Over 16,000,000 who voted for Biden regret it.

Heaven forbid people hold someone accountable instead of making excuses like was constantly done with Biden's predecessor. He was just "doing his best", he "wasn't like other politicians," he's "got a plan,". All the rationalizations of a borderline cult following.

The less said about Biden's predecessor, the better -- Biden screwed up, and the people are unhappy. Nothing more.

Some folks would like you to think the sky is falling -- but only those who want the sky to fall.

Now I know that polls have very little predictive value this far from the election, but FWIW if you want to gauge public opinion, look at the latest Trump vs. Biden polls. The latest Emerson poll shows Trump a point ahead of Biden. The most recent Rasmussen poll shows Trump leading Biden by six. Again, we don’t have a lot of data, but what little we have shows Trump far stronger against Biden than he even was against Hillary Clinton…

pssst….. it is not his ‘followers’ that bring him into virtually every thread. Even the ones about Biden.

This was not an "impossible situation".

He was handed a lost war with an agreement already in place that the US would pull out. He was then left to manage that withdrawal. A withdrawal of vast numbers of people and equipment from a country whose native government and army collapsed almost immediately the US started to retreat.

So what exactly should he have done? To stop the Taliban advancing so quickly would have required military resources, the very same resources they were trying to pull out. Once the Taliban were sweeping across the country, then it was basically guaranteed to be chaos.

The abuse aimed at Biden seems to come from some strange presumption that you can retreat from a hostile country while simultaneously keeping control in that country while your forces pull out. This fantasy should have died a death after the chaos of Saigon, so I have no idea why it continues to be so widely believed. Well actually I do have an idea, which is that Americans are so convinced that their military is the ultimate force on the planet that no enemy can stand against, that they lose a bit of a grasp on reality when it comes to things like this. It turns out that having the best planes, tanks, missiles and ships doesn't actually mean you can always control anywhere you please.

So what exactly should he have done? To stop the Taliban advancing so quickly would have required military resources, the very same resources they were trying to pull out.

Back in July when the President KNEW the Taliban were on a violent and aggressive takeover of the country he should have utilized the tools he already had in country to:

First get civilians out of harms way
Second get military equipment out or make it inoperable
Third then withdraw the final troops.

Biden had Bagram Airforce Base with a 1 mile secure perimeter, 22,174 Humvees, 8,000 trucks, 169 Armored Personnel carriers - 4 C130 Transport aircraft on a fully functioning secure airbase with double the runways of Kabul.

There were 33 UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters fully armed that could provide support.

If Biden had not been so worried about how it would look and instead focused on getting his citizens out back in JULY - they could have accomplished the same timeline with no one left behind and our enemies would not now be one of the best equipped terrorist organizations on earth.

Yeah, because that was just doable without any kind of protocol in place that may delay it at all.

Do you know all the facts involved with the discussions here? No. Me neither, so I don't assume they were just dragging their feet on purpose, but that there were extenuating circumstances or red tape that prolonged this needlessly (kind of like the military policy and foreign policy in the first place that dragged this out for 2 decades)

You mean the plan that the military discarded because Bagram was harder to get to from Kabul? Who knows, maybe it could have worked better, there seem to be plenty of divergent opinions from senior military figured about it. Wherever they left from though, having convoys of civilians flooding to the departure area, in hostile territory and only a limited military force there to protect them was always going to result in casualties.

I don't think Biden did a perfect job or anything, but honestly I'm surprised your casualties were as low as they were. I don't think there was any scenario where the US just walked away clean from a war they just lost.

In the world, not everything is about Trump.
Sure, in the world, but in a poll about the 2020 presidential election, he figures large.

Evidently 20% of Democratic Voters do not buy into the “But Trump….” Defense and are actually holding the President accountable for his own actions.
And the other 80% seem to....
