Never underestimate the motivational power of trying to sustain a lie.

I'm guessing by this point, Karen wishes she had never come up with the idea of another "audit."

Probably seemed like a good idea at the time...

Trump releases statement falsely claiming GOP audit in Arizona uncovered 'undeniable evidence' of fraud after the audit confirmed Biden won
Former President Donald Trump backpedaled from praising a group of "highly respected" GOP auditors in Arizona after their audit of the state's election results confirmed that Joe Biden won the general election. Trump also released a misleading statement on Friday morning that said the audit found "significant and undeniable evidence of FRAUD!"

The statement was contradicted by a spokesperson for Cyber Ninjas, who earlier told an NPR affiliate in Arizona: "Was there massive fraud or anything? It doesn't look like it."

Hi @BeyondET

You did read my statement that said not since the last 20 years with all of the GOTV effort. Pretty much everyone of those jurisdictions on your list are from back in the 60's and 70's. Yes, obviously the measure was needed in the 60's since that when it was enacted. Lean over here real close so I don't have to yell. THIS IS 2021!!!!!!! IT'S BEEN 50 YEARS OF GETTING THE MAJORITY OF ALL RACES AND SUB-NATIONALITIES REGISTERED TO VOTE.!!!!!

Did you not read that I wrote that this VRA '65 is akin to the old law that you can't tie your horse up in front of a saloon. Yes, there was a time that that law was needed also. Even when your list was made up, other than the states mentioned that I'm pretty sure are no longer eligible to be on the list, there weren't but 100 counties in the whole country that qualified. Really??????

God bless,
Ted

Yes i read your first post to me.

Ted post 32#
"As far as I'm aware, there has never been any law or requirement that states submit changes in their election laws to the U.S. Justice Department for review."

now you want to say well there was a law but lean in so you don't have to yell its 2021, i see you love to add quirky sayings, i'm not amused

have a nice day,

Trump lost = undeniable fraud, in Trump land. It's where the fairies go if they get kicked off the job for smoking or spending the tooth money.

So, removing this part of the VRA '65 is really just something that is like removing a law today that says you can't tether your horse to a hitching post in front of a saloon. It's a law that has lost it's protective intent because there are no such jurisdictions to which it would apply.
Actually, there is a restaurant/bar in CO that has a hitching post out front and riders do use it for their horses. Hot days herding cows, a cold beer, or a pop hits the spot. During fair and rodeo days...those hitching posts are needed now. You city people need to stay in the city, you don't know how us country folk live.

“If Trump and his supporters can’t prove it here with the process they designed, then they can’t prove it anywhere,” Benjamin Ginsberg, a longtime Republican election lawyer, said on a conference call with reporters Thursday. “And that should be a huge warning to the other state legislators who might think it’s a good idea to go down this path.”
...
The Arizona “audit” has been plagued by problems from the outset. Republicans in the state Senate hired Cyber Ninjas, a firm with no election experience, to manage the undertaking. Cyber Ninjas CEO Doug Logan, and others involved in the undertaking, had spread many of Trump’s baseless conspiracy theories.

The review was funded in part by a QAnon conspiracy theorist, and two QAnon adherents helped generate support for it, according to Media Matters. The effort also drew funding from former Trump national security adviser Michael Flynn, former Trump lawyer and election conspiracy theorist Sidney Powell, and correspondents from the right-wing One America News Network.

The review spent months chasing conspiracy theories — like the idea that some ballots had been printed on paper that included bamboo fibers, which supposedly meant they had been mailed from China and were part of a scheme to manipulate the results — and breaking basic procedures for how to handle, transport, store, count and mark ballots during an audit or recount process. Its practices, some which potentially violated federal election laws, compromised the integrity of Maricopa County’s voting machines, which will now have to be replaced.

Cyber Ninjas and the Arizona GOP also repeatedly missed their own deadlines for finishing the review and releasing its results, something they are finally expected to do Friday at 4 p.m. EST.

“Nobody has ever released what they believe to be good news at 4 p.m. on a Friday afternoon in the history of the United States or any other place on Earth,” David Becker, executive director of the Center for Elections Integrity and Research, told reporters Thursday. “So it’s clear how they view the credibility of the report.”

You know, I think most Republicans in Arizona are beginning to shake off the enthrallment of the former POTUS. This article shows them wanting to change leadership.
Maricopa Republicans call on Arizona GOP chair Kelli Ward to resign over election "lies"

I can hear them digging in even deeper from over the Atlantic. Those nut jobs are never going to let go of the lie, they’ll just keep on digging themselves deeper and deeper into it. Getting rid of them would mean gutting the GOP and losing its most vociferous supporters.

It's a sad thing. The republican establishment thought they could make a deal with the white supremacists and swamp dwellers, but in the end, the degenerates own the party now.

I don't see how they can ever recover. They can either toss traditional values out the window and become full Trump acolytes, or they can start over with a new conservative party.

I wonder if the goal of the audit was just to collect data on voter demographics to determine how to manipulate voter registration for the next election.

By conducting the audit, the Trump administration could better understand how they lost to determine what voting policies need to be changed to regain an edge.

It is a bit shocking that Donald Trump is only the second Republican candidate to lose since the 1950s (some 70 years ago).

The ultimate goal was to go from house to house but they never got the nerve up to demand that of voters, even though they suggested that they might have to do it.

It's still a conservative state. But Trump is no conservative.

That is true. Trump, in my opinion, was always more of an independent kind of candidate. Criticizing McCain, and just being so anti establishment. The party has come a long way since Bush Jr.

Even people who disagreed with McCain, respected and liked him. He was nothing if not honest and forthright. And he put himself in harm's way for his country, paying a price most of us will never fully understand.

The disturbing thing is, Trump had no idea why people found his statements on McCain to be so despicable. He really didn't get it. People like McCain are an impenetrable mystery to Donald Trump.

Hi @The Barbarian

People like McCain are an impenetrable mystery to Donald Trump.

Just like the claim that has been made that he commented while visiting the graves of all the dead soldiers in Europe, that he didn't understand why people would do such a thing.

God bless,
Ted

There's some concern that 2021 was a rehearsal for the real thing, to be rolled out if the swamp loses in 2024 as well.

The wreckage of the cyberninja audit is quiet now; with nothing to see, and nothing to report, it died quietly.

So this is how the much-ridiculed Republican-led Arizona audit of the 2020 election ends: not with a results-changing bang, but a whimper.
Relatively speaking, at least, when it comes to breaking news.

A draft of the findings from the months-long partisan recount that has defined Arizona as a source of ridicule trickled out Thursday night, hours before the scheduled release Friday afternoon. Big stories work that way sometimes. Sure, the New York Times and Washington Post and cable news got around to the story eventually, but it wasn’t the spike on the national media Richter scale you might have expected.
So this is how the Arizona election audit ends? How news media covered the report draft

Apparently, more red state politicians think they might be able to get the same kind of fund-raising boost by doing "audits" in their states. Even if Trump won. Texas is planning a fraudit but only in counties were Trump lost.

There's money to be made, and Richard Nixon said there's really no such thing as bad publicity.
