Is there any reason for this?

Hi everyone I’d like to ask a question about something that is giving me anxiety.

Every time I pray to the Lord Jesus I always get this thought and feeling that I’m “not a Christian” “God doesn’t hear the voice of an unbeliever” “God doesn’t love you” “God doesn’t care” “God doesn’t know you and will reject your request” and it’s scaring me,I’m starting to fear I may not be known by Jesus or I’m loved or saved.

It sounds like the Devil is whispering in your ear.

Think of Jesus' response to the devil in the wilderness - quote back scripture that says God loves you, that he cares for you.

The Bible says 'resist the devil and he will flee'

You are loved by Jesus and saved. I have no doubt. That is nothing but the enemy putting those thoughts in your head and due to other reasons that you talk about in the other forum you primarily post in, this makes you particularly susceptible and I would imagine, they are much louder than in one without those other things you struggle with. I wish I could just tell you don't worry, you are and it would help but I know that it won't.

Instead, any time those thoughts come in your head, combat them by saying, proclaiming, praying, whatever you wish to call it, "I love the Lord my God with all my heart, mind, soul, and strength. I believe that He sent His Son on the cross for my sins and I have accepted Him into my heart as Lord and Savior. I am saved. I am a child of God and joint-heir with Christ." Modify that how you wish but continue to say it until you believe it. Once you do, those words that are in your head won't matter anymore.

Another thing I want you to think on is that is there any habitual sin in your life that you commit without feeling guilt about? I would think that the answer is no considering how scared you are that you aren't saved due to these lies in your head. That guilt, that feeling you feel whenever you sin is the Holy Spirit in you. You cannot be an unbeliever and have the Holy Spirit guide you. That is proof alone. Though this is in no way required, but even Jesus suggested it when he taught his disciples to pray, ask God for forgiveness every day for any and all sin. Whether that be once whenever you regularly pray or throughout the day if you need to. Every time you do He will forgive you. 1 John 1:9 is proof of that. Ephesians 1:7 is a great verse as well.

When Peter gave his sermon in Solomon's Portico he said in Acts 3:19, "Repent, therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out." The ESV states,"...and turn again..." Repentance is not just a one-time thing. One may repent, make a commitment to not do it again, but fail. Does this mean they are not saved? Not at all! God tells us, through Peter, to turn back to Me again...and again...and again...and again. He wants to forgive us! He wants to forgive us 70 times 7 times and more if necessary! God knows your heart, He knows you love Him, believe in Him. You just need to believe that truth.

You're always going down this road ! It's not new for you , nothing has changed since the last time we talked on this topic. The time I brought up your positional truth vs lies from the enemy, be that demonic or from within. Don't allow it to beat you up but trust in your position in Christ from scripture. Rebuke the lie in Jesus' name.

Friend, I think it's because you haven't found the voice of the Holy Spirit in you. You have nothing to compare these thoughts with internally so you have nothing to do other than let them drive you into dark places.

Hi everyone I’d like to ask a question about something that is giving me anxiety.

Every time I pray to the Lord Jesus I always get this thought and feeling that I’m “not a Christian”

If you applied the word of God and obeyed to what it takes to become a Christian who are you to question God?

But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Romans 10:8,13

So he said, thou shall be saved, he said your confession if made unto salvation and he said if you believe on him you SHALL NOT be put to shame. And he said he's rich unto ALL...ALL....ALL that call upon him. I mean this in a humorous way Blaise to make a point. So what's so special about you that you're not a part of ALL???? You must be some type of unique individual right and I guess Paul was wrong. He should have wrote, and he's rich unto ALL who call upon him except a guy named Blaise who'll be born in a couple thousand years from now! Seeing he didn't say that and Pauls writings are inspired directly from the Spirit how about you just accept that if you do what God said which I'm guessing you did YOU ARE SAVED.

“God doesn’t know you and will reject your request” and it’s scaring me,I’m starting to fear I may not be known by Jesus or I’m loved or saved.

As I said if God was going to reject you in your request to receive him he would have put that down for the human race to know about 2000 years ago. He's RICH to all who call upon him except the Blaise fellow who's not born yet. Do you see that in the scriptures Blaise? No? Then how bout forget it?

That could be what is known as "impostor syndrome".

Impostor syndrome - Wikipedia

Many struggle with the same issues. You're definitely not alone, here.

Those negative thoughts and ideas are trolls. People say: "don't feed the internet trolls". The same advice could apply.

The way to apply it is to focus on something else. Focus on God. Focus on something important.

That is the accuser living in your guilty conscience brother. He is the real enemy! He lies about Jesus and your salvation and tries to keep you out of God's loving truth you believing his lies.

See believing that Jesus saved you will bring you inner rest, but believing the accuser that you are not saved will bring inner unrest. So when you fear that you have not been saved, call out to Jesus to save you, and you will be saved, it is as easy as that.

The job at hand is not to heed the accuser, but only the God's loving truth. Honest brother when you stop heeding the accuser and heed God's truth instead then God's love will begin to grow inside of you and His love will set you free from your sins.

The accuser used to accuse me day and night, always denying my salvation, it was a horrible life where i could not beat my sins and i did hardly ever experience the Love of God.

The i began to trust that Jesus did love me, even when i was a sinner, and i stopped heeding the accuser, that horrible dragon, and began to heed the Spirit of love for God and neighbour speaking the word true. This is the big lesson i learned to understand. The word spoken in love for God and neighbour is Jesus speaking to us. We have to follow Him with all our heart.

