I never learned about the scripture at my parents house, never heard a thing about it.Became a christian some years ago in faith. Picked up a bible late last year, started bible studies in february or march I think. Eyeopening. Not big at reading, could use help understanding verses. And be made awere of the important books. Skipping around, not front to back. And of course love the social aspect, and shared values, and our fight for free speech, that is not awarded to all. Tossed off secular platforms that claim to be free, for speaking of God, and that some stuff sends you to hell. And of course, my relatives of atheists, do not like that I became a christian at all, so familyissues regarding that. And many other issues, as many other people. God bless you all, and good day

Sorry about the tension especially with the relatives. Unfortunately that comes with the territory. It can be lonely so you need to find some Christian fellowship. Keep your eyes open cause God will provide.

May God love and bless you!

I was taught to pray by a young German woman in Frankfurt, Germany, when I was probably four. I was about 16 or 17 when I learned what the German words meant. My family members didn't pray and didn't teach me about God. But the seed had been planted and it began to grow about 26 years later! I thank God for His mercy!

My most helpful Bible reading has been John 3 and John 10, and Romans 9, along with 1 John 5, and

2 Timothy 3
10 You, however, know all about my teaching, my way of life, my purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance, 11 persecutions, sufferings—what kinds of things happened to me in Antioch, Iconium and Lystra, the persecutions I endured. Yet the Lord rescued me from all of them. 12 In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, 13 while evildoers and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. 14 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, 15 and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

I love Ephesians 4:32 because God wants me to keep learning kindness!

Good advice, but not an option for me. I believe in the original stuff, hardline, and study the orthodoxy, the writings after the bible. No such church here. Statechurch. Fellowship online only. Do not know any christian people at all. All my associates in life are atheists unfortunately. But does not shake my fate at all, it is, and that is all it is.

I myself have never read through the bible Genesis to Revelations. I see no point. Some of it, to be honest bores me. I approach the scripture topically. The important books are well, all of the New Testament then for an example of how God interacted with His children the old. There is many great scriptures in the old Testament.

As Christ stated, Mat, 6:24. Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.”

The cross is you/us, the natural man, his thoughts, desires and impulses.

The Gospel is simple, we complicate it. God says, “Love your neighbor.” We reply, yeah but, what if?

Christ stated, “Jesus replied: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” Matt, 22:37.

We are saved by faith in God’s work through his Son, True, yet James reminds us;

James 2:14 What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble! But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead? Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect? And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” And he was called the friend of God. You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only. Likewise, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out another way? For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
When Abraham heard Sarah laugh at the thought of making love at the age of 90 and he being 100 he believed and performed. Had he not there would be no nation of Israel and no Christ from his lineage.

I would ‘Study to show myself approved of God,’ and take books by others that can be insightful with a ton of salt. We are responsible for our salvation, not the preacher or the priest. “Seek your own salvation.”

Rom, 14:12. So then each of us shall give account of himself to God.

Before the ‘Big Bang,’ there was God. He is reality.

Keep up the good fight. Expect opposition when you swim upstream.

Thank you. Newbie, do not know all your verses, mostly know the John stuff. Thanks for input. I learn. You tell the important parts. I cannot red the book, I do not finish books that are 200 pages, so impossible task. Watched all the movies though. If that counts. And you touch upon my interest, John the Baptist. Are you knowledgable of his apostles? Can you give me some pointers there?

Tell me about it, I use dictionary to understand the book. We have different faiths it seems, you seek Jesus, I seek God. Jesus died for us, did his job, fix your focus, God is what you seek, not Jesus. Jesus is a distraction. Thanks for the tips. The personal change has been done, ready to do God on one nowJesus was just a teching tool to mkae you find god.

mindfulzen, is there a Lutheran Church where you live? They can help you in Norwegian, instead of struggling with English.

Oh, I see. Because of the virus, they put fellowship online. I will pray for this virus to go away from at least Norway!

My mother didn't want us to bring any friends in her house and we moved to another location every year so we didn't have friends and there was no internet.

The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life.

That's why God gives us living faith that results in works.

It is my belief that Jesus has done his job, teach the old testament that people implemented wrong, and the new testament cam to be. Back in heaven, and is now a distraction for christians. All we should do, is to believe he died for our sins and live as he lived, in honesty, and do not be hypocritical as christians were before he came. Ultimately, all three are god. Jesus points to God, the holy spirit marks you as a lamb of God so the devil cannot touch you, then God claims you if you are worthy.

Statechurch here. few privates. Mainly run by foreign nationals in a select few cities. The statechurches have been shut down, opened up for guided tours for tourists for summer. But no normal service, and if there is a funeral, people are discouraged from coming. Please, only close family, the obituary says.

I think they may have gone online, a few priests here But I do not know, I meant I had to go online to find a community, that have a more conservative faith than the statechurch have. When the church are not even allowed to mention hell anymore, the church becomes pointless. Cannot market heaven without hell, cannot see light without darkness.

Infections going up a bit now, so if some private churches have opened up some, I expect them to have to shuttdown come september. R1,4 now, think they shut most down at r2 or 2,5 last time. It was at 1,1 not long ago.
