Bannon was aware that no insurrection was going to save the Trump presidency. The coup, in his estimation, was necessary to wreck the new administration.

Bannon Admits Plotting Jan 6th 'To Kill Biden Presidency In The Crib'

Conservative broadcaster Steve Bannon admitted on Wednesday that he had plotted with President Donald Trump to "kill the Biden presidency in the crib" ahead of the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

"You look at January 5th, we discovered that Steve Bannon, the former White House strategist, was there at the Willard Hotel blocks from the White House with Rudy Giuliani, having an almost war-room-type meeting with other Trump allies the eve before the January 6th insurrection," Costa recently explained to MSNBC. "And Bannon had actually been in close touch with President Trump for days before January 6th. Based on our reporting, he privately told President Trump to have a reckoning on January 6th. And he said to the president, it's time to kill the Biden presidency in the crib."

Bannon seemed proud to confirm that the conversation had taken place.

"Yeah, because his legitimacy," Bannon said of Biden. "42% of the American people think that Biden did not win the presidency legitimately."

Did you happen to hear Tom Brady's comment when he was at the White House after the Super Bowl? He said something like, "Yes we won, even though 40% of people say that we lost".

Yeah, he can be kind of a jerk, sometimes. But he's not stupid. Still, kicking Trump in head while a guest in the WH does seem a bit oafish, doesn't it?

He made the comments as a guest of President Biden. Oafish?

Oh. Not so oafish, then. I was thinking it was earlier. Still, he's supposed to be buddies with Trump, and that's kind of a low blow, no matter when he said it.

Funny, yes.

If the reporting is accurate, it seems clear to me that the attempt at a coupe was made in the conversation between Pence and Trump.

Bannon gives conflicting answers to what he meant by "kill the presidency in the crib".

If it's true Bannon told Trump to have a reckoning a few days before January 6, then it indicates that Trump would not have been planning violence at the Capitol.

Since he ordered his followers to go and fight at the Capitol, and since they have admitted that he did order them to attack the Capitol, that's not arguable. Clearly, he intended them to do so.

For which he was impeached. Only frantic efforts by McConnell saved him from conviction, but then McConnell admitted:

Following Saturday's vote acquitting former President Donald Trump, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., excoriated Trump for his actions on the day of the attack on the U.S. Capitol, calling them a "disgraceful dereliction of duty."

But he said ultimately, he did not vote to convict the former president because of constitutional concerns.

"There's no question, none, that President Trump is practically and morally responsible for provoking the events of the day," McConnell said shortly after the 57-43 Senate vote that ended in the former president's acquittal.

"The people who stormed this building believed they were acting on the wishes and instructions of their president," he said, "and having that belief was a foreseeable consequence of the growing crescendo of false statements, conspiracy theories and reckless hyperbole which the defeated president kept shouting into the largest megaphone on planet Earth."

McConnell rebuked Trump for his actions after the insurrection as well.

"He did not do his job. He didn't take steps so federal law could be faithfully executed and order restored," he continued.

"No. Instead, according to public reports, he watched television happily — happily — as the chaos unfolded," he said. "Even after it was clear to any reasonable observer that Vice President Pence was in serious danger."
After Voting To Acquit, McConnell Torches Trump As Responsible For Riot

Lacking the manhood to do the right thing, McConnell danced and dodged, trying to have it both ways. It's people like him that brought America down to this mess.

It remains arguable for Trump that when Trump said "fight" he didn't mean "attack the capitol" no matter what his followers thought he meant. I also recall Trump saying openly to the proud boys "stand back and stand by" (an incriminating choice of words in hindsight).

There had to be a number of people who had planned and coordinated the attack. A point of the spear operation like what we saw would probably take at least several weeks of preparation, not days. If Bannon told Trump to "have a reckoning" a few days before January 6, that sounds like he's advising or suggesting to Trump. That seems odd to me. Why would Bannon be trying to convince Trump to get payback when preparation for the operation is well underway? Had Bannon said "We're going to have a reckoning", then that sounds like Trump is in the loop. Either way I think it's Bannon that has the ties to the militant groups that showed up there.

Good post. I am responded belatedly to your post, but I have the same issues that it appears you have with people using words like "followers" and otherwise making claim that have no basis in fact when held up against all the evidence to date. Context is important, as well as remembering that we are absolutely gifted, being made in the image of God, but we can't decipher thoughts and motives. The media can, according to most of it, but you and I?. No.

I am going to start a post on this issue which I hope you will read and enjoy.

God Bless,

Tolly
