Part 1.
Controversy of the chronological events, or there is no controversy ?
God separated the Levites from among Israel, to be the Lords, instead of the rest of Israel, and to do the service of the tabernacle.
God took the Levites for all the firstborn of the children of Israel ( as God said He sanctified the firstborn in Egypt) and gave the Levites as a gift to Aaron, to do the service in the tabernacle and to make atonement for Israel...
Numbers 8:14 Thus shalt thou separate the Levites from among the children of Israel: and the Levites shall be mine.
15 And after that shall the Levites go in to do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation: and thou shalt cleanse them, and offer them for an offering.
16 For they are wholly given unto me from among the children of Israel; instead of such as open every womb, even instead of the firstborn of all the children of Israel, have I taken them unto me.
Numbers 8:18 And I have taken the Levites for all the firstborn of the children of Israel.
19 And I have given the Levites as a gift to Aaron and to his sons from among the children of Israel, to do the service of the children of Israel in the tabernacle of the congregation, and to make an atonement for the children of Israel: that there be no plague among the children of Israel, when the children of Israel come nigh unto the sanctuary.
Aaron anointed, ministers in the priest's office, and their anointing was an everlasting priesthood.
At that time the Lord separated the tribe of Levi, to stand before the Lord and minister unto Him, and to bless in His name, and they had no inheritance with their brothers in Israel, the Lord is his inheritance..
Exodus 40:13 And thou shalt put upon Aaron the holy garments, and anoint him, and sanctify him; that he may minister unto me in the priest's office.
14 And thou shalt bring his sons, and clothe them with coats:
15 And thou shalt anoint them, as thou didst anoint their father, that they may minister unto me in the priest's office: for their anointing shall surely be an everlasting priesthood throughout their generations.
Deuteronomy 10:8 At that time the Lord separated the tribe of Levi, to bear the ark of the covenant of the Lord, to stand before the Lord to minister unto him, and to bless in his name, unto this day.
9 Wherefore Levi hath no part nor inheritance with his brethren; the Lord is his inheritance, according as the Lord thy God promised him.
God spoke how Israel would be a peculiar treasure unto God above all people on earth, if they obey His voice and keep His covenant. Then they shall be a kingdom of priests unto the Lord.
The Lord said He comes near so the people may hear and believe for ever, and the Lord said go unto the people and sanctify them, to day, and tomorrow, and be ready against the third day, for the third day the Lord will come down in the sight of all the people upon mount Sinai.....
Exodus 19: 5 Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine:
6 And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.
7 And Moses came and called for the elders of the people, and laid before their faces all these words which the Lord commanded him.
8 And all the people answered together, and said, All that the Lord hath spoken we will do. And Moses returned the words of the people unto the Lord.
9 And the Lord said unto Moses, Lo, I come unto thee in a thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with thee, and believe thee for ever. And Moses told the words of the people unto the Lord.
10 And the Lord said unto Moses, Go unto the people, and sanctify them to day and to morrow, and let them wash their clothes,
11 And be ready against the third day: for the third day the Lord will come down in the sight of all the people upon mount Sinai.
God said for the people to be ready against the THIRD DAY. ( not the seventh day as the third day is this Holy day) and the third day there were LIGHTNINGS AND THUNDERS, and THE VOICE OF A TRUMPET EXCEEDING LOUD, so that ALL THE PEOPLE THAT WAS IN THE CAMP TREMBLED.
Mount Sinai was altogether on a smoke, because THE LORD DESCENDED UPON IT IN FIRE, and the smoke ascended and THE WHOLE MOUNT QUAKED GREATLY...
Exodus 19:15 And he said unto the people, Be ready against the third day: come not at your wives.
16 And it came to pass on the third day in the morning, that there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mount, and the voice of the trumpet exceeding loud; so that all the people that was in the camp trembled.
Exodus 19:18 And mount Sinai was altogether on a smoke, because the Lord descended upon it in fire: and the smoke thereof ascended as the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mount quaked greatly.
God then speaks to Israel, how He brought Israel out of Egypt.
God begins to instruct Israel ( who Gd took out of the land of Egypt) to remember the sabbath day in keeping it holy. The instruction is to Israels sons, daughters, cattle, servants, and strangers within their gates.
The commandments continue, to honour their father and their mother, for their days to be long in the land of Israel, that the Lord would give to the children of Israel. To not covet their neighbours house, or wife, or his servants, nor his ox or his donkey, or anything that is their neighbours...
Exodus 20:1 And God spake all these words, saying,
2 I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
.
Exodus 20:8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
12 Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.
13 Thou shalt not kill.
14 Thou shalt not commit adultery.
15 Thou shalt not steal.
16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.
The people of Israel saw the THUNDERINGS and the LIGHTNINGS, AND THE NOISE OF THE TRUMPET, and they spoke saying, to not let God speak to them, or they die. Moses said to them to fear not, as God came to prove them, for His fear to be before their face, so they sin not..
Exodus 20:18 And all the people saw the thunderings, and the lightnings, and the noise of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking: and when the people saw it, they removed, and stood afar off.
19 And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear: but let not God speak with us, lest we die.
20 And Moses said unto the people, Fear not: for God is come to prove you, and that his fear may be before your faces, that ye sin not.
God continued to give Israel His commandments, and said how Israel shall be holy men unto God..
Exodus 22:31 And ye shall be holy men unto me: neither shall ye eat any flesh that is torn of beasts in the field; ye shall cast it to the dogs.