So please stop heeding the accuser brother, and in all your weak and sinful self go to Jesus and let Him free you from your sin and give you life in His Spirit instead of those sinful ones.

Honest the accuser dies in the end! When you don't heed him any more then he dies inside of you, he starves to death, but he will go ballistic before he lets you go. Only God's loving truth can beat him, don't take him on on your own.

Brother it is great to be delivered from that evil monster. i hope and pray you will heed the word speaking in love for God, you and neighbour, for that is the only way out. Let God's grace fill you to overflowing so His love will wash away your sins and you will find life in His Spirit instead

Revelation 12:10-12
Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say:
“Now have come the salvation and the power
and the kingdom of our God,
and the authority of his Messiah.
For the accuser of our brothers and sisters,
who accuses them before our God day and night,
has been hurled down.
They triumphed over him
by the blood of the Lamb
and by the word of their testimony;
they did not love their lives so much
as to shrink from death.
Therefore rejoice, you heavens
and you who dwell in them!
But woe to the earth and the sea,
because the devil has gone down to you!
He is filled with fury,
because he knows that his time is short.”

Peace.

Hello Blaise,

i am sorry that you are struggling with this and i hope this message helps you.

Regardless of a persons belief in Jesus, God loves everyone.

That being said, if you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and savior then God has made a number of promises to you. You became a brother of Jesus and a child of God.

God listens to the prayers of his children and loves them.

As to the status of your salvation: if you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and saviour and beleive in the work that He did on the cross then you would know that he paid the sin debt for all people of all time.

Salvation is a gift given to you by an all powerful, loving and merciful God and there is nothing you can do to lose it (even though neither you nor i deserve it).

Therefore the voices telling you that you are not saved are confused and foolish. and most importantly they are untrue.

therefore, as we know God does not lie, they are clearly not from God and therefore should be disregarded.

i wonder if it is a guilty conscience allowing these thoughts to get through?are you reading your bible daily, attending church, or doing anything else that could cause this?

Hi everyone I’d like to ask a question about something that is giving me anxiety.

Every time I pray to the Lord Jesus I always get this thought and feeling that I’m “not a Christian” “God doesn’t hear the voice of an unbeliever” “God doesn’t love you” “God doesn’t care” “God doesn’t know you and will reject your request” and it’s scaring me,I’m starting to fear I may not be known by Jesus or I’m loved or saved.

Why do these thoughts and feelings have power in your mind? What about them prompts you to pay any attention to them at all?

On what basis does God say you are one of His? On the basis of what you feel? On the basis of intrusive thoughts in your mind? No. On the basis of what His word says brings you into relationship with Himself. When intrusive thoughts enter your mind, counter them with the "sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God," run them through with God's truth, expose them for the lying whispers that they are.

We can know we are saved by the presence of the following in our lives:

1.) Conviction of the Spirit. (John 16:8)
2.) Illumination of God's truth by the Spirit. (John 14:26; John 16:13; 1 Corinthians 2:10-14)
3.) Strengthening by the Spirit in times of temptation and trial. (Ephesians 3:16; Romans 8:13; Philippians 2:13)
4.) Production of the Fruit of the Spirit. (Galatians 5:22-23; Ephesians 5:9)
5.) An increasingly sanctified (or holy) life. (Romans 6:19; 2 Corinthians 7:1; Ephesians 4:24)
6.) A love of the brethren. (1 John 3:14)
7.) Spirit mindedness (Romans 8:5; Romans 8:14)

This isn't an exhaustive list of the things God's word says mark those who are born-again by the Spirit; but the things I've listed are perhaps the most readily observable things that appear in the life of a born-again person. In any case, you don't have to wonder if you're really saved or not. What does God's word say? Do you see the presence of the Spirit in your life? These are the crucial questions.

One last word: Fear is not of God. His love for us casts out fear. Those who fear in their relationship with God, who are motivated to Christian living by fear, "have not been made perfect (mature, complete) in love. (1 John 4:18-19)

1 John 4:16-17
16 So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.
17 By this is love perfected with us...

Do you know of God's incredible, depthless love for you? Do you believe, are you fully convinced He really loves you with an "everlasting love," a love far exceeding all others? When you do, fear will dissolve into joy and peace.

Hello Blaise,

It is a healthy thing to question your salvation. There are many people who go to church every week, worship, and pay tithes. Yet when they die, expecting to be embraced by Jesus. Jesus says "I never knew you"(Matt 7:21-23) It's a sad thing, but it happens.

Brother, take your time to learn about your savior, see him as the Son of the Most high God, who humbled himself from glory and walked among us. How he endured being of no value or recognized by the people he created. In humble and loving obedience to the Father, he allowed himself to be a substitute for us and our wickedness on the cross. So anyone who believed in him, trust/have faith in him, could be reconciled with God himself and exchange our dirty rags for the righteousness that Jesus could only achieve!

When you are reconciled with God, you become graffed into the family of God. We are no longer alone, but we have access to God via Jesus our mediator.

Acts 1-2, I highly recommend you meditate on those scriptures. Be humble and honest with God, even when what is in your heart is or sounds ugly. He knows you inside and out already, you can't hide from him. Best to be honest and straight with God. With humility keep praying and submitting to recieve salvation UNTIL you know you recieved it.

Salvation can come quietly for some, or dramatic for others. My Mom doesn't know the exact date or time she was saved. She just knew. My step Dad and myself had it dramatically, like the world changed, but it didn't. The Lord revealed himself to me that only I would know, and I couldn't explain it away. Like a light switch, from dark to light. From being alone in my sin, to having access to my creator who has NEVER abandoned me.

I pray this helps you brother.
