The Lord performed many unusual healings. On this occasion,
He restores a man’s hearing, then speaks to release his tongue,
after a sigh heavenward.

Mark 7:
32
Then they brought to Him one who was deaf and had an impediment i
n his speech, and they begged Him to put His hand on him.
33 And He took him aside from the multitude, and put His fingers in his ears,
and He spat and touched his tongue.
34 Then, looking up to heaven, He sighed, and said to him, Ephphatha,
that is, Be opened.

Paul teaches how the Holy Spirit works in prayer, released by sighing or groaning.
Note that
this is not the sign gift of speaking in tongues, requiring an interpretation.
These groanings are prayers directed heavenward.

Romans 8:
26 Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we
should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with
groanings which cannot be given words.
27 Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit, because
He makes intercession for the saints according to God.

When a saint walks in the Spirit, the burden of his fleshly limitation leads to more
groanings,
magnifying the Holy Spirit.
A saint should not be "comfortable in his own skin".

2 Corinthians 5:
1
For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have
a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
2 For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed with our habitation
which is from heaven,
3 if indeed, having been clothed, we shall not be found naked.
4 For we who are in this tent groan, being burdened, not because we want
to be unclothed, but further clothed, that mortality may be swallowed up by life.
5 Now He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who also has given us
the Spirit as a guarantee.

The sighs and groanings of the saints are always heard and acknowledged by
our heavenly Father.

Exodus 2:
23
Now it happened in the process of time that the king of Egypt died. Then the
children of Israel groaned because of the bondage, and they cried out; and their
cry came up to God because of the bondage.
24 So God heard their groaning, and God remembered His covenant with Abraham,
with Isaac, and with Jacob.
25 And God looked upon the children of Israel, and God acknowledged them.

In Ezekiel, those who were identified as sighing for Jerusalem received the
mark of the Lord on their foreheads.

Ezekiel 9:4 The Lord said to him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and put a mark on the foreheads of the men who sigh and cry over all the abominations that are done within it.

Sighing and weeping, making prayers and supplications over the activities of the world
is the ministry of intercession. Sighing and groaning stirs up the gift of the Spirit.

okay

i can see how that possibly relates to the Lord

but surely has no bearing on people, who have been given A commandment: “Love others as I have loved you”
The thread pertains to praying through difficult circumstances, in which the Holy Spirit helps us pray correctly through sighs, groaning and utterances.

NIV is faulty... audience matters:

Matthew 13:34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. 35 By this shall all [men] know that ye are My Disciples, if ye have love one to another.KJV

Jesus tells us specifically what the Holy Spirit does: Matthew 3:16, Matthew 12:28, John 14:15-17, John 14:26, John 15:26-27, John 16:7-15, John 20:21-23... so this is what Peter taught the circumcision. John 10:1-5 "My sheep hear My voice"
