When I read posts in the singles threads there are so many searching for that special one. I wonder why they don't take advantage of the christians here? What better place to get to know someone then a Christian site. Not just for something personal but many want a friend. So start reaching
Out and get to know each on a different level. A good way is post a little something about yourself, special interests, etc.

I wondered the same in the past. Then I recalled that most date within their vicinity. They don’t consider suitors in other areas unless they’re willing to move or able to support someone doing the same.

Companionship requires time in person. Flying to and fro adds up fast. Lengthy separations can take a toll. I think it’s better to meet someone in your own backyard.

Whenever I download an app like that I feel ridiculous and delete it in the next 3 minutes, people are strange on those websites, and you have to pay to see more people. I agree with bèlla , long distance relationships are hard and don't wish to have one.

There's more to consider in light of Covid. You could have long periods of separation. A lot of couples struggled and didn't make it. The only way I'd recommend it 'in this period' is if one party is retired or mobile. You can bridge the gap.

I haven't used any of the recent apps for dating. My last experience with online dating was back in 2011/2012.

I didn't like how I felt like I was trying to 'sell' myself to someone. I was expected to catch and hold the interest of a woman with a few choice pictures, a short and clever profile, and my ability to ...charm? them through the messaging system.

Hard enough to catch a woman's attention in real life.

I returned to an old haunt a month ago. Things are worse. I couldn’t fathom vetting suitors on the Internet. The back and forth is exhausting!

DH and I rekindled our connection. We met on that site. But we were fortunate. I wouldn’t meet another like him in this space. We crossed paths at the right time.

I love meeting people and one way is to see what happens on FB dating. Plus even if nothing happens I enjoy reading profiles.

I’ve never seen it. Stay safe! :)

The FB dating app only shows up on my phone. I find people are people and where ever you meet them there are the same type of people ... I love meeting people, so I meet a lot of them.

Yes I do. I started right before the pandemic started.

I've been on dates with 5 people in the 2 years. Through eharmony, match, plenty of fish and Christian Cafe. They all came from some distances except for one.

I think I've also made about four friends during that time. One is through Coffee Meets Bagel, he's old enough to be my kid, I'm going to meet up with him this Sunday for a walk in my area. I think he just needs some guidance, I've known him for about a year. The others are at some distance. One of them even got married recently. It's been encouraging to see his post and how God worked in it. Another person I became friends with that agreed with me on abstinence before marriage, and gave me tips through OkCupid how to navigate someone of a similar mind. He said there are so few that think the same.

Had a brief look, not my thing.

Something about dating apps makes the whole process of meeting a potential partner feel forced and sad, to me. All these people posting all this stuff in an attempt to be noticed or get attention so that they aren't lonely. It's approval seeking. I don't want to live that way.
