So basically Americans troops and other countries troops weren't strong enough to prevent this. Sad!

Perhaps the Trump admin should not have seen fit to negotiate our withdrawal with these people?

If the negotiations had been competently handled, I would have been much more supportive.

If we had forced the Taliban and the Afghan government to negotiate. Rather than dealing with Taliban unilaterally and then leaving it to the Afghan government to work out. Because once the Taliban knew we were headed out the door, they had no motivation to deal with the legitimate government. They just had to mark time* until victory.

But much like North Korea, this was set up as a cheap diplomatic PR-move rather than a negotiation. Instead of Trump and Kim, we get Pompeo and Baradar, a Taliban leader the Trump Administration freed from a Pakistani prison in order to facilitate Trump's peace deal.

*They didn't just mark time though. It looks like they carried out their own competent negotiations with the regional governments so they fell faster than dominoes.

Kudos for finding a photograph newer than the one in the OP!

So? You think it's going to stop now or get worse?

I don't know. I suppose on the one hand, having more territory means there's a lot more opportunity to do wicked things like this. OTOH, now that they are the de facto government, and are clearly currying favor with other countries, they can't afford for this to become widespread. I suppose this was always something that was at the local commander level, rather than an official Taliban policy. (And as such, it will go on in places, even if the Taliban say it doesn't.)

Our troops had little confidence in the Afghan army soldiers the 20 years they were over there. Our troops would conquer some territory, turn it over to the Afghan Army, only to see them pull out giving it over to the Taliban. The Afghan Army soldiers said that they did not want to look like traitors to the people. Apparently associating with sinful Westerners with their objective morality/truth is much worse than associating with their barbaric Afghan brethren.

What is the provenance of the photograph?

Seems to be at least as old as from 2015.

Still disgusting tho.

Still misleading by implying it is current.

If the picture is not of what you say it is, then how many words is it worth? And which words?

The picture is from a street performance in what appears to be London. Video at this link:

The troops are strong enough to prevent it. But their commander-in-chief ordered them to let it happen by pulling out. Very sad indeed!

Well, Biden is president now, so he could have cancelled that negotiation just as he cancelled with the stroke of a pen so many other things Trump negotiated and accomplished. But Biden obviously had no objections, and still doesn't:
“The idea that somehow, there's a way to have gotten out without chaos ensuing, I don't know how that happens,” Biden told Stephanopoulos on Wednesday.

Youre changing the subject to the chaos of the withdrawal.

Thats diiferent from the big picture outcome of the Taliban running Afg, which is what this tread tried to be about.
