By all indications President Biden is a devout Christian or at least he claims to be. Is it proper for any Christian to say that we will never forgive? No doubt he was expressing much emotional pain at the attack in Kabul, so his words are understandable. What think all of you?

My title was posted in error. It should have said, "We will never forgive and never forget".

Now, by all indications President Biden is a devout Christian. Is it proper for any Christian to say that we will never forgive? No doubt he was expressing much emotional pain at the attack in Kabul, so his words are understandable. What think all of you?

It is not proper to say that, but I myself have said similar words so I understand why he has done so. Jesus on the contrary forgave even in the act of being murdered, and we should do the same and never take vengeance but "overcome evil with good."

You can fix it by hitting clicking on "Thread tools" area to right of the end of the thread title, and selecting "Edit thread title" or something like that.

I would say something like the classic line "Of course there will be consequences...." Implying that yes I will bomb/missile something or somebody to punish them for the act.

When you are a leader you are expected to protect the people who count on you. The ancient trope used by Israel and other ancient gentile nations was the Shepard. As a shepherd you are not suppose to forgive the wolves that eat your sheep but kill them and protect your sheep and if you do this well the wolves move on. Turning the cheek etc. is great when that comes to yourself etc. but you should not sacrifice the people who depend on you in the name of turning the other cheek. IF you do that, then you are not worthy to be a leader.

We should automatically have forgiveness in our hearts.
But the forgiveness has no use, until the offending party repents.

That is why the Lord says to repent, so frequently in the Bible.
He wishes for his endless forgiveness to bless us.

Hi.. forgive me but how did you come to the conclusion Biden is a devout Christian? What are we forgiving him for? The soldiers that got killed because of what he did? Or how many men women children dead because of what he did? He and many others. He is the one that said the buck stops here.. so even in Gods eyes.. he will answer for this. Easy to forgive not looking into the families eyes that lost loved ones.

Devout Christian.. this is odd to me in moments like this. Well when President Trump many times had ministries come into the white house or he was in some Church had them pray for him.. had singers worshiping Christ in the white house..when he cried many times as they prayed for him. He remembered God..and Christs name yet the world and many believers ..still make fun of him.. "hes no Christian".. just awful things. Yet Biden does none of those things.. shows up in some Church which does not mean you know Christ as lord.

Forgiveness oh praise GOD GLORY TO JESUS! Always. No sin is without price in this world. Biden has to answer to a GOD for this nation which was given to God at the start. Then for the mess he is still doing in Afgan.

Want to add this since the GROUP that gets attacked and they will NOT boast about it to get glory. A jet that IS and more being used to get Christians and others out of Afgan..that Jet? Copelands let them use it..freely. And just WHO was stopping them the most from getting people out of Afgan? The STATE DEPARTMENT.

So forgive me not here to offend.. there is so much going on here. Now Christ.. who will tell them I died and forgave them?

trump is a very, very poor example of somebody who claims to be a Christian. His chronic lying, cheating others, including the IRS, and serial adultery (even when his wife was pregnant!) clearly show who he is. Biden is a decent, honorable, Christian leader who is doing everything he can to rectify the damage done by trump, including the deal he (trump) made with the Taliban.

Biden promotes abortion for goodness sake! How is that being a decent, honourable Christian leader? :rolleyes:o_O:eek:

The Nation on the whole is secular, therefore you cannot expect it to forgive.

On the other hand.

The Nation is in the mess it is in and I don't just mean our with drawl from Afghanistan, because We who have the Authority to change things have not taken the Authority we have been given, and applied it.

We are not Praying for our Nation, asking forgiveness of our sins, or it's Leaders that they be given wisdom rather than a Political bias for one party or the other, when their responsibility is to Make America
operate properly for the betterment of it's people.

If Christians did take the Authority they do possess and Prayed, then things would be different, but they are not different, that is how you are able to tell Christians are not Praying, we have shirked our Responsibility, and we will be held accountable for what we as Christians have allowed to take place in our Nation.

Can you as a Christian honestly say, things would not be different if we had been Praying the way we should be, and again, I am not just talking about our with drawl from Afghanistan?

I am giving him the benefit of the doubt. He does attend church on a regular basis anyway.

By all indications President Biden is a devout Christian or at least he claims to be.

Matthew 7:15-20
You Will Know Them by Their Fruits
15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. 16 You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? 17 Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Therefore by their fruits you will know them.

I don't think it's proper at all for a Christian to say; although, I'm wondering if he meant to say, "We will never forget." I don't know. Personally, a politician of any stripe can say they are Christain and my expectations are still going to be low. I think he was , perhaps, feeling the emotion. I don't see why not. Certainly, he was appealing to emotion.

He claims to be a devout Catholic. He has some trouble with Catholic moral teaching though, enough for some to wonder if his claim to be Christian is accurate or not. Far be it for me to dispute his claim but many wonder. As a Catholic I have to accept he is also a Catholic, but I don't have to pretend he is a good Catholic. Anyhow, that is for God to judge. I don't have to. But on the other hand I don't have to presume he is a good Catholic either.

We have to forgive. Whether that be before or after any retaliation option. Even so, required. We do not have to forget though. Biden misspoke for some reason or another. He does a lot of that, so maybe it wasn't even what he intended to say. Who knows?

He says he is a devout Catholic. But then he is at odds with Catholic moral teaching on a bunch of issues.

Politicos can't seem to grant the Christianity of their political enemies. It's an old story.

What think all of you?

I think 13 soldiers were killed.
And 1 drone strike was made shortly following vs a targeted ISIS-K planner.
12 more strikes doesn't seem unreasonable to me.

But yes, I cringe a little at "never forgive".
Kind of hard to forgive that which is never repented of however.
I expect any ISIS-K genuinely surrendering and seeking mercy might still find it?
I'm just not sure we are going to find any of those.
