To all:

My experience with Eternal Security folk is that they do justify sin on some level when push comes to shove (even when they will talk at another point in promoting holy living). For they don’t believe a Christian is out because of one serious sin that goes unconfessed and or not forsaken. Yet, we know Adam and Eve committed just one sin each and led to spiritual death. We know Ananias and Sapphira each died and were condemned for committing just one sin each.

The problem with Belief Alone-ism or Eternal Security is that even if you say that we must live holy, each group defines that differently when the Bible clearly tells us about the various different serious sins that will condemn us if we do not confess and forsake them. It’s not just not murdering, not coveting, not lying, etc. but it is not loving God and others, too. We have to love the brethren. For he that does not love his brother is not of God according to 1 John 3:10. So if one fails to love their brother in this life (When they had opportunities to do so), they are not going to make it. This shows that Belief Alone-ism and or Eternal Security are simply false according to Scripture. God requires us to be holy and to be fruitful. To what degree? God does not say we need to be over abundantly in order to be saved. Matthew 25:21 simply says that the servant who was faithful over a few things was told to enter into the joy of His Lord. So we must be faithful over a few things in regards to being fruitful for God’s kingdom. It may not be a lot because we are faithful over a few things. So we do not need to be super stars. We just need to love God and love others and that involves doing and not just with our words alone.

Could you define one failing to love their brother?

It is written:

“So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs. He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep. He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.” (John 21:15-17).

Jesus said,
“But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” (Matthew 4:4).

Paul said,
“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” (Romans 10:17).

The author of Hebrews says,
“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”

May the Lord bless you even more abundantly, brother.

I really do wish were as easy as you say but that is just not the reality of what I read in the Bible, brother. I do take that you mean “repent” as to mean: “seek forgiveness with the Lord Jesus Christ over our sin or sins by way of prayer to Him.” This is how I see repentance if that is what you mean. But I think that if we do not forsake sin, and or overcome it at some point in our lives, then we are just paying lip service with no real intention of reforming or changing for the Lord. It would be like a man who cheats on his wife and tells her that he is sorry but he has no real intention of ever stopping or believing that he has the power to stop (even if he tried). This means he does not really love his wife and he loves his sin more than her. This needs to change for him, and only the Lord can heal his heart if he fights for it and He allows God to change His heart.

Only Modern Translations erroneously say that we all stumble in many ways in James 3:2.
The trusted Bible for hundreds of years (the KJB) says in James 3,

For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.” (James 3:2) (KJB).

So it says offend and not stumble. I notice this with Modern Translations. While I may use Modern Translations to help update the 1600’s English in the King James at times, they can at times push a gnostic belief because the gnostic’s denied the Incarnation and they denied the existence of sin or they denied the idea that sin will condemn their soul. James 3:2 is just one of many examples of Modern Translations pushing a gnostic belief.

James 3:2
πολλὰ γὰρ πταίομεν
polla gar ptaiomen
In many ways - for - we stumble

πταίομεν (ptaiomen)
4417 [e]
ptaió: to cause to stumble, to stumble
Original Word: πταίω
Part of Speech: Verb
Transliteration: ptaió
Phonetic Spelling: (ptah'-yo)
Definition: to cause to stumble, to stumble
Usage: I stumble, fall, sin, err, transgress.

To all:

People today can read the Bible and get the wrong understanding on it easily. But words in the Bible like in a dictionary can have a wide variety of meanings. One has to look at the context and the whole counsel of God’s Word to get a proper interpretation. If one has “justify sin glasses” on they already failed to begin with. But Modern Translations are problematic at best and these can easily be seen when comparing it to the King James Bible.

A Side By Side Comparison With
the KJV vs. Modern Translations

Clearly Shows That They are Inferior:

A simple side by side comparison shows that the KJV is superior to the Modern Translations in regards to the deity of Christ, the blood atonement, God's Word, etc.

  2. Matthew 18:11: "For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost."
  3. Matthew 23:14: "Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation."
  4. Mark 7:16: "If any man have ears to hear, let him hear."
  5. Mark 9:44: "Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched."
  6. Mark 9:46: "Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched."

