What do you all think of all this?
In alberta, they did the texas thing where the restrictions were removed prematurely and a lot of people got sick again.

Masks while sitting, attendance back to 1/3. Now I can't go!

Why can't you go? You must own a mask by now, right? Is there not enough room for you in the building when they're at 1/3-capacity attendance? You could ask the pastor about the possibility of having multiple services, or an outdoor service, or something like that, if you want to attend but there's not room enough for you under the new social distancing protocols.

I guess depending on who you ask. If you ask me, restrictions should never have been imposed to begin with. I don't deny covid at all, but it's obvious the government is using it against its own people.

I don't own a mask. Nor will I mask myself while I'm sitting or mask my child. It's not about multiple services or outdoor services it's about the church complying with all government laws that are drastically inflated and hurting the congregation.

This already happened before from 1918 to 1920 because of a pandemic. Things will eventually go back to normal this time around too.

That killed 30+ million. We haven't had a death under the age of 19 in Alberta. 78 deaths between 20-50 in 18 months. Most deaths are 80+ because the elderly are contracting pneumonia. We need to protect to vulnerable not lockdown the healthy. Anyway I see this post took a wrong turn so I'm just going to delete it.

Ah. I work outside the home, and I do the family grocery shopping, so even if I weren't a churchgoer, I would have masks for those purposes. If you work at home and have all your groceries delivered (or grow your own food), you may not need a mask.

Perhaps the best path for you is to continue worshipping from home until the epidemic has passed.

I'm just trying to add some reassurance in that the government seems to be acting the same way it did a century ago. I understand where you're coming from though. I've had similar thoughts and feelings about it.

I've been studying lots over the last 3 years. Reading and watching everything I can about Christ and the bible. I live in Alberta by the way. When the first set of covid restrictions came in most churches obeyed the law and went with all the masking and 1/3 of fire code capacity. Some churches didn't and were forced closed, pastors arrested.
Fast-forward to now. Restrictions back in and I just I finally built the courage to goto church and try my best to be a new Christian hoping to be a regular member and be baptized into the church, but now the restrictions are back. Masks while sitting, attendance back to 1/3. Now I can't go! And I've watched church after church fold under the little pressure from the government, and I'm wondering where God's people really are. If we are going to allow the government to dictate the

Yes we are. Local government is God's will on earth.
Jesus died defending the authority of local government.

As long as the government doesn't ask anything of us which violates Christian principles, we have no reason to refuse.

Mask wearing, having capacity limits, and so on, are not a violation of Christian conviction or practice, and complying may well save lives. So we should do it while it is required by law.

I'd say go to church and start preparing for baptism; this stuff is a non-issue.

Not so obvious to me. I'm sensitive to changes in my body, so when I get infected with a virus, I'm aware of it before other people. So the extent of this virus and the restrictions were very necessary in my view of the situation.

So, is this a "the Philosophy of wearing a Protective Mask against Covid" thread?

I'm just attempting to get a handle on what the topic is.

Thanks!

There using it because the people of this country listen to online quacks with no college education, know experience in medicine...vs the millions of doctors and scientist who say you should take it. I do not care anymore...the human race is overpopulated anyways. I got a vaccine. I felt like i had a mild cold for a few days. People would rather listen to conspiracy theorist that facts. Know one should have to tell you to get you and your kids vaccines....the reward's far outweigh the risks. Polio Measles Small pox they killed billions they do not now...and polio was a death sentence or a life spent in a iron lung.

I was surprised last Sunday when we were told we didn't need to wear masks while we were sitting in the pews (church in Logan south of Brisbane).

We still had to wear them entering, exiting and proceeding to and from communion (don't ask me - I don't make the rules), but it was a relief to take the stupid things off for a while.

Meanwhile the people outside the SE Qld mask area don't have to wear masks at all. We visited friends recently in Toowoomba and Warwick, only to find we didn't even need the masks.

Incidentally a lady I know who had asthma was told the disposable masks have something in them that can trigger an asthmatic reaction. So she's using a cloth mask.

What I find interesting is that decades ago our own government/military did a study on mask effectiveness with viruses decades ago using thousands of volunteers. They exposed some people to the virus and let them circulate in rooms with hundreds of non-infected people. In some groups all the people including the infected person wore masks 24/7 in the other groups none of the people wore masks at all. Do you know what they found? Masks make no difference at all when viruses are involved.

