Hi everyone,

I’d like to ask the community a question,I’ve known about the biblical concept of a Gift given to individuals to use to glorify God,however the question is,I cannot figure out what mine is! Could anyone offer advice on how I can find out?

I was where you are.
I don’t want to make it sound simplistic, but I think it’s whatever you’re good at. It doesn’t have to be a specific “job”.

It can be something that seems inconsequential to you, but what makes the world a better place.
When you buy groceries, do you make the cashier smile with a kind word or a big smile of your own?
If so, maybe that is your gift. Not everyone can do that.

Who knows what your gift is? Maybe you do?

I've been a Christian since I was 5 (according to my mother —I don't remember the 'occasion') so I've been a Christian over 60 years. I don't know what mine is either. Does it matter?

I've been told what it is many times by different people with different ideas and thoughts with different motives for telling me and they don't agree, or want to correct what they said after hearing what someone else said. So now I'm quarter this, quarter that, and half the other. Honestly, I don't see where it needs to be known. Just pursue Christ. And if you're like me you can't help but talk about him. That's what I call my gift —what I am driven to do.

I've gone to these 'gift' seminars and been through training and took courses: mostly, they are man-made teachings and I don't see the point in them.

You know your gift by figuring out what it is you are really good at and
than by praying about it God will reveal to you what your gift and calling is.

'Spiritual Gifts' & 'Natural Talents' are different.
- It seems that we need more clarity/discernment.
----
To: OP
You need to search/find..
- What your 'natural talents & spiritual gifts' are.
---
* I am saying this..
- Because..this is 'Spiritual Gifts' section/sub forum.

It might be worth your while to look at this link and go through the exercises. It's Catholic, but gifts don't depend on your denomination - they're God's gift to you, and it's up to you to find out what they are, and try to use them.

I might even take my own advice and go through the motions myself.

We all need the gift of unwrapping :grinning: That is, humility to ask God for discernment of his giftings to us. Then, when the reality of these gifts are apparent, to take hold of and live in them.

For myself, I am such an individualist that it took me a look time to open up to see that a lot of the affirmation of our gifts comes from people: by way of their reactions, remarks, our impact on their lives, etc.

Agree that there are differences between our personal skills and how God uses us in His spiritual gifts.

One example is discernment which is really good but discerning of spirits is better and different. Discerning of spirits comes from the Holy Spirit. It's not the gift of criticism or suspicion. His gifts are to overall build up His body. Our physical senses need to be surrendered including "...for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart." I Sam 167

"Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy...." I Cor 14:1
