Yeah, apparently, no one thought of it, or at least the major players (ports and venders-like Long Beach and Walmart) haven't been operating at the rate they are committing to operate at. So, a deal is being brokered to make that happen, which needs to happen. It's a log jam out there, and they need to get stuff unloaded. I hope it works.

wow i always see truckers at night my whole life, especially long haulers, the catch is they cannot drive for more than 11 hours in a day.

The objective appears to be to extend the hours available for offloading at major ports. It looks like they've agreed to operate 24/7. An obvious consequence of this is that more freight will be available for hauling out of port at night when the roads are less crowded.

The extra freight available for night movement is a consequence of extending port offloading hours.

It's hardly worth the 'wild plan' sarcastic tone taken by the article and repeated by you.

The article also suggests that Biden can't be blamed for all supply chain problems.

"It is tough to pin the problem entirely on Biden, as the global supply chain is extremely complex, but American voters may place the blame on the president if they are unable to get the goods they need in the coming months."
