The issue here is the apparent ban on retransitioning, i.e. recognizing you are indeed what you were born to be. There hasn't been any legal pushback on people deciding they were the other gender.

no it's a ban on engaging in abusive behavior by subjecting children to pseudoscience that is known to not just be ineffective but actively harmful

so it not supportive of choice just in conformity to what the so called therapist wants.

In 2021 the Texas state legislature has introduced 54 anti-transgender bills ranging from allowing private companies to deny medical insurance to transgender employees or any employee who has a transgender dependent to a bill that would allow medical professionals, even emergency medical staff, from having to in any way care for a transgender individual to a bill that allows protective services workers to open an investigating abuse or neglect by a transgender individual without first having evidence, complaint or cause.

Methinks there's a problem of communication in that they're talking about people retransitioning (being the "other" gender, as they put it), but the context isn't clear enough that they aren't just talking about trans people that are trying to be their best selves (and not going against what they were "meant" to be, as if your sex is just the sole factor for identity, when it's definitely just a small factor at best)
