The one thing I was poorly prepared for earlier this year was a storm that took out electricity to the neighborhood for almost four days. A tiny bit prepared, but not enough. I had three battery backups, enough to start our on demand water heater (needs electricity) and run a pump to my fish tank and keep my modem and network up. I'd deplete one and drive to my daughter's house for a recharge while the other was working. Needless to say that would not power a refrigerator. That's sort of the one area where I feel highly vulnerable. But then of course natural gas prices are on a steady steep incline. I expect it to be painful to pay for heat this winter. As long as I can pay I can stay warm. But if the electricity goes out there's not a lot I can do. I've been thinking of a solar panel and battery and inverter but those cost some serious cash.
We are very concerned about heating prices this Winter as well. Thanks Joe Biden.

Didn't end up with a backache?

More like a shoulder ache, but that's more from the crappy mattress I'm sleeping on right now. Only for five more months though.

I'm a side sleeper too, and for the longest time I couldn't figure out why my shoulder was going out. Then I switched sides, and man that changed everything.

Oddly enough I'm a back sleeper, I think my shoulder issues come from my pillow aggravating an old baseball injury. It's my shoulder blade and kind of underneath it. I wish the Hulk was a masseuse cause I'd slip him a hundo to work my scapula (scapulae? Scapulii? ...We'll figure it out).

I just got a new mattress. I have been putting it off for ages. But then one day after the gym my lower back spasmed and the my crappy mattress just exacerbated things. I got it white glove delivery last week meaning then bring the mattress in and take the old mattress out . it feels nice. But mattresses are a racket with their pricing.

I picked one out last year. Felt good in the store. Feels like concrete here.

That's awful. Sorry to hear. They make it difficult to shop mattresses. I researched online then ordered online. I read a ton of reviews and hoped for the best.
I’m just trying to adjust. I just bought a mattress topper.

Let's go, Brandon!

I usually go to sleep on one side or the other, but I always wake up on my back. Unless I'm dreaming and thrashing....in that case, I can end up in all sorts of weird positions.

They really are. What kind did you get? I was actually sleeping on an airbed for my first three months in DC, my fiancee was so bothered by it that she bought me a Casper bed for my birthday in April, and it was awesome...now she's sleeping on it down in our new apartment while I'm back on an old spring twin mattress in the place I'm staying. C'est la vie, amiright?

I bought this: Saatva Classic Mattress

My previous was the Tuft and Needle . A little too firm. The Saatva is nice. I hear good things regarding the Casper. What I liked about the Saatva was its ratings for side sleeps.

Glad you are prepared.
Second opinion was that a minor adjustment was all that was needed. Done on the spot. Fixed. Inexpensive. Working now. No new gizmo needed.

The first guys now look like they needed to make some money off of us.
