"How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!" (Romans 10:15)

Today, preaching at someone is considered arrogant, objectionable moralizing. Our politicians are quick to assure us that they would not dream of preaching at anyone. How utterly different is the perspective of the Word of God in saying, ‘How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace.’ [DONNELLY]

If God has already predestined who will be saved, then why evangelize? There are those who say that the Augustinian or Calvinistic view of predestination is one of those doctrines that nullifies the Great Commission and causes apathy in the church—that if predestination were true, then there is no need to evangelize or do missions. The mission is clear. In Matthew chapter twenty-eight, we find where Jesus gave His apostles the Great Commission. They were to "Go, and make disciples of all nations." In Acts chapter one, He echoes that command to the apostles in greater detail, saying that they would be His witnesses in Judea, Jerusalem, Samaria, and to the end of the earth. And here we are today, two thousand years later, looking back on what the Lord has accomplished through the preaching of the gospel. We can also look back and see many things that the church has done to hinder the proclamation of the good news. [SPROUL]

What is the nature of true peace? Many say that peace is simply the absence of war or conflict. However, in this sermon on Romans 10:15, Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones says that there is a better peace that God gives us. The Bible says that all men are in sin and are wholly corrupt. They fight each other because they are sinners who are alienated from God. This wrong relationship with God is the source of all strife and hostility amongst man, and until man is made right with God, they will not be made right with one another. This is why, in the Gospel, God not only provides a way for all men to be redeemed from their sins, but also to restore their relationship with God. This right relationship is what gives true and lasting peace because it gives us the knowledge that God loves us and has died for us. This peace shows us that we can rest in God and not ourselves. It shows us that while this world is passing away, we have a hope in the world to come when Christ returns to bring the new heaven and the new earth. What does this mean for believers now? This means that we should not look to any other source of peace than what God has given us in His Son. [LLOYD-JONES]
