I just got done playing through Castlevania (NES) for the umpteenth time, was able to end the game with 8 lives and a score of 202,000 which is pretty good for me.

I'm probably going to start a game of Super Metroid (SNES) here in a little bit

Just beat Ori and the Blind Forest and I'm on a Metroidvania kick. Especially since Metroid Dread is coming out, I wanted to play Super Metroid and then I think after that I'll give the Samus Returns Remake a go.

Super Metroid is a great game. I like how it just throws you in and let's you explore. There isn't any explanation of what your doing, just discovering the game's mechanics and figuring out how to advance. Though there are a few cryptic parts that I managed to avoid due to having them spoiled in a review I saw.

Playing Sonic CD (in Sonic Gems Collection) some. I never made much progress in that game in the past, but now I managed to finish all the stages! And finally beat Metal Sonic after multiple tries. I think Metal Sonic is the hardest boss in the game...the final boss is actually pretty easy (although getting to him can be difficult). But I only got two Time Stones and around four good futures, so I'll have to keep trying!

The stages are kind of short, but it's still a pretty good game.

Got hooked on Genshin Impact. It's a Chinese RPG game built like a MMO, but without, ya know, all the other players. It's huge, it has nice art and music, it gets regular updates, and most importantly, it's free to play. There is a co-op option if you get lonely.

It's definitely not an action game, though. There are plenty of tough fights available, but if you don't like to sit through a lot of dialogue or spend a lot of time exploring, this is not the game for you.

Exploring in the game is my favorite part. It has great art design and the BOTW inspired traversal is a joy. Game can be difficult though or maybe it's just me. It can be tricky deciding who to summon for as well. With Aloy coming out, I have less need for Yomiya, but I do like her aesthetic.

Oh, it can certainly be difficult at times. I made a huge mistake when I did the AR25 ascension quest before ascending each of my characters at level 40. Once I finished the quest, the world level went up, which meant all the monsters including the bosses jumped up in level. And I need to beat the bosses to get the materials to ascend the characters. So my character ascensions became much more difficult.

I'm working through them, but that Oceanid boss, eesh, I can't beat it. So Barbara isn't going to get past 40 anytime soon.

I am looking forward to Aloy, so I can have a cryo alternative to Kaeya. I have Ayaka too, but I'm a long way from getting to her homeland of Inazuma, so I can't get her past 40. Hopefully Aloy's ascension materials will be more reasonable.

That is brutal man. I can imagine the struggle you went through. Took me a while to beat any of the ascension material bosses and I still haven't beat the Oceanid one. My Barbara is level 40 too.

Ayaka is pretty cool. I did a multi but didn't wind up with her. Shame you can't level her up more without Inazuma. My main cyro is Eula. Aloy should be helpful as I am lacking in a great bow user. I would love it if Aloy could be made ridiculously overpowered without much effort. Some enemies drive me nuts like the abyss mages so I need a death machine to wipe them out.

Oh, Ayaka is a fun character. She's a bit of a glass cannon, but if the enemies are wet, she can freeze them just by sprinting next to them. I took her, Barbara, Kaeya and Noelle, all level 40, against a level 50 pyro regisvine boss, and had no problem beating it. Alternating Ayaka's and Kaeya's cryo attacks works wonders on that boss.

So I ascended my electro and pyro characters, along with the Traveler, and now I have to figure out how to beat the anemo and geo bosses. But now that I've got a few characters leveled up past 40 a bit, I've got better chances.

Abyss mages, huh? Fatui skirmishers for me. Electrohammers and hydrogunners etc.

I get the impression you are much better at switching characters and using the different elemental weaknesses and combos than me. That is what I need to work on most. Genshin could have used more of a tutorial on that IMO. Childe took me so many times to beat.

Good luck with the geo and anemo bosses. I have to level up my characters too. Fatui skirmishers are pretty tough but what drives me nuts with the abyss mages is their shields, teleporting near you and doing damage from that, and being stuck in a bubble. Still, it's a neat game. I like that they keep adding to it by introducing housing, outfits, and so on.

Oh, yeah, I've been reading up on Childe. I guess he's next up in my main quest. I've put that off until I get leveled up enough, since the instance says it's recommended for level 47. That's going to be a tricky fight.

There's that one temple that helps you practice switching characters and using elemental combinations. The Temple of the Lion. There's still a couple of those fights I haven't beaten yet.

I do like the game's variety. There's all sorts of things to do. Now I have the story quests and hangouts opening up. All sorts of exploration. I finished collecting the "Legend of the Shattered Halberd" books today. I haven't even gotten to the furnishings yet.

I use Fischl a lot. Her dialogue cracks me up.

I died several times and wondered if I would give up on the game because of him lol. But if I could defeat Childe, I'm sure you can too.

I may have skipped that temple or I forgot about it. Thanks for the reminder. :)

True, there is a ton of stuff. The housing system is still early so I assume over time it'll get better and better. Right now they only let you pick one member to live with you. I chose Jean since I had gotten her outfit. I've only done two or three hangouts so far.

Fischl has one of the best backstories and personalities. The voice acting of her and Oz is excellent. The game has a lot of charm overall and I like that it's somewhat upbeat and has jokes sprinkled throughout. If you're going to come back to a game for the next ten years, I prefer it not be too depressing.

I've been playing the Final Fight (SNES) games for a few days now, as I am a big fan of the old school beat 'em ups. Having trouble progressing past the third level in the first one, that game is obscenely difficult even with the code for extra lives.

Having a lot of fun with Fallout Shelter lately.

Had some fun with a dweller born and raised in the vault who I've given the honorably dubbed Mr. Chocolate. Sent him into the wasteland, and not long after he stumbled upon an abandoned dinner inhabited by ghouls - didn't end well. I called him back, and raised his happiness level back too 100%.

I suspect that some of the other dwellers have been engaging in gossip behind his back.

I'm replaying Breath of Fire (SNES) right now. It's still a good game for the era in which it was made, but it somehow doesn't feel the same as it did when I was a kid. I've been noticing that a lot of RPGs of my youth don't seem to have the same charm that they used to. I guess I really have gotten older :(
