• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

What do you do when you are in constant, nearly immobilizing back pain but you have 2 small children (4 yrs and 1 yr)? I was in a bad car wreck and grateful that everyone survived, but I still can’t perform simple tasks. I can’t even carry the baby. I’m in physical therapy and doing all the HEP but being a mom means I don’t have 6 weeks to wait for relief. I can’t take the muscle relaxers unless my husband is home.

I have bulging discs. Suffered with bad back for over 30 years. Steadily getting worse.

Had injections a few weeks ago...didnt help.

Tried many meds...

Offered morphine etc...no thanks.

Take ibuprofen / paracetamol when i cant stand the pain any more. I work. Not easy.

I use hot water bottle under lower back in bed. This helps....try it.

Offer up your suffering to God my friend.

I pray that God will lay His healing hands on you and cure you or make your life easier with regards to your back issues.

Be strong. Pray to God. Lay all your suffering at His feet ...you are not alone friend.

God bless you

I wish I had an answer for you. I am where you are for the last 15 years minus the kids and any meds. Sometimes heat or cold helps a little? I feel helpless for you because it seems impossible to handle with children. I guess the best I can do is to suggest hounding the docs til they do something. I gave up on them but you have to pursue an answer
I am sorry.
May the Lord heal you, prayers

I'm sorry you're hurting. You may find relief with an injection and it must be administered by pain specialists. Beyond the usual suspects, Gabapentin is effective. It's typically given to people suffering from epilepsy. But its useful for tension headaches and back pain. It won't cause drowsiness like the rest.

I was offered Gabapentin but, after researching it, decided against it. Only because i didnt want to become dependent on it also, withdrawal symptoms coming off it is not very nice.

Having said that, it may be worth a try. Talk to Your doctor OP.

i struggled with a back injury for many years. It was crippling. My prayers are going out to you. Constant usage of pain killers made me depressed and knocked me of the planet all the time. While anti inflammatory medication landed me in hospital nearly dead from an severe allergic reaction after using it for years.

Not sure if this is legal where you are, or if you have bad feelings about this plant, please ignore if so.

Peace.

I do not know much about acupuncture, but it seems to help some people. Bee venom therapy is still quite new, but if you can find a specialist that uses it, and there are very few, then it might be worth exploring, assuming that you are not allergic to bee venom.

You don't have to take it continually like other meds. You can take it when you're in pain and it's effective. They recommend continuing for a week when doing so. But you don't need it every day.

I injured my lower back while moving a heavy object about 25 yrs ago. I went to the library and got a book about back stretching exercises. I got healed. I reinsured it years later and had to research again.

Resting in a fetal position helped my case.

Back injuries are all different. This position took stress off my lower back:

The doctor is talking about having me do the disability assessment and stop teaching. And then I got rear ended at a stop light. I’m not handling well.

I do. I have been wearing them at night.

I’m sorry about the accident and to hear you’re struggling. Did they arrange physical therapy? Neuromuscular massage works for some. You can have the tens unit at home.
