France bans unvaccinated American travelers

When an entire country bans you, you know it just got real...and it IS real.

In response, someone gave a scenario regarding relatives taking a trip to Aruba:

Each of these actions move a non-zero percentage of the population in the right direction. They simply work.

Part of my mom’s family is off-the-deep-end Q believers and firmly anti-vax. Trump stickers, “come and take it” flags, doomsday preppers and everything.

They recently decided to go on a Caribbean vacation and purchased tickets to Aruba. Shortly afterwards, Aruba announced a vaccine requirement to enter.

Guess who got vaccinated?!?

Another...

My mom got denied for a flight to Ukraine because she couldn't get a negative Covid test in time and had no vaccine. Lost $800 in flight tickets.

Guess who also got the vaccine right after? This works, most anti-vax people just love to talk. The second it negatively effects them they are going to go get it because they don't truly believe what they are shouting or don't care enough in reality once push comes to shove.

Once the consequences come they will get in line and get it. Where education failed to work, laws and 0 tolerance policies will.

Yep, those against the vaccine are pretty much all talk, when push comes to shove, they'll be like "ooooh...okay, I'll get vaxxed! Geesh, ya don't have to twist my arm!"

Sounds like their convictions weren't that deep.

Must have been medical concerns holding them back. Because if it was something truly important like political identity, they woulda resisted.

My Ultra Conservative Trump loving aunt caved ,so she could go to Hawaii and a different country. That her son will get married in. Bus she think COVID-19 is completely a lie.

Her daughters boyfriend thinks it's fake. And brain washed his 2 little kids and his stepson. The kids play games about chasing each other with a COVID-19 vaccination. Giving them the shot. And it kills them.

Denialism is a coping mechanism.

The USA is still on England's 'amber' country list. So, anyone from the USA who is not fully vaccinated must isolate for 10 days on arrival, and take a 'day 8' Covid test. Isolate means not allowed out of where you are staying, e.g. the hotel room, or your friends'/relatives' house for the full 10 days (arrive on day 0). There are some limited exceptions, such as going for a Covid test, or in emergencies - e.g. flooding, fire, unexploded bomb found by builders next door.

This is in addition to the tests that everyone arriving in England (from outside the UK) must take: a negative test before travelling, a Covid test on day 2 after arriving.

If you are very bored, or haven't yet taken the hint that any international travel is best avoided, see the English government's requirements: Red, amber, green lists: check the rules for travel to England from abroad

(Yes, I mean England, not the UK)

I don't blame France. There's no good reason to permit entry to foreign travelers who are unvaccinated.
USA is still banning any travel from Europe or the UK, except for limited essential business travel. This is not a restriction on un-vaccinated, but on everyone.

I had not realised that the USA has such strict restrictions, and it seems unlikely these will be relaxed any time soon, unlike other countries that are continuously updating their Covid travel policies. England routinely makes updates every 3 weeks, and will make emergency updates quicker.

Update: as of a few minutes ago:
Covid: US opens up to fully vaccinated EU and UK passengers

The US is relaxing travel restrictions for passengers from the UK and European Union, ending an 18-month ban.
From November, passengers will be allowed to travel to the US if they are fully vaccinated and undergo testing and contact tracing, officials said.

Do you think that should be the case for our borders as well?

Yes, with the provision that this doesn't negate the moral obligation to adhere to international law regarding refugees. Those crossing the border because they are refugees should be detained and vaccinated before being processed.
