Thank God for the rest of the world

While US healthcare spending is continuing to rise ahead of inflation and was 17.7% of GDP through 2019 before COVID arrived,

a little more than one dollar in every six is going on what is normally counted as an essential expenditure.

Our life expectancy is not improving, inflation is picking up and drug costs are rising.

That's one hopeless situation

Unless you look at the best practices of other countries and there we have examples of how to get it right.

We need and should appreciate the rest of the world.

It works the other way too. Holywood is appreciated the World over, as is Disney World.

Years ago I asked a technician from Iran where he had been on holiday and he said he had travelled across the South Western United States and loved every minute of it.

The US gave the World airplanes before they would have arrived without us. Britain supplied everyone with CT scanners and MRI scanners, and really good (magnetron based) RADAR.

Name any country and it has benefitted from us and we have benefitted from it.

Let us not forget where all good things come from.

Even the Bible came from somewhere out there; in the rest of the World.

Please note that as the population of the World increased so did the food supply and variety.

Corn (Maize) is a gift from the US to the rest of the World, and so are our variety of turkeys, and a bunch of other things.

Coffee originated in Seattle, but I think before that it came from some forests in what is now Ethiopia.

Chocolate, wheat, bananas, the list is endless...

Very true.

The other advanced nations are showing the way and very happy to help us out as always, paying half as much for medical care as we do.

We have to pay so much more because we have 907 health insurance companies to fund as well.
