not. It is worthless unless you have already seen the movie before and can tell where they are in the plot by the least of visual clues. Also, the movie is usually cut down to less than half its original running time, probably because the person had nothing to say about the parts that were cut out, and no one wants to watch minutes at a time of some guy staring at his screen. With all that said, I do sometimes enjoy some reaction videos of my favorite movies.

Planning to watch Dave Chapelle's new stand up on Netflix. In my opinion, he's probably the best stand up comedian around. As far as his act goes.. never really understood the love for The Chappell show.

I do like how he isn't afraid to be politically incorrect.. for some reason.. I sense some sort of cultural shift.. like society is finally getting fed up for this SJW nonsense.

A thread to post what you are currently watching or plan to watch soon.

This is also a place to leave reviews of what you just watched if you so choose.

As for me I am currently watching The Pacific. Enjoying it thus far. A little more gruesome at times than I thought it would be. Cannot help but wonder what World War 2 was like for my grandfather. Although he was stationed in Europe. I do somewhat envy those who were able to live through such important times.

As for what I plan to watch soon.. probably Scanners.

I am watching the remake of MacGyver. I am on season 2 so far and it is pretty clean and funny. I am really enjoying it

Beavis And Butthead.

I remember hating this show back in the day.. thought it was garbage and incredibly uncreative.. of course I was just watching it from a superficial surface level.. took a little while until I actually got it. Then the show just become more and more funny after each viewing.. which is pretty rare for a show. Usually the opposite effect happens.

A similar experience with King Of The Hill.

I seriously started watching the show 10 years ago, although I do remember sneaking out of my bedroom as a kid in the mid-90s and finding it blaring in the living room TV as my dad slept on the rocking chair. Remember taking one look at the characters and seeing how ugly and creepy they looked and decided to head back into my bedroom.. lol.

Ed Kemper interviews..

Feel sorry for him.. seems like he faced a lot of misandry early in life. If people can feel bad for female serial killers.. these emotions should be fine too.