In another study it was found that masks increased the likelihood of infection if they weren't used properly. Many harmful viruses on skin, or exposed to the environment die rather quickly. But if they have something warm and moist to cling to they can live for an extremely long time ...like on the outside of a cloth mask. Then when people take off the mask the virus is on their hands. Then they rub their eyes and whalla. Masks can cause the spread of COVID.

Funny though a lot of these studies and findings are suppressed and are very hard to locate any more. Do you remember when the virus levels really took off? It was about 3-4 weeks AFTER everyone said we all need to wear masks everywhere we go, not after it started to take off. I remember because other than myself and my wife who were exposed to it in Las Vegas in October of the previous year.... Yes, way before COVID officially came on the scene, I hadn't heard of anyone coming up positive for it. But then the testing can't differentiate between any strain of COVID or any strain of the flu either which is why there were no cases of flu, or deaths from it once the pandemic officially arrived.

Back to the Vegas event. The November before the pandemic we went to Vegas for a small vacation. There were 20 busloads of Chinese people at our hotel. Sure enough as we went to other hotels there were as many busloads of Chinese people there as well. In the casinos, in the restaurants, in every line, about 1 in 4 people were Chinese. I remember asking my wife how all these people from communist countries got visas and could afford plane tickets and hotels in Vegas of all places.

We were there for 4 days. My wife started not "feeling her best" on day 4. When we got home she got worse. Day 6 I got it. We were each in bed for 3 days. Exhaustion was the big thing. After about 5 days, I'd wake up feeling great. I was back to my old self. I'd hop out of bed and unload the dishwasher and be so exhausted I'd end up back in bed and asleep for 2-3 hours. Just drained completely beaten by a load of dishes.

3 months later I was replacing my own sewer line and some how must have gotten a scratch I didn't see or treat soon enough. My kids (Both nurses) had flown in to help their almost 60 year old dad finish digging the last 15 feet of line that was so deep the backhoe couldn't reach. That night I quit after a mere 12 hours digging and hauling dirt out of the hole with buckets. I went to bed instead of spending time with my wife and boys. My wife pointed out that that wasn't normal. An hour later they came in and checked on me. I had piled blankets an inch thick on the bed and was still cold. My sons came in to check on me and immediately got me out of bed and took me to the hospital. 106 fever. The nurse said that the previous record she had seen was 104.5. I said it was a wimpy record. My eldest said, dad, after 103 degrees you start killing brain cells. I replied, "Well damn, if they don't get this under control in the next few weeks I'll be as smart as you." My youngest laughed. Of course I was covered in ice bags and my teeth were chattering at that point ... and I remember non e of those events or the next day. Almost got to go home to the Lord that night.

Anyway, COVID had made the news quite heavily and they tested me for it. I had the antibodies but not that virus. I had a bad bacterial infection. after 9 days on intravenous antibiotics they released me. As my family was taking me home they were closing down the hospitals for COVID. Only patients allowed past the lobby. Interestingly, the first batch of COVID from months prior never really caught on.

You so realize if i can not read an response in 1 min my eyes glaze over. Finally every article you found You can find 10 articles debunking and some debunking thoses. So what do we know...for decades surgeons when doing operations were mask so as not spread disease. What do we know about vaccines. I know the arguably most deadly disease in the last several thousand years was small pox...vaccines eradicated it...it know longer exists outside a laboratory. I know polio which was death sentence before the invented the iron lung and even after your normally did not live long...they made a vaccine...polio exists now in third world countries. What is really scary all of the anti-vaccine people are actually increasing the risk of diseases that we had under control for decades are starting to make a comeback. Measles kills and causes blindness. You all go on about covid...it is a glorified flu virus...there are worse ones out there that society got under control and there starting to making a comback because of the idiocy of people who think vaccines and masks and doctors and scientist do not know anything.

3 months later I was replacing my own sewer line and some how must have gotten a scratch I didn't see or treat soon enough.

In my last job one of the clients I transported had been a plumber. He told me that a few years ago he had been working on a septic system, when a microscopic bit of stuff landed on a cold sore.

To cut a long story short he ended up with life long medical complications, and had to use a walker to get around.

On a personal note I haven't got much time for the anti-vax attitude. God's given us a brain and He expects us to use it, which includes being able to make vaccines, and enough common sense to use them.
