Fair enough comment. I followed the second campaign with great interest as I'm ex military myself. It was a pretty good example of how to conduct modern large scale warfare. The allied forces were wise with Germany and Japan and those countries were stable democracies after WW2. Iraq and Afghanistan are examples of how not to restore nations after war.

Japan and Germany had already been stable nations before the war (that was why they were able to become such international opponents).

They already had the concept of "nation" internalized by their citizens. They already had a well-functioning, civic-minded bureaucratic infrastructure extending from the national capital down to the the smallest villages. They had functioning courts and legislatures at every level. All allied forces had to do was let them piece back together what had been damaged during the war.

Nations can be restored...but they can't be built.

Middle East Muslims view Islam as superior to everything else

Just like many Christians view their religion. And many Sikhs and Raëlians and just about every other human on the planet.

Wow! How ordinary! Such profound!

I don't consider Catholicism to be Christian anyway. Individual Catholics may well be Christian, but the organisation is just a revamp of the Roman Empire with religious overtones.

Whatever, dude.

Suicide bombers hits Shiite mosque in Afghanistan killing dozens — the second such attack in a week

Suicide bombers hit a Shiite mosque in the southern Afghan city of Kandahar during Friday prayers killing at least 50 people, according to a local police commander.

Abdul Ghafar Mohammadi, the Kandahar police commander, said the death toll was over 50 with at least 100 wounded, but say he couldn’t be more specific because the toll would rise as health workers recovered more bodies in the aftermath of the blasts.

Let's hope the Taliban decides to devote more attention toward rounding up the ISIS members and reversing the decision to release them from prison, and a little less attention toward preventing women from being educated in schools.

Since women don't appear willing to shoot back, my money is them going for the easier target.

The problem with ISIS is that they shoot (or bomb) even when nobody is shooting at them.

That's a bit like hoping drive by shootings will disrupt tax law enforcement.

Not quite. Tax law enforcement isn't anything like like the Anti-Female Education Act of 2021. (No, that's not what it's officially called, but if they gave nice-sounding names to their bad laws like we do...)
