Open borders are ridiculous. They certainly aren't biblical.

Actually, we haven't had completely open borders since the late 1800s. Chinese Exclusion Act was the first step, but still didn't close the borders to the vast majority of possible immigrants. That came later.

For much of its history, America had essentially open borders, both before the establishment of the United States and after. In 1921 the Emergency Quota Act, initially intended to be a temporary measure, imposed the first serious restrictions on entry into the United States.
Open Borders in America: A Look Back and Forward

Since that time, the Founder's idea of open borders has not existed in the United States.

One of the earliest known references to paperwork that served in a role similar to that of a passport is found in the Hebrew Bible. Nehemiah 2:7–9, dating from approximately 450 BC, states that Nehemiah, an official serving King Artaxerxes I of Persia, asked permission to travel to Judea; the king granted leave and gave him a letter "to the governors beyond the river" requesting safe passage for him as he traveled through their lands.

In Israel, however, the borders didn't work like that:

Leviticus 19:33 If a stranger dwell in your land, and abide among you, do not upbraid him: [34] But let him be among you as one of the same country: and you shall love him as yourselves: for you were strangers in the land of Egypt. I am the Lord your God.

Considering the US doesn't have open borders, I don't get what your point is.
In the law books, they don't have open borders. In reality they do.

AOC stated to ex ICE commander that people coming to the US have committed no crime. He retorted that "If you want to come to the US you go through the proper protocol.

There are hundreds of people in que and doing proper paperwork in order to come to the US. These others are not.

This tragedy at the south US border has become a haven for sex trafficking and drug trafficking.

Is immigration a good thing? Absolutely. In fact it is necessary. However, a country is like a living cell in the human body. Each cell has a cell membrane that lets in what it needs to function and lets out what it doesn't need. Every chemical that comes to the cell is vetted and allowed in if needed or rejected if it will harm the cell or is not necessary for the cell to function.

The US border is like a cell with a broken wall. This leads to a diseased cell.

God is my witness, I love people from everywhere. A Puerto Rican gave me a gorgeous accomplished granddaughter! Another lovely granddaughter is biracial. Six of my neices are multi-racial! God bless us everyone and keep us safe from the drug cartels and gangs and human traffickers and other evils.

Um, Puerto Rico is in the United States...

"Open borders" would be the way it was before the 1900s; people could just arrive and cross the border legally.

The founders didn't consider this to be harmful at all.

But the problem with Trump's wall was that it was such an expensive proposal that there was really no way to fund it aside from raising corporate taxes (which is why it didn't happen)

The idea that the wall is too expensive is absurd. Especially when you consider what we spend on illegal migrants, and not just the usual stuff as far as border patrol and detention centers, but things like putting them up in motels, and Biden secretly flying and busing them across the country. There is no way you can convince me this is too expensive, especially with some of the giant South American/ Central American caravans of the past!

And doubly so since we already paid for most of it, sections of steel slats were just lying their on the ground in place waiting for a contractor to come by and assemble/install it. This is actually government waste at its finest!!

It's interesting when the National Guard was guarding Washington in the aftermath of the riots, we had them sleeping in government buildings, and parking garages but we got money for hotels, and airplanes for illegal aliens, not to mention sometimes paying for their medical care etc. But they say a wall or steel slat fence is too expensive.... maybe they got another agenda huh?

California was my home state it's really interesting what has been spent on the dubious Bullet Train boondoggle. There is no way that a fence on our Southern border is worse than that project!

California’s high-speed rail is the very definition of a boondoggle – Orange County Register

And? Do you guys know what open borders mean???
Ummm, kinda, yeah.

People are free??

As the Lord created them??

Kinda the way the border was on the eastern seaboard of North and South America, which allowed all those terrorists to come in from Europe and destroy and enslave the peoples who lived in the Americas for hundreds of years.

Sorry. That would be history. Something many people don’t like.

We have 20K Border Patrol Agents who have since the last fiscal year (so there's a bit of Trump overlap here), conducted 1.3 million enforcement actions at the southern border, 850k of which were under the authority of Title 42, which means they were summarily expelledwithout a hearing. Biden also just a couple of months ago reinstituted expedited removal. If that's your idea of an open border, what does a closed border look like to you?

Is God having the last word about the border wall?

I wonder if he is saying, "let my people in..."

Trump’s border wall reportedly in severe disrepair in Arizona

Trump’s border wall reportedly in severe disrepair in Arizona
When Donald Trump launched his presidential campaign in 2015 by saying “Nobody builds walls better than me”, it was to say the least a questionable claim.

Trump insisted the “great wall” he planned for the southern US border, to keep out unwanted migrants, would be “impenetrable, physical, tall, powerful, beautiful”.

Photographs published by the website Gizmodo appear to show sections of the partially constructed wall in southern Arizona in severe disrepair, torn apart by summer monsoon rains that the site said “literally blew floodgates off their hinges”

Apparently…. some people have not been to TX or AZ lately …..I guess that includes California also, but I have not been there.

It’s a mess…. over two hundred thousand a month many of whom are being bussed and flown throughout the US. That is not what I would call a controlled border …it’s open and the illegals are totally aware of that.

And there are several in congress who continue to push for open or no borders whatsoever.

Most of those folks are Christian. They're even anti-abortion conservatives.

I don't have to live in Texas to listen to the news and watch what the officials and leaders are saying about the damage that is being done by Biden telling everyone to "come".

The sex and drug trade are having a hay day.

The Canadian border is the longest unprotected border in the world for good reason. We are great neighbors to each other.

You can even come here for "all dressed" Potato chips if you want.

Things and times change.
I very much doubt that a border where anyone and everyone could just come and go would be healthy for any country today.

Do you remember the flack that the US gave Canada in 2001 when they accused the Canadians from letting the terrorists in?

To your question: For the most part the Hispanic population in the us votes Democrat. This is why the Dems fought against Trump in building the wall, and continually fight to have illegals vote.

Only recently. And at that, Democrats have to work hard to keep them.

Hispanics tend to be conservative. Up until recently--actually, up until the Trump administration--Hispanics tended to vote Republican.

Republicans need to ask themselves how they chased away the Hispanic vote, because that's all on them.

You do have a "closed border". It just has huge holes in it. A closed border, to me, since you asked, would be to complete the wall and then systematically monitor, vet and control everyone coming into the country.

Glad to see that Biden is now going to finish the wall and that the supreme court has advised that Biden reinstate the policy of "remain in Mexico" for court hearings.

Do you have documentation to back up this statement?

Also, I don't think that those being abused and killed by the drug and sex trade really care what the religious beliefs are of those who are allowing this to happen.

From my experience there are lots of Christians who are strong Democrats and strong Republicans.

Their religious and political views don't seem to matter to the women being raped. The children being trafficked and the fact that there has been enough Fentanyl brought into the US to kill every citizen twice over.

What's misleading about that article is that they are not "Trump's" Latino voters. If anything, they're Bush's Latino voters. The Latino vote was stronger under the Bush administration (a period which that graph does not show) because Bush was able to keep his rhetoric straight about the values of Latino voters (all of which are legal) versus illegal immigrants...which Trump was not able to do.
