planter dumped in bathtub.jpeg

Not a very pretty sight to find this morning....I just hung this planter over the tub yesterday....but sometime in the night, one of the links in the chain broke, and it came crashing down. Can't help but think of the saying, "Your chain is only as strong as the weakest link."

Just as there are 10 Commandments or 10 Links that, if we obey them, they will keep us Morally safe....so there are 8 Laws of Health, that if put into practice EVERYDAY, we can have NO FEAR of succumbing to death before our time.

Those 8 Laws of Health are:

N ~ Nutrition
E ~ Exercise
W ~ Water

S ~ Sunshine
T ~ Temperance
A ~ Air (fresh)
R ~ Rest
T ~ Trust in God

If we fail to keep all 8 of those LINKS strong, it will be just a matter of time until when our bodies are attacked by the many germs all around us, that our immune-systems won't kick in like they should, and we won't be able to fight off the illnesses.

Just as true Christians don't "pick & choose" which of the 10 Commandments they will keep...neither should we "pick & choose" which of the 8 Health Laws we will obey.

But we do...so there.

We choose what the sabbath is, we choose what "name in vain" means, We choose how to honor our parents, We define adultery for ourselves, and we admire the goods owned by our neighbors. We choose what is healthy. And still remain Christian.

Well, maybe you do, but there are those of us who do not.

You honestly give your "8 Health Laws" the same authority as Scripture?

Most choose how not which.

All of these points are valid, but each might understand them and apply them differently.

I believe the 8 laws of Health are like the laws of Science, TRUE. Gravity, for instance. Whatever goes up, ALWAYS come down. These 8 Laws are just as TRUE as the Law of Gravity, and just as TRUE as the 10 Commandments. If we obey them, we will find health & happiness. And even though we don't find them listed in the Bible like we find all 10 of the Commandments in Exodus 20, the PRINCIPLES for them are all in the Bible. We don't find the Law of Gravity in the Bible spelled out in Black & White, but none the less we all know it is true. :)

I suppose the chain was of low quality. Even if only one link broke, others might also be of limited strength. But you possibly enjoy the ornamental quality of the chain.

So, you could thread some strong wire from the hanging hook, through the links of each chain length, and secure each length of wire to the pot so wire is supporting the weight of the pot; then you can keep the ornamental chain but have the reinforcement of the wire or some strong string for supporting the weight . . . but make sure the wire goes all the way through each length of chain, reaching from the hook to each hole in the pot, so you are not depending on any of the chain links.

I'm glad you were not under it, when it came down :)

A doctor told me that if my urine is dark, I am not drinking enough water and I could get stones . . . I am not sure he said kidney stones or gallstones . . . or both. Plus, I have possibly had cramps and brain function issues because of being slightly dehydrated.

And yes it seems understand even by mainstream medical experts, how stress can help degrade our immune system. And our immune system helps to protect us from cancer, not only from infection.

So . . . of course . . . our best defense against stress is submission to God and however His grace effects our bodies. I mean ongoing submitting to how our Father rules us in His peace >

"And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful." (Colossians 3:15)

Yet the law of gravity is a formalized description of a discrete fact. The fact itself can hardly be denied.

Your 8 laws seem to me, at least, to fit the category of opinion, not even formalized description of a discrete fact.

The 10 commandments are neither kind of those two things, but commandments by the Creator.

But nevermind, you answered my question, thus showing you know the difference between your list and Scripture.

BTW, are you up on what mushrooms are what? I have a book, and had an app, but neither one seems conclusive to some of the examples I have harvested/found.

Me too! I am getting ready hang one over the the toilet, a matching one. But we'll get stronger chains for both of them. That would be really bad for it to come crashing down on someone on the toilet!

over the the toilet
I understand that walls and ceilings can have plaster that is not very strong; and so you need to have fastening screws which go all the way through to wood beams, especially for hanging plant pots, I would say.

So, even if the holder of your tub's pot has not torn out from the ceiling - - still, if it is anchored only in plaster, you might want to get that taken care of, and make sure you have the toilet pot anchored in secure material, also deeper than the ceiling plaster.

For all I know, after some showers, some steam might work its way in by the hooks' bases and soften the plaster so eventually the pots could fall.

No, I'm not up on the mushrooms, as far as identifying them positively. We didn't get any training on mushrooms in Dr. Christopher's School... I've studied them some since then, as to their benefits, but have not yet learned to be sure which ones I'm identifying. I take them though... Lions Mane. Have you heard of that one? Really good for the brain :). I need all the help I can get :). There are also some wonderful mushroom combinations that have been used with cancer and other serious illnesses.

One Sabbath afternoon years ago, we went hiking in the woods nearby and it was AMAZING! We found like 20+ different kinds of mushroom! So beautiful in all their different shapes and colors...almost as much variety as flowers!

There are a few edibles that are nearly impossible to get wrong IMHO, Lion's Mane, Giant Puffball, Hen of the Woods, and, of course, the Morel. But leave it to me —I bet I could get at least Hen of the Woods and Lion's Mane wrong.

But this is all OT. I was just hoping someone could help me positively identify some others.

Thanks

I can think of several that are prominent. Dandelion, plantain, cattail, tree nuts (acorn, et al), chicory, asparagus, burdock, day lily... just to name a few.
For sure :). Mark was asking about Mushrooms. Some mushrooms can be pretty toxic so I am really hesitant to give any advice on them unless I know FOR SURE which mushroom it is :)

Oops. Sorry about that. I didn't read back far enough to see his post, and never having heard of Lion's Mane, I thought it was a plant. *slaps forehead* The only mushroom I can identify is a morel, but I do have mushroom guides in my library, I just never went out and tried to identify any others.

No problem :) I have some guides, too, and just bought another really nice one this past week....I think it's super important for us to learn all we can about what is safe and good to eat and treat ourselves with for the days ahead :)

I agree. Mushrooms are particularly difficult, in that if you choose the wrong mushrooms they can be deadly. There is a bounty to be had out there, just have to go get it and process it. I have a foraging book for the Northeast as well, which lists the easiest things to forage.

I would be weary of taking something science says and try to equal that with the Bible. The Bible has truth, science is far from that.

Gravity will only be true, if the world science says exist, actually exist.

As for the health laws, it certainly is not a wrong way to live life and will help with establishing a healthy life.

You did not include fasting in this list, or would that fall under rest or nutrition.