Moses came and told all the words of the Lord, and all the judgments, and Moses wrote all the words of the Lord, and built an alter and twelve pillars, according to the twelve tribes of Israel. Moses took blood of a sacrifice, sprinkling half on the alter, and read the book of the covenant in the audience of the people, and Moses sprinkled the blood on the people, saying behold, the blood of the covenant which the Lord has made with you concerning all these words.....
Exodus 24:3 And Moses came and told the people all the words of the Lord, and all the judgments: and all the people answered with one voice, and said, All the words which the Lord hath said will we do.
4 And Moses wrote all the words of the Lord, and rose up early in the morning, and builded an altar under the hill, and twelve pillars, according to the twelve tribes of Israel.
5 And he sent young men of the children of Israel, which offered burnt offerings, and sacrificed peace offerings of oxen unto the Lord.
6 And Moses took half of the blood, and put it in basons; and half of the blood he sprinkled on the altar.
7 And he took the book of the covenant, and read in the audience of the people: and they said, All that the Lord hath said will we do, and be obedient.
8 And Moses took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and said, Behold the blood of the covenant, which the Lord hath made with you concerning all these words.
But the priests corrupted the covenant of Levi, causing many to stumble at the law...
Malachi 2:7 For the priest's lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth: for he is the messenger of the Lord of hosts.
8 But ye are departed out of the way; ye have caused many to stumble at the law; ye have corrupted the covenant of Levi, saith the Lord of hosts.
That is because perfection is not by the Levitical priesthood. Another priest rises after the order of Melchisidec, and not called after the order of Aaron. There is a change also of the law.
Not made after the law of carnal commandments, but after the power ( the power of God) of an endless life, and a disannuling of the commandment going before ( carnal commandment of the letter and not the Spirit) for its unprofitableness ( it is not profitable as the letter results in death without the Spirit) as the law made nothing perfect, it drew nobody near to God....
Hebrews 711 If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron?
12 For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.
Hebrews 7:15 And it is yet far more evident: for that after the similitude of Melchisedec there ariseth another priest,
16 Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life.
17 For he testifieth, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.
18 For there is verily a disannulling of the commandment going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof.
19 For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God.
Then the first testament was dedicated by blood, and almost all things are by law purged with blood, and without shedding of blood, there is no remission ( of sins) and therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the Heavens should be purified with these ( shadows of the Heavenly patterns) but the Heavenly things themselves are purified with better than these with a better sacrifice...
Hebrews 9:18 Whereupon neither the first testament was dedicated without blood.
19 For when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of calves and of goats, with water, and scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book, and all the people,
20 Saying, This is the blood of the testament which God hath enjoined unto you.
21 Moreover he sprinkled with blood both the tabernacle, and all the vessels of the ministry.
22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.
23 It was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.
Then we do not come to the mount that burned with fire, and THE SOUND OF A TRUMPET, and THE VOICE OF WORDS, and they intreated that the voice should not be spoken to them any more. They could not endure what was commanded, and so terrible was the sight that Moses said, he exceedingly fears and quaked..
Hebrews 12:18 For ye are not come unto the mount that might be touched, and that burned with fire, nor unto blackness, and darkness, and tempest,
19 And the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words; which voice they that heard intreated that the word should not be spoken to them any more:
20 (For they could not endure that which was commanded, And if so much as a beast touch the mountain, it shall be stoned, or thrust through with a dart:
21 And so terrible was the sight, that Moses said, I exceedingly fear and quake
But we come unto mount Sion, the city of the living God, the Heavenly Jerusalem, and to God the judge of all, and to the spirits of just men, made perfect. To Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better than that of Abel...
Hebrews 12:22 But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels,
23 To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect,
24 And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.
Then we see that we do not refuse Him that speaks, as He then spoke to them on earth, now He speaks from Heaven, His voice then on earth shook the earth, now His voice shakes not the earth only, but also Heaven.
Then receiving the Kingdom that cannot be moved, ( this is what is eternally secured) we have grace to serve God ( as priests) acceptably and with REVERENCE AND GODLY FEAR, for our God is a CONSUMING FIRE....
Hebrews 12:25 See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven:
26 Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven.
27 And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.
28 Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear:
29 For our God is a consuming fire.
Israel sinned and God was grieved with the children of Israel, and God right there sware, they shall not enter into His rest. They could not enter in, because of unbelief.
Israel followed after the law, of righteousness, and could not attain, as they sought it not by faith. They sought, as it were, by the works of the law. They stumbled at that stumbling stone, as God said, He would lay in Sion ( the city of the living God, Spiritual Jerusalem) a stumblingstone and rock of offence, and whosoever believes on God ( faith of Christ) shall not be ashamed ( Levi caused many to stumble at the law corrupting the covenant of Levi)
Judge not one another therefore any more, but judge this rather, to not put a STUMBLINGSTONE or an occasion to fall in his brothers way, as there is nothing unclean of itself, only to those who esteem it unclean, to them it is unclean.
What is not of faith is sin, and we eat of faith, not of the letter of the law. ( need to eat the body and blood of Jesus Christ, as this is the faith of Christ, and mans faith is law, the keeping and breaking of it, but we are under the law of faith)...
Hebrews 3:17 But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness?
18 And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not?
19 So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.
Romans 9:31 But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness.
32 Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone;
33 As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
Romans 14:13 Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's way.
14 I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean.
Romans 14:23 And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.
