Does satan being known as the father of lies.

Imply christian growth and development involves pursuit and exploration of truth.

Gaining knowledge and becoming better informed is one key thing christians can do to protect themselves from misinformation and lies. Which are usually propagated by satan and the forces of darkness.

John 14:6
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.“

All around the world today, we see people supporting things that are bad for society. There are many false prophets speaking lies, causing division. Many walking a false path paved by lies and dishonesty.

Could it be more important than ever for christians to make an effort to read, study, learn, explore. Arm themselves with the truth and knowledge of Jesus. So as to never be victimized or led astray by the lies of the devil.

Matthew 16:17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed [it] unto thee, but My Father which is in heaven.

Truth only comes from the Father and not the minds or mouths of man. This statement is the foundation of Jesus' church.

Maybe then we should study with prayer asking for God's guidance in understanding. I think what you are saying points out that without faith, the Bible is a dead book studied for polemic purposes to debate versus to understand. Still a few years ago, amidst the apologetics wars that are waged here, I realized that when someone is shown the truth and yet rejects it, they are working in the spirit of division and not in the spirit of Christ.

But it's very seldom that someone here is shown the truth and it's beyond being doubted.

Almost always, it's a presentation of the truth as some denomination has decided it's supposed to be. The claim often comes with some Bible verse or bit of logic in addition, but many times there is also evidence, etc. which runs towards the opposite conclusion.

Frequently, that other evidence or reasoning hadn't been known to the first person so that he, having already committed to one "truth," finds it nearly impossible to reorganize his whole religious life and affiliations at that point, and so he resists it.

Yes Christians should make every effort to be able to give a reason for their faith/belief and they should be helped and encouraged by their ministers preaching challenging sermons.
sites like wintery knight, reasonablefaith etc should be very familiar to Christians.

The Bible is a book that has been used to serve the purposes of both those who serve self and those who serve God. Both can sound quite logical although self serving man tends to go overboard and create religions and doctrines and does hold the majority within 'Christianity' as we see it. As Jesus said, truth comes from God, not the minds and mouths of man. That was the foundation of His church.

Your will or the will of God. Man's governance or God's governance. There is no compromise. It's that simple. It is what Jesus taught. It was his Gospel of the Kingdom. One or the other.

Perhaps if the focus was put back on Jesus' only Gospel, the Gospel of the Kingdom, then people would stop thinking about 'what's in it for us' while building a false religion around that selfish hope, and return to the concept that it was all about the return of God to establish governance over mankind. Yes we will benefit as a result in the end, but man will not let go of self serving ways easily (especially our own anti-Christ governments of every make) and that includes the Church which re-aligned itself with the governments of man rather than the governance of God, centuries ago.

Indeed, Christians should be seekers if truth and God's nature is truth. The Mosaic Law is truth (Psalms 119:142) because it is God's instruction for how to act in accordance with God's nature and Jesus is the living embodiment of the truth (John 14:6) because he is the exact expression of God's nature (Hebrews 1:3), which he expressed through his actions by living in sinless obedience to it. In Ezekiel 36:26-27, the Spirit has the role of leading us to obey the Mosaic Law, in John 16:13, the Spirit has the role of leading us in truth, and again the Mosaic Law is truth. In John 8:31-36, it is sin in transgression of the Mosaic Law that puts us in bondage while it is the truth that sets us free. In John 17:17, God’s word is truth, and the Mosaic Law is God’s word. In 2 Timothy 3:8, those who oppose the truth also oppose Moses, being of corrupted minds, and disqualified in regard to the faith.
