Let's keep going.

And God said, “Let there be a vaulted dome in the midst of the waters, and let it cause a separation between the waters.”
Genesis 1:6 LEB

with him can you spread out the skies, hard as a molten mirror?
Job 37:18 LEB

He is the one who sits above the circle of the earth, and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers; the one who stretches out the heavens like a veil and spreads them out like a tent to live in,
Isaiah 40:22 LEB

Thick clouds are a covering for him, so that he does not see; and he walks about on the dome of heaven.’
Job 22:14 LEB

you who cover yourself with light as with a garment, who stretch out the heavens like a tent curtain,
Psalms 104:2 LEB

Now above the expanse that was over their heads there was something resembling a throne, it appeared like [it was made of] sapphire or lapis lazuli; and [seated] on that which looked like a throne, high up, was a figure with the appearance of a man.
Ezekiel 1:26 AMP

Some more.

And there was a voice above the expanse that was over their heads; whenever they stopped, they lowered their wings.

Ok, so not only can they see above the expanse, but they can hear sounds of a voice above the expanse as well.

How do you propose sound travelled through empty space over hundreds of millions of light years?

And [in my vision] this horn grew up to the host of heaven, and caused some of the host and some of the stars to fall to the earth, and it trampled on them.
Daniel 8:10 AMP

Trampled stars? Trampled gas objects that are millions of miles on diameter?

No. Let's go back and put ourselves in their shoes. And not let our scientific minds transform the original textual meaning.

There are dozens of verses all throughout scripture that describe the firmament more as a dome or a tent or a thinly spread structure, a spread or expanded structure, much like metal is spread with a hammer. Did they believe that it was literally metal? Maybe, maybe not. But one thing is absolutely clear, this was something of a solid nature that was relatively thin, that they could see themselves reaching if they simply had a ladder tall enough. They simply didn't know that the stars were hundreds of millions of light years away. They didn't know what stars were at all aside from tiny lights. They thought it was all right above them.

Eze 1 has zero to do with where the stars are. It is about what some people have called God's flying Saucer above with angels flying down to earth and going up to it again. Nothing to do with what you seem to think it is talking about.

It's speaking about the firmament. It uses the same Hebrew word. The same firmament referenced throughout Genesis.

Strong's Hebrew: 7549. רָקִ֫יעַ (raqia) -- an extended surface, expanse

Brown-Driver-Briggs
רָקִיעַ noun masculineGenesis 1:6 extended surface, (solid) expanse (as if beaten out; compare Job 37:18); — absolute ׳ר Ezekiel 1:22 +, construct ׳רְ Genesis 1:14 +; — ᵐ5 στερέωμα, ᵑ9 firmamentum, compare Syriac below √above; —

2 the vault of heaven, or 'firmament,' regarded by Hebrews as solid, and supporting 'waters' above it, Genesis 1:6,7 (3 t. in verse); Genesis 1:8 (called שָׁמַיַם; all P), Psalm 19:2 ("" הַשָּׁמַיַם), ׳זֹהַר הָר Daniel 12:3; also ׳ר הַשָּׁמִיִם Genesis 1:14 (stars place in it),15,17, ׳הַשּׁ ׳עַלמְּֿנֵי ר Genesis 1:20 (all P). **רְקִיעַ עֻזּוֺ Psalm 150:1 (suffix reference to

It is talking about something coming out of a cloud over a river. The heavens can be the sky over earth, and the higher heavens are up where the stars are. You conflate the two.

I can use the same word, for example, 'boring'. That would be an uninteresting repetitive performance or book or etc. I could also use boring in relation to a big machine digging a tunnel. In the bible the heavens can refer to where the clouds are and the birds fly, or, in the right context, outer space, where the stars are. Now the meaning depends on the context. Some people seem to think that the meaning can be however they choose to dimly interpret some word the same way in any situation to prop up their desired conclusions. Hopefully you would chose to start falling in the first category very soon.

I think your distances are beliefs. But even if it were much further, a window that bypasses space and acts as a portal through it would do the job. Remember Jesus in a boat that was somehow immediately across the water? Boom. There they were. Physical bodies and a boat. Across space. That is the power of God.

Power1: “Remember Jesus in a boat that was somehow immediately across the water? Boom. There they were. Physical bodies and a boat. Across space. That is the power of God.”

You made that one up. There is no place in the Gospels where Jesus caused a boat to cross a lake at remarkable speed. Apparently you don’t know when you are adding to scripture.

God's power and wisdom is far greater than anything we know about. You might ask how Gabriel travelled from the throne of God (which is above the universe/heavens we see) to earth in less time than it took to pray a prayer and open your eyes. No problem at all. For God to open up conduits in the sky that transported water to earth is zero problem.

What would you call where the stars are? People usually call that space.

I do not believe science has a proper conception or understanding of this universe. Since this is not a science forum, it is no use discussing it here. As I said, Gabriel travelled across the universe we observe faster than Daniel could open his eyes and pray.
Just because you can translate a word several different ways does not mean it is used each way!
What would you call the space where stars and the moon and sun are then? A tomato??

I don’t doubt that God has the power. How do you know that God ever had any intent of doing this? If God never did it before and never did it again, it probably means that He doesn’t work that way.

It is far more likely that when Genesis was composed, the Israelites thought that ordinary rain, and opening the windows of the firmament were the same thing.

The link below presents a creationist view which rejects the notion that the Waters Above the Sky are the source of rain. This is a different point of view but it turns out not to be plausible.

<< The expression “waters that were above the expanse” primarily designates water above a cloudy sky, that is, water inside clouds, whose lower side is the sky. >>

The author assumes that the Israelites knew that clouds were made of water vapor, and that clouds condensed into rain. This is unlikely and contradicted by the verses in Ecclesiastes, Job and elsewhere. Also, the Israelites wouldn’t see clouds as being above the sky, they would see them as being in the sky. We know that the Israelites were aware that the stars and other heavenly bodies were above the clouds.