  9. Luke 17:36: "Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left."
  10. John 5:4: "For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had."
  11. Acts of the Apostles 8:37: "And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God."
  12. Acts of the Apostles 15:34: "Notwithstanding it pleased Silas to abide there still."
  13. Acts of the Apostles 24:7: "But the chief captain Lysias came upon us, and with great violence took him away out of our hands,"
  14. Acts of the Apostles 28:29: "And when he had said these words, the Jews departed, and had great reasoning among themselves."
  15. Romans 16:24: "The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen."

Also, 1 John 3:10 says that if we do not love our brother, we are not of God. Other parts of the Bible tells us how we are to love the brethren (like John 21:15-17, James 2:1-9, and James 2:16).

Eternal Security is not true because the apostle Paul says,

“But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.” (1 Timothy 5:8).

An infidel is an unbeliever or heathen.

Infidel | Definition of Infidel by Webster's Online Dictionary

So if a father who is a Christian does not provide for his own child, he is worse than an unbeliever. Eternal Security will not save him.

I don’t think cheating on your wife is a very good analogy or at least not one that I can relate to. I’ve never felt inclined to cheat on my wife but I have struggled with sin after coming to Christ. And I do earnestly pray asking the Lord to help me to overcome temptation. I think that cheating on your wife is a more voluntary action whereas stumbling in sin can happen in a split second without any prior contemplation. Like saying a curse word for example or making an inappropriate dirty remark or dirty joke. I do get what your saying tho that if we continue to commit the same sin over and over while asking for forgiveness it can seem ingenuine but that’s not always the case. When I first came to Christ I had a lot of moments like this struggling with all kinds of sin that I had regularly partaken of and my heart was divided. Part of me yearned to do these things and then afterwards I would be so disgusted with myself because I wanted so badly for that yearning to be gone from me forever. I just kept coming to God asking for forgiveness and asking Him to take these sinful desires away from me and over time He did. Honestly if I had died in that previous state where I was still struggling with sin I don’t believe that I would’ve gone to the lake of fire because my heart was truly set on serving God, not on willfully sinning and trying to use Jesus as an excuse to escape the consequences. So in this respect I believe that it’s the heart’s intent to repent that is the determining factor not so much the actual success in escaping sin.

I think the only way to determine if a particular translation of the scriptures is superior to others is to compare it to the transcripts it was translated from, not by comparing it to other translations.

Or take those words that are in the KJV and not the NIV, and see if they're in the oldest manuscripts, or if they were added into the newer manuscripts. Also to see if the words in the KJV that don't match up with the NIV, match those in the oldest manuscripts or if they were changed in the newer manuscripts.

I think the only way to determine if a particular translation of the scriptures is superior to others is to compare it to the transcripts it was translated from, not by comparing it to other translations.

There are only two major lines of manuscripts (Which are primarily used today).

#1. There is the Textus Receptus line of manuscripts (the KJB).
#2. There is the Alexandria, Egypt line of manuscripts (Modern Translations).

If you were to Google the origin of Arianism (i.e. Anti-Trinitarianism), you would see Alexandria Egypt as the place of origin. Coincidentally scholars just so happen to agree that the manuscripts that come from most Modern Translations in use today just so happens to come from Alexandria, Egypt. This is why the one and only verse on the Trinity is not existent in the manuscripts for the Modern Translations. The gnostics did not believe Jesus was God, and thus they denied the Incarnation. 1 John 4:3 is one of the tests we as Christians are given to tell if a spirit is of the Anti-Christ or not. If that spirit does not confess that Jesus did not come in the flesh, they are not of God. Versions like the ESV says the test is to confess Jesus, and the NIV says to acknowledge Jesus. So they do not have the correct test. This aligns also with the gnostic belief that denies the Incarnation. Things like this are just the tip of the iceberg. I could go on for what seems like days on this topic. So it’s not like just one or two things that seem off. It’s so numerous it is frankly disturbing (to say the least). But people who have not done the study or research or remain open to it to even look will just look at me like I have four eyes. But that’s okay. People believe the way they do for their own reasons. For me, I don’t want half truths or a truth that is watered down. I want the truth fully and completely. I know I get that with the King James Bible.

