Fair enough comment. I followed the second campaign with great interest as I'm ex military myself. It was a pretty good example of how to conduct modern large scale warfare. The allied forces were wise with Germany and Japan and those countries were stable democracies after WW2. Iraq and Afghanistan are examples of how not to restore nations after war.
Japan and Germany had already been stable nations before the war (that was why they were able to become such international opponents).
They already had the concept of "nation" internalized by their citizens. They already had a well-functioning, civic-minded bureaucratic infrastructure extending from the national capital down to the the smallest villages. They had functioning courts and legislatures at every level. All allied forces had to do was let them piece back together what had been damaged during the war.
Nations can be restored...but they can't be built.