<< There is no providential experience of a heavenly sea, whereas there is providential experience of rain descending from clouds. The implausibility of the heavenly-sea interpretation increases because of its lack of contact with ordinary experience. >>

Again, the author assumes that the Israelites understood the role of clouds in producing rain, thus rendering the “heavenly-sea interpretation” unnecessary. If that is what creationists think, they are arguing with the Bible, which plainly tells us that there are Waters Above the Firmament.

If this site is correct, if all that fell, we would have an inch of rain.

"It is obvious that most of Earth's water is in the oceans, so let's look at rain. Rain is atmospheric water condensing and falling. The atmosphere contains about 13,000 km3 of water. If ALL of this water were to rain out of the atmosphere at the same time, it amount to about 2.5 cm of rain planetwide. That's ONE INCH!"

Forgive me for being confused, but this is what my Bible says for the same passage.

For this reason the Jews tried all the harder to kill him; not
only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling
God his own Father, making himself equal with God.
Jesus gave them this answer: “I tell you the truth, the Son can
do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father
doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.
For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does. Yes,
to your amazement he will show him even greater things than
these. For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life,
even so the Son gives life to whom he is pleased to give it.

Claiming God was a dummy that could not get it right and that people in ancient times were as thick as a brick is not a believing way to look at things actually.

What you think you understand and what you think they understood is in your head.

The stars will all go out one day. All the ideas science has about the created universe are myopic dreams. (as clever as they think they may be)

Doubting God knows what He is doing is not a common sense approach, it is a dark alternative based on nothing.
I think that doubting Scripture for no reason and refusing to admit ignorance of things and times you could not possibly know anything about is an exercise in willing ignorance dressed up as knowledge.
Try to imagine God is real. Try to imagine He talked to us in the days of the fathers. Try to imagine that doubt is from Satan.

I notice that you associate doubt with the Devil, with Satan. I don’t know one verse of the Bible that associates Satan with doubt.

The flood was not based on some way God usually works! (thankfully)

It is far more likely that when Genesis was composed, the Israelites thought that ordinary rain, and opening the windows of the firmament were the same thing.
There is no 'likely' involved. God knows what He breathed down to man when He told them to write it down! You are leaving God out of the picture and trying to focus on your perception of what people thought back then.

Power1: “I think that doubting Scripture for no reason and refusing to admit ignorance of things and times you could not possibly know anything about is an exercise in willing ignorance dressed up as knowledge.”

Power1: “Try to imagine God is real. Try to imagine He talked to us in the days of the fathers. Try to imagine that doubt is from Satan.”

I notice that you associate doubt with the Devil, with Satan. I don’t know one verse of the Bible that associates Satan with doubt.
He told Eve basically God was a liar.
"The very first expression of doubt in the Bible is in Genesis 3, when Satan tempted Eve. God had given a clear command regarding the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and had specified the consequence of disobedience. Satan introduced doubt into Eve’s mind when he asked, “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden’?” He wanted her to lack confidence in God’s command. When she affirmed God’s command, including the consequences, Satan replied with a denial, which is a stronger statement of doubt: “You will not surely die.”"

It's speaking about the firmament. It uses the same Hebrew word. The same firmament referenced throughout Genesis.

Strong's Hebrew: 7549. רָקִ֫יעַ (raqia) -- an extended surface, expanse

רָקִיעַ noun masculineGenesis 1:6 extended surface, (solid) expanse (as if beaten out; compare Job 37:18); — absolute ׳ר Ezekiel 1:22 +, construct ׳רְ Genesis 1:14 +; — ᵐ5 στερέωμα, ᵑ9 firmamentum, compare Syriac below √above; —

Strong's Concordance
raqia: an extended surface, expanse

Quit trying to change what the scripture says.

Now the likeness above the heads of the living creatures was an expanse like the outward appearance of awesome ice spread out above their heads upward.
Ezekiel 1:22 LEB

Now above the expanse that was over their heads there was something resembling a throne, it appeared like [they could see it with their eyes] [it was made of] sapphire or lapis lazuli; and [seated] on that which looked like a throne, high up, was a figure with the appearance of a man.
Ezekiel 1:26 AMP

Some more.

And there was a voice above the expanse that was over their heads (they could hear sound from above it, sound doesn't travel through space and people cannot hear that far.) ; whenever they stopped, they lowered their wings.
Ezekiel 1:25 AMP

Dome is round, magnetic firmament around earth keeps the -365 below zero space atmosphere from entering earths atmosphere which earth would freeze solid pretty instantly

And God said, “Let there be lights in the vaulted dome of heaven to separate day from night, and let them be as signs and for appointed times, and for days and years, and they shall be as lights in the vaulted dome of heaven to give light on the earth.” And it was so. And God made two lights, the greater light to rule the day and the smaller light to rule the night, and the stars. And God placed them in the vaulted dome of heaven to give light on the earth
Genesis 1:14‭-‬17 LEB

I partially agree.

I would argue that these verses only make sense when viewed through a historical context in which the firmament or dome, like you said, is around earth, but with the caveat that the writers of Genesis werent aware of just how far away these objects were and perhaps they thought that the stars were not light-years away but rather right above them just out of reach.

If the vaulted dome is around earth, how do you propose that God placed the sun and moon in the dome?

I would argue that these verses only make sense when viewed through a historical context in which the firmament or dome, like you said, is around earth, but with the caveaut that the writers of Genesis werent aware of just how far away these objects were and perhaps they thought that the sun and stars were not light-years away but rather right above them just out of reach.