Many think older means that it is better or more accurate or true. But do not pagan documents exist in the past that are super ancient? Does that mean they are true just because they are older than say even certain Bible manuscripts? No. So the older is better excuse does not mean anything. The true test is to do what is called a… fruits test. A side by side comparison between the KJB and the Modern Translations to see which one is superior in doctrine, truth, and morality. I believe if one is not biased and they are honest with themselves, they will side with the KJB.

Jeremiah 17:9 says, “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it.” Hebrews 3 warns, “But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.” (Hebrews 3:13). “Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways.” (Hebrews 3:10). Sin can harden our hearts to a point whereby we can depart from the living God. “Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.” Sin is like a cancer or a disease that must be completely eradicated from our lives (Important Note: For the purpose of not violating the rules in this particular thread, I am referring here to mortal sin or grievous sin that God clearly condemns within His Word and not non-mortal sin).

We must fight the good fight and lay hold on eternal life (1 Timothy 6:12). What fight? Ephesians 6 tells us to put on the whole armor of God so as to be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. One important piece of armor that many do not fight with is the breastplate of righteousness. We need to have it. For without holiness, no man shall see the Lord (Hebrews 12:14). This would even include me. If I falter, and do not stay true and strong to the Lord, I can slip down the wrong path and justify sin like all the rest. But I don’t want that. I want the Lord Jesus and His good ways. So we must fight. We need to deny ourselves and pick up our cross and follow Jesus.

When it comes to hand written copies of copies over a long course of time, if later copies of earlier copies have things added in like "these three are one" it was probably not written by the author.

And when it comes to a preferred translation, if there's a disputed word, like offend vs stumble, check the original Koine Greek to see for yourself how that word should have been translated.

Do you feel like you're walking on a tightrope over the Lake of Fire?

To those who have ears to hear:

People who hold to the “older is better” excuse when it comes to choosing which biblical manuscripts are better sounds more like blind faith and or “Historical Science,” vs. employing “Observational Science” (Like by doing a fruits test by comparing the KJB vs. the Modern Translations in an unbiased way).

Let’s see.

Modern Translations attack the one only verse that teaches the Trinity point blank.
Modern Translations attack the Incarnation which is a test to see if one is of God or not.
Modern Translations try to attack our Lord by the devil trying to be like the most High (i.e. the devil tries to put his name in place of God’s name, etc.).
Modern Translations try to attack the one and only way way to cast out persistent demons (Which is by fasting).
Modern Translations try to attack that you should study to shew yourself approved unto God.
Modern Translations try to attack the inerrancy of Scripture and the preservation of Scripture.

The list goes on and on.

To all:

We are told to work out our salvation with fear and trembling (Philippians 2:12).
We are told to fight the good fight of faith and lay hold on eternal life (1 Timothy 6:12).

We are told:

“...We are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end.” (Hebrews 3:13-14).

"Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life." (Jude 1:21).

"...be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life." (Revelation 2:10).

We are told to:

  1. Continue in the grace of God (Acts of the Apostles 13:43).

  2. Continue in the faith (Acts of the Apostles 14:22) (Colossians 1:23).

  3. Continue in his goodness, otherwise we can be cut off (just like the Jews were cut off) (Romans 11:21-22).

Heed therefore the Scriptures and make the Lord the Lord of your life today.
Make the Lord known by obeying Him and not your own ways.
Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.

So I encourage all who may feel distant from God to seek Him today and to pick up your cross, to deny yourselves, and follow Jesus. Don’t follow yourself. Don’t follow your sin. Don’t follow some great spiritual leader. Follow Jesus instead. He is the way, the truth, and the life and we can only do that through His Word. For there is no Eternal Security. Our only security is only in trusting in Christ and in obeying Him (according to the Holy Scriptures).

May you all be blessed in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Sincerely,

BL. Highlighter.

Ironically in saying the oldest translation is better than the newer translations, you're saying older is better.
