I’ve always liked this video, despite the possible drug references. The visuals are memorable, and the music is catchy. It reminds me of lying on the floor of my childhood home when I was a kid, thumbing through my parents’ vintage World Book Encyclopedia. In terms of the lyrics, I think they’re riffing off humanity’s tendency to idolize things. Contrasting human creations (cars, buildings, spacesuits, etc.) with things we didn’t create like volcanoes, planets, and the desire to be remembered after we’re gone. Much like what we idolize. Not to make a religious point, as they’re a secular act, but musing at the absurdity. A little levity can help keep things in perspective, which another reason why I enjoy their music.
