I'm not the greatest story writer, or artist. I'm not even that great of a programmer. But I see that christian video games are... lacking. I am baffled by the existence of certain titles (Like Noah's ark 3d which has nothing to do with Bible.) Biblical based games should be focused more on dialog not action. Which is why I started an adventure game.
The Adventures of Tuffy by lavaduder

The Story is about Tuffy (Currently just a circle with a tail.) Who gets into trouble to say the least. He needs to reach the GREAT I AM (The representation of God in the game) and confess what he has done, and what he needs to do. The main theme is repentance. (Please see the README.txt for further details.)

It's lacking to say the least, I tried drawing it in ballpoint ink to make it seem I am a better artist than I am. And I'm sure the grammar is incorrect at parts. Ah but it's a start, I would like to work with some one to correct areas where I lack.

The game's back end uses Godot Engine 3.1
Download | Linux

P.S. If you want to use the code for you're own purposes you can.

Just sharing a thought, if I were to create a video game.
I would create a game about 'the games people play to deny the Truth', including playing the video game. A game, once started, cannot restart from the beginning. You can only restart from where you left off. Once finished the game is lost forever. The end message is to put faith into action and face all your fears, day by day.

I would say instead of a Christian game, you should totally make a game with Christian undertones (ex. Narnia). I am creating an album that has very slight references to Christianity, almost like Kanye's DONDA album, and people seem more appreciative and approaching to it compared to an outright Christian themed work.

I'm with you on this about Narnia. I'd suggest allegory. I'm not sure Donda is the perfect example though, I'd rather suggest stuff like LOTR, Pilgrim's Progress, etc. Things that are a straight-up allegory. People are always more open to things being "poetic" so I'd suggest allegory in general plus it gives more lee-way for storytelling unless you plan on directly taking on an issue other than Christianity. Like for example if I was going to explore the question, "Is God Evil" I'd have to do that from two sides both atheistic and Christian to give proper context as a one-sided discussion is always meh, then you'd have to leave the ending up for interpretation or give a rather direct answer. Anyways.. allegory all the way!!

If this game is for linux only, is there an emulator to test it on? Interesting idea. Seeing as I have no job, and like to write shortstories, I could try. Two synopsises

1. Just us the bible, the character runs from the romans, different tasks that gives points. 5 points for tagging on the courthouse that has 1 level of security and less punishment if caught, than if you do it on the palace. Free a slave, get 10 points. Just use relatable paralels from contemporary times, so it has a hook. There is protests like under the romans, there is rioting, so about making a movement, and rioting to overturn the emperor, who has made your religion verboten. And you could make it so you use the credit you earn, to give the poor food, pray for the sick, etc. That in turn raise your status of sorts, so more folks join your movement and you can do bigger and bigger tasks. Ultimately you have a large enough following, and you can take on caesars palace, either you win that cuts to an end scene where you and a cheering mass of people watch him battle a lion, or the reverse if you lose. This is pretty much how the hobbit, star wars, etc were made. same story ripped off.

You could also incorporate special events, like a virus plaguing the folks, and the taks in the game is to heal them and stop the plague. Just like real life now. Just try to incorporate relatable current events, so it peaks an interest.

2. I do not know how this gameidea could become so fun, but nevertheless. Could do some gameplay about spreading the relion perhaps, and you must beat competing religions and spread strategical, like civilization. Instead of using the industry to build weapons, you invent tech like the printing press, and massproduce bibles, send out missionaries. Baseline production of food, irrigation, churches must be built, to keep the folks happy, and keep spreading. And you can throw in events, that relates to verses, so either they must know them, or they are forced to read scripture if they want to advance in the game.

Hard to know, when I cannot play your game yet. If you liked any of them, I can try to be creative, and work on a more detailed storyline, if I know the gameplay.

ps. You could do the reverse, take contemporary politics, and your task is to shut down riots for morally reprehensive stuff. Delivering on campaign promises, that includes prayer in schooll, charter school, aid for christian schools in africa and south america.stuff like that, stategy simulator.

The bible actually has a lot of content that you could make a cool, creative game out of. Most games are about killing and fighting, a game where you had to play through the lives of the prophets, maybe in a Skyrim style would be really cool: like instead of killing and fighting, you have to do the things that God commanded the prophets to do and it sort of works like a sim to live out their lives.

I lack any and all programming ability, so I can't really show you what I'm talking about.
