I thought for sure with all the little projects I did yesterday that I would be tired and able to sleep better.

Nope.

Went to bed at a very reasonable hour, but was up a bit after 3:30am. Now I'm medicating, drinking coffee, and trying to plan out my Friday. This is shaping up to be a day where I get the entire day's tasks completed around noon and then I sit and twiddle my thumbs.

Going back has had a positive impact on my heart. There are things you can't see without a mirror. I'm able to contemplate my response in ways I couldn't otherwise. Because it doesn't come up. Sometimes I'm surprised by what comes out. I haven't pondered the question (in years) or my perspective changed.

Now I know why I've never married. What was holding me back and why I said no. Some of it came out with @sampa and the rest through written reflections to another. I don't want to be in a cage or confined to a life of drudgery. Work, home, and friends from time to time. I need more than that.

I've spent a lot of time listening. Especially in this forum. I've paid attention to the things members shared about their faith and their approach to marriage. I realized a few things because of it.

I'm not looking for a pastor (behavior wise) or someone with a regimented approach. I don't want to be micromanaged spiritually. Even if he means well. I'm not his student. I want someone who talks to me not at me. Because he's so determined to show authority he doesn't realize he's looking down.

I used to think I'd enjoy some of the things people talk about. But it feels like work. If we pray, study the bible, or read a devotional I don't want to do it because we should. I want us to do it because we're interested. We like the topic, want to learn more, or try something different. Not because of expectations hanging over our heads.

Maybe because I've gotten rid of the should's I can't stomach them now. Or I spent too much time in @public hermit's cave sipping the good stuff.

I thought for sure you were about to share one of my enlightening quotes on marriages and relationships. Because, you know me. Lol. But, of course, you can always come by my cave for coffee. ^_^

Blessings to both of you and the contributions that you make to this forum. It's very late but @SarahsKnight I've been wondering how your work is going. I look forward to hearing more when I get back.

No problems as of the last couple of weeks, thanks, other than just that underlying tension or discomfort any of us feel on shifts when supervision is around. =/ On the plus side, I may be able to spend a night or two on the same shift as my crush here in a week or so. That will be something to look forward to. :)

On days off at home, which I have 96 hours off coming up when I get out of work this afternoon, I have been journeying through an old PS1 game Wild Arms 2, which I attempted two or three times in the past ever since it first came out when I was a young teen, but something always halted my progress for some reason. This time - especially since I am such a fan of the four other games in the Wild Arms series due to its strong worldbuilding, catchy music, fascinating locations to explore, and oft lovably childlike and pure characters - I am determined to see this playthrough to the end. About 20 hours on the game clock so far and I expect that I am at least halfway through the story, the farthest I have ever gotten before, so everything from here is new and exciting to me. ^-^

Thanks for checking up on me, Miss Sampa. :satisfied:

Hmm. There's always the "Second Bible Read Thread" for you to peruse if you are interested in possibly learning more without feeling pressured or obligated in any way, Miss Bella. That just occurred to me. It had been done in 2018, I think, here in the singles community. I thought of it now because I remember wanting to do the year-long reading because I personally wanted to, to hear others' takes on various subjects and events in Scripture and possibly glean wisdom from them - not because some famous pastor or televangelist said somewhere that if we don't keep up with Bible readings and "personal time with God" rituals, then we're not being good little Christians or whatever. It sounds like you may hold generally the same sentiments as I do on this. :)

Who knows? Perhaps one day I will make a third thread for reading through the Bible in a year again. ^-^

Thank you dear knight. :yellowheart:

I'm not talking about the things we're doing now. Rather, what you feel you should be doing or will be doing when married. Realistically, you can't predict it. If you're planning to have a family and working you won't be doing as much as you'd assume. Finding time for God is a popular topic. Many struggle when demands kick in.

Rigidity causes stress and disappointment. You have to be able to adapt to changes. You can't foresee what that entails until you're there. If it "has to be a certain way" I'd be uncomfortable. That's not how life goes.

I think that places a burden which doesn't belong on believer's shoulders. God isn't a slave driver. If you have that mindset you'll do the same to your spouse.

Who knows? Perhaps one day I will make a third thread for reading through the Bible in a year again. ^-^

Maybe you should. It sounds like fun. :)

Yes. Indeed, I believe such mentality can only lead to harm.

I have had my betta fish a month. Tonight I got 3 neon tetras & a snail to go with her.

It seems to be doing okay. She's tired to go after the tetras a couple times but they are too quick for her. For the most part she ignores them. She likes the sides of the tank so they stay in the middle. They really school! The snail is a lot cooler than I thought it'd be. It was like it was doing laps around the tank, but now it's just sort of sitting.

Hopefully it goes okay & the cycle doesn't get overwhelmed. I'll be testing it everyday for ammonia.

Facebook Marketplace is great. I just picked up a free pool table someone was giving away in the free section. It was a fiasco trying to load it up in the van, but mission accomplished! Danke Lord

Jars of Clay, in my opinion, is one of the best band names out there. Speaking on which, I wish they would make a new album. The last record they put out was several years ago.
