A new poll by Axios shows that Americans are rebelling against governors who are trying to prevent local governents and school districts from protecting their children and citizens from COVID-19 infections:

upload_2021-8-22_10-26-23.png

1. Support for state and local government mask requirements is strong, but few say it’s been required in the last few weeks.

Two-thirds (64%) support their state or local government requiring masks to be worn in all public places.

However, there are significant partisan differences, with the vast majority of Democrats (88%) and less than half of Republicans (40%) in favor of state or local mask mandates.

2. A strong majority support requiring masks in schools, and most don’t want state governments prohibiting local mask requirements.
...
The intrigue: In a new question this week, respondents were asked how much trust they place in conservative news — and about one in three of both vaccinated and unvaccinated Americans said they have a great or fair amount of trust.

Lol, I love the "tyranny" which seeks to circumvent the globalists' fait accompli (vaccine passports). Tyrannize me, freedom-loving Governors!

Looks like a real grass-roots rebellion against ignorance IMHO. People who don't get vaccinated are ignorant and/or stupid. The same can be said about people not wearing a small piece of cloth on their faces.

At some point in time, however, pro-maskers are going to have to get honest about wearing real masks (that is, K-95 or KN-95 masks) rather than small pieces of cloth on their faces.

I never have, and never will 1. Wear a mask for the kung flu. And 2. Get the vaccine, even if i ever caught covid.

I suggest that you pay attention to the people who have refused the vaccine and died horrible deaths because of their ignorance. I have read a number of stories about people begging for the vaccine after they have been admitted to the ICU, shortly before they (needlessly) died.

I hope and pray that you don't become one of those people.

BTW, why are you so afraid of a -> piece of cloth <- and/or -> a simple injection <- ?

Sensible adults with memories are afraid of GOVERNMENTS with unfettered power and control. They have long sought to circumvent our freedom under guise of "health" and in the end, if we let them, they will mass murder millions again (perhaps under guise of "the enemies of health" or some other banal sheep's clothing?).

Go here if you are tempted to utter the word "conspiracy":

DEATH BY GOVERNMENT: GENOCIDE AND MASS MURDER

I am not tempted to utter the word "conspiracy". My truth comes from the gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, not from biased, secular propaganda. Sensible adults have faith in God.

John 8:31-32, "Then Jesus said to those Judeans who had believed him, “If you continue to follow my teaching, you are really my disciples and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.

I think that's why they're so angry at the tyrants who are trying to usurp the powers of local governments. If it wasn't a matter of life and death and the safety of their children, I doubt if they'd care as much.

So you're angry at those governors who are grabbing power from local government and school boards?

You should be.

Lots of foolish people, in ICUs, begging for the vaccine, have to be told that it's too late for them.

The most salient examples of public officials trying for unfettered power and control. Those governors are trying to usurp powers reserved to local voters and the people they elect. It's what tyrants do.

What is "the kung flu"?

Many people have died wishing they had received the COVID-19 vaccine. IMHO, their ignorance, superstition, and fear are what are responsible for their deaths. It's too bad that a) the rest of their life was wasted and b) they didn't care enough about their family and friends to protect them (even if they didn't care about their own deaths).

In Texas and Florida, governors are trying to gain control of the governments and school boards elected by local voters.

Generalities mean zilch. Can you give specific examples (with evidence)?

Sure. Governor Abbot of Texas attempted to stop local communities from passing mask mandates. Fortunately, the State Supreme Court slapped him down on that attempt. He also tried to stop locally-elected school boards from protecting teachers and children by requiring masks. Fortunately, school boards are able to decide on dress codes, and that permitted them to stop that power grab as well.

Ron DeSantis, in Florida, tried the same things, but there, it seems that in many locales, the people are just ignoring his commands and doing what they need to do anyway.

I'm not sure this debate is worded correctly.

One side thinks the government should place mandate behind the mask wearing, and the other side wants it to be choice.

No one is stopping parents from insisting their child wear a mask. They can wear the mask if they feel it is important to their child. If I had younger children? I might be encouraging them to wear it in school. Lack of mandate doesn't stop that.

The rub comes when people are forced to have their children in masks, and claims they have science and data on their side. Yet, there really isn't any. There are countries - not third world either - that don't have the mask mandates for their school children. They claim science and data too. Many of those places were hit with the Delta variant hard before we did. Yet, they still don't mask their kids in school with a mandate.

I think people need to see this science and data that both sides claim is true, and let the marbles fall where they may.
