Does God listen to non-christians when they pray

Will my prayers be unheard if I am not a Christian? If I call upon the name of the Lord Jesus, in response to a tragic event that is happening, will my prayers be unheard?

If you read Romans 10:13

“Whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved”

Call on His name to save you. You'll never look back.

No, that is it is of no account to God except for the call to salvation in His Son , that He will recognize and respond to.

He sent His son to die for the sins of man that they could have a righteous pathway to Him. When we accept Jesus Christ we set up communication. So many refuse this offer that for the life of me I don't understand except that they want to do things their way. All along Jesus Christ is the way the truth and the life, no man comes to the Father but through Him. Period. It's Gods will that Jesus be that path, He gave all authority to His Son. People want God to accept them on their own terms when it's He who set the standard long before the foundation of the earth.

John 9:31 King James Bible
Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.

Deuteronomy 1:45
And you returned and wept before the LORD, but He would not listen to your voice or give ear to you.

Job 27:8
For what is the hope of the godless when he is cut off, when God takes away his life?

Job 35:13
Surely God does not listen to empty pleas, and the Almighty does not take note of it.

Psalm 34:15
The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, and His ears are inclined to their cry.

Psalm 66:18
If I had cherished iniquity in my heart, the Lord would not have listened.

Psalm 145:19
He fulfills the desires of those who fear Him; He hears their cry and saves them.

Proverbs 15:29
The LORD is far from the wicked, but He hears the prayer of the righteous.

I was 5 years old, and had no idea who Jesus was, until my 1st grade teacher told us a little about Him. See, back then, every night, demons would attack me and scare the life out of me. So, I asked Him to help me with these things pinning me down in my bed. He didn't ignore me, but rescued me from those attacks and saved me on top of it.

I've been pinned down by possibly the same demons. Not at 5yo but none the less it happened. Don't think they won't pin down a believer too or as well, but we have power in His name to cast them out !

Also I couldn't help but note that in your testimony your first grade teacher was free to speak of Jesus. Something that is missing from our world today. In fact I heard from a teacher 5th-8th grade over this past weekend, they can't call boys boys or girls girls but they are to view them as paint brushes till they decide on their own identity. Then they can be called by the identity they chose. This is in the USA.

I grew up in South Africa, and we have a lot of religious freedom, for which I'm deeply thankful. It was also the reason why it was possible to be called into workplace ministry, many years later.

God called Peter while Peter was yet a sinner. God called Paul after Paul voted to stone Stephen, a believer. Will a sinner get everything he or she wants?

Probably not.

Well we have religious freedom too, as long as it's not Christ spoken of in public school. Ala is fine, Buddha is great etc etc. Gay and trans gender is fine, in fact about anything goes. No Christian prayer or Jesus Christ. And there are people advocating that this is fine.

That is so sad. He is the only reason I'm alive today.

I think it depends on your story.. Is it a prayer of repentance or just some drive through prayer, coming from someone, who is not really wanting to give their life to Christ, but they are praying simply because, they were raised in a Christian home!

Do you know the story of Jesus and the Syrophoencian Woman? (Mark 7:24-30)

Jesus refused to heal her daughter calling her a dog.

But she told Him That even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall of the table of the children.

and so Jesus marvelling at her faith healed her daughter.

So yes Jesus will heed your prayer if you have faith in His loving truth, just like that Syrophoencian woman once did.

(Finding Jesus as Saviour of your heart is greatest, i'm sure that Syrophoencian woman was a believer after Jesus healed her daughter, what you think?)

Peace.

God will hear your prayer and may even answer it. Several folks have given great references when Jesus did just that. They didn't necessarily have faith that he was the son of God, but they at least had faith that he could heal. God can even work miracles through unbelievers. He talks about it in Matthew 7:21-23. However, even though He chose to work miracles through them, they do not believe, therefore they will not be saved from the judgement to come.

The summation of that is: "So does God answer the prayers of unbelievers? A strict yes or no answer is difficult without qualifying the answer in various ways".

The OP asked: "Will my prayers be unheard if I am not a Christian? If I call upon the name of the Lord Jesus, in response to a tragic event that is happening, will my prayers be unheard?"

The centurion asked Jesus for help regarding a tragic event, and Jesus ignored him and kept waking. No wait, Jesus listened and healed the centurion's servant.

I think that was because the centurion wasn't asking anything for himself, but rather pleading for another.

Not really. Why would anyone call on God, unless God gave them reason to do so? Do you think the circumstances of unbelievers' lives are not "allowed" —caused— by God?

How did you go from Saved to un-Saved?

Unrepented sin CAN hinder one's prayers, but God is not a machine. He can override that principle, if it still serves His purposes.

Why waffle on that point? Just get right with Him [per 1 John 1:9] and resume your relationship with Him.
He paid a terrible Price to make that option available to you.
