Yep. The reason people don't like him is because he follows the science and is right. We can't handle the truth he articulates, therefore we don't like him. It isn't hard people. Like all Science*, except for when he's wrong, he's always right. And if we understood that, we'd like him because we would also be right. It's our fear of the truth that messes with things.

It doesn't matter whether anyone "likes" Fauci or not.

Just like it didn't matter if your "liked" your parents, ... your teachers, ... or your boss ...

I certainly hope the latter were less confusing.

I guess that is for those who look upon him as a paternal figure. I happen to think he is a buffoon and has lied on more than one occasion. He comes across as arrogant.

People don't like reality and often prefer delusion. Fauci isn't "wrong." Science isn't "wrong." They rely on the evidence at the moment and make a determination. People don't like that. It's uncertain. It is why people prayed to false gods and call the psychic friends network. People would rather blatantly ignore medical advice and put their own lives at risk than accept uncertainty.

What was the whole not wearing a mask thing about? Did anyone think they were smart for not wearing a mask? Here the thing - if someone was really assertive in making case through rhetoric on youtube that cutting off your pinky finger prevents COVID, people would have done it.

They don't want "maybes" and "science." They want to be told what to do. They don't want to wear masks because it's not asserted to them.

Outdoor mask were and are still theater. Massachusetts for the most part has gotten rid of the masks period. . Gyms and bars are open. The number of deaths in the general population from covid is infinitesimal. Those that struggle are statistically over age 80 with multiple co-morbidities.

vaccines are fine as is questioning those like Fauci who speak out of both sides of their mouths.

Fauci did mislead and lie. Repeatedly. In email correspondence in February 2020, he did not recommend masks to protect people from being infected by the virus and publicly told people not to wear them. Whether this was an example of the science changing or not is irrelevant because Fauci then decided to portray this not as him being wrong but as him nobly lying to preserve masks for front-line workers.

Fauci admitted to lying about the percentage of the population that would need to be vaccinated to reach herd immunity because, in his view, the country wasn’t ready to hear what he really thought. Fauci continued to wear a mask after being fully vaccinated and told Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul that it wasn’t “theater,” only to later admit that he didn’t want to send “mixed signals.”

Fauci also continued to push lockdowns and mask mandates long after evidence showed that they were not necessary. He was confused that cases kept declining in Texas after lifting its mask mandate and desperately warned the state not to declare victory a full month later. Meanwhile, he praised the abysmal pandemic response of New York and Gov. Andrew Cuomo. If Fauci has made himself the personification of science, it’s no wonder that “science deniers” abound.

Despite his contention to the contrary, Fauci did downplay the idea that the virus emerged from the Wuhan Institute of Virology and even now only argues that he was opposed to the straw man argument of the virus being a deliberately released bioweapon.

Fauci is not a victim of anything except his own arrogance. He made himself the final authority on all things related to the pandemic and continued to lie to get the outcomes he wanted. He posed for magazine shoots and went to baseball games when everyone else was barred from attending. He has been a disaster, and he clearly deserves most of the criticism that has been leveled at him.

Mind you this came from a very liberal webbsite.

Fauci shocked by criticism after being consistently wrong and repeatedly lying to the public

I guess that it's possible that I might have missed all of the Fauci buffoonery ... in the midst of all the other buffoonery going on during the pandemic ...

If the quotation is correct then it reeks of arrogance. He comes of as a self proclaimed wizzard who got all the answers. Nevermind any disagreement or lack of consensus in the field, Dr. Fucci has spoken...

Boy he really has a Messiah complex, doesn't he? All the more alarming that people feed into it: getting tattoos of him, those blasphemous prayer candles, clothing with his face or name on it, etc. It grotesquely flies in the face of Levitical laws, so if that's not your sign I'm not sure what is.
