• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I’ve read these verses before but never really thought about it. But today I’ve searched for explanation about these verses and it scares me. I struggle with daily sin. I am also addicted to a particular sin. Sometimes I don’t know what is sinful and what not. Like if I watch a television show I feel sinful and think what I watch is wrong. And now I’m scared because of those verses.
I have OCD for a very long time too.

Can someone help me?

The writer in Hebrews is telling the new Jewish christians that the time of sacrifices is over ... that now they have to trust God to save them. He is mainly saying that they cannot just go back to sacrifices.

Like them, you have to trust God to take care of you. He loves you ... and is not put off by your petty sins. As long as you want to be with Him, ... He wants to be with you ...

I would imagine that these verses have scared quite a few people over the years.

But as someone said, the first is not going back but moving forward. Go back to verse one so we don't lose context

Hebrews 6:1 "Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,

At this point we know the foundation is Christ.

From there all you would need is true repentance through Christ.

The other as someone else said is downright willful sin, not caring at that point.

Our Father is always read to accept someone back upon full repentance.

Take comfort with this verse,

II Peter 3:9 "The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance."

It's Father's will that no would would perish but that all come to repentance.

And some sins are harder to overcome no doubt. That's the case with everyone but pray for help and guidance.

Remember Father knows our hearts!

I’m not so scared about Hebrews 6:4 anymore, because I‘ve always believed.

It’s Hebrews 10:26 that I’m still worried. Because I still sin.
Every christian still sins. That's what forgiveness is for.

Think of your life as training for heaven. You are LEARNING how not to sin.

We are His children ... and what parent doesn't forgive their child for sin now and then ...

In Numbers 15:28-31 it says that there are different rules for them that sin ignorantly and them that sin wilfully. The priest can make atonement for the person who sins ignorantly, but the person who sins wilfully is cut off from his people. I think this is what Hebrews 10:26-29 refers to. That said, David and Samson both sinned wilfully and were forgiven, and Samson got the Holy Spirit back when he was captured by the Philistines. I think David never lost the Holy Spirit, in fact he prays in Psalm 51:11 for God to not take His Holy Spirit away from him. So if you have wilfully sinned, don't give up on God, He may yet have mercy on you.

Thank you all for your replies, but I’m still scared I can’t help it. I have been stressing about this the whole day now. I’ve never had a day of anxiety like this. I still struggle with daily sin, with the same sins, and sins I’m addicted to for years, and things I don’t know are sin or not, like watching television shows. I don’t know what to do. I’m just scared of living now, making decisions and stuff. Thinking I do wrong. And what about the things I know are sins, but struggle with.

I’ve read somewhere Hebrews 10:26 is about Jews who still believes in animal sacrifices instead of Jesus Christ.

Please help me, I’m shaking...

When it comes to 10:26-27 I personally believe that the attitude of the sinner in question must be of one who knows that what they are doing is a sin and does not care at all that it is a sin. "God made me this way so He'll just have to accept me for who I am!" You, obviously, do not feel this way about your sin. Therefore, even though you have a sin that you are struggling with, you are fine. We all have a sin or multiple sins that we struggle with. We just must try to fight against these sins, take up our cross daily and follow Him. When we fail, and we will, we then ask for forgiveness and repent and pick back up our cross and continue to follow Christ.

Even ancient Jews didn't believe that it was the animal sacrifices which atone for sin and understood only God can forgive. Psalms 40:6

Do you feel guilty after falling to your "particular sin"?

Hi 123flower.. you are not alone here for these two verses get talked about allot. One talks about "tasting" they were never saved. They know about Christ His word who He is and repenting.. they tasted it yet turned and walked away. There is no doubt with them. They never came and repented..never gave in to that sweet sweet holy Spirit.

The other there were Jews that were saved and when they sinned they would try to go back and offer a sacrifice for that sin. There is no more sacrifice for that sin. To do what they were doing was putting Christ to open shame. As if the blood of the lamb was not enough. He died for ALL the sin of the world. There is no sin you or I do that He didn't already die for. So much of scripture we can take it for what it says.. other times we must dive in to see exactly what was being talked about.

One easy way to see here is..when you as a believer in Christ read those 2 verse (always read above and below a verse) what happened? Did FEAR come? Be shocked to know the even in the strongest things our Father says.. so muc move is in it and NEVER fear. God has not given you the spirit of fear but of power and love and a sound mind. There will always be a peace. Even if you heard STOP DOING THAT! A fear yet not mans fear.. of respect of bowing knowing your Father has spoken to you yet .. you have no fear just "yes sir". That LOVE MERCY GRACE is all there also. He is never against us always for us. He never came to condemn the world but to save it.

So even knowing all this..pray ask Him the sweet sweet holy Spirit (Luke 11 13) will show you.. He will ways use back up what He says with the word.. so be at peace tell that fear you have to go in JESUS name for He has given me His peace not as the world gives and I have the JOY of my Father (the joy of the lord).

Isa 41 10 "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.". That is a promise for YOU! You are so loved.. Your Father never will use fear :)

I can't remember if I asked you this before, but are you currently getting help for your OCD?
