Please pray for me to our Savior Jesus Christ, I am very afraid to go to work, I have low self-esteem, lack of self-confidence, and I am generally mentally weak, I am afraid that I will not be able to cope with the worst physical work and I am afraid to go and If you make an appointment for a job, I give up the meeting and cry at home.

I’m praying for you my friend. Sometimes life is just putting one foot in front of the other…keep moving and know that God loves you and wants to help you. Baby steps. Don’t think of the whole day ahead. Just think of the first thing you have to do and do that. Get dressed for example. Then have breakfast. Then leave the house. Then make your way to work. Break it up into little things and thank God after you finish each one of them. Small victories all through the day you can be thankful for. Before you know it, you’re already there doing it. One task at a time, then one day at a time. It’s what I do when I feel like this. You’re not alone in struggling through the day. Please keep going

Do not worry! God did not give you a spirit of fear! Instead, He gave you your own will! You are able to everything you set your mind to. Always remember that you ARE expected to make mistakes. After all, you live your life just like that every single day. We all do! How? We sin!! It's in our human nature, yet God is there to always forgive us, because He understands our nature. You have to start with this mentality, and everything else will follow suit. Do not fear going to work either. What you're afraid of can be many things, but do not underestimate yourself either. Experience can only come from trying. All you have to do is try and see. If you are too afraid to be employed, try volunteering at work places! This way, you will not feel the same amount of stress and pressure that you would when you are being paid to work. If you see that this is a work that you can get behind, then by all means go ahead and apply for similar jobs! There is always a way with God, but if you do not try, you will always fail. So I say, go ahead and try even when you do not succeed. Before you know it, everything will have worked out for you. Remember what Jesus taught: Faith, Hope and Love. Walk by these and you'll never falter.

It gets worse in old age. Work if you are young and strong.

Not for everyone. I grew in confidence as I reached my 40's then 50's and was much less stressed out despite having 100 times the responsibility that I had. I attribute it to my faith in the Lord.

I pray for you to stop having these fears of work and to grow in confidence through your faith in the Lord, not in yourself. Trust the Lord and He will provide.

My dad is 84 and in an assisted living facility after a major stroke almost killed him. His confidence about being able to work is not increasing with age. He can not remember how to use a computer. My mother died this year after long term dementia.

I injured my back years ago. It did not totally heal. While I have enough, I do not have the confidence I did when I was younger and able to work 60 hours a week. I was a servant and able to help people. I do not feel good about losing the strength of my youth.

Based on the condition of the elderly I saw while visiting my mom in the nursing home, it gets worse with age. My dad told stories of his neighbors losing their balance and falling. Some of them died as a result of a fall. He uses a walker to avoid falling. It may get worse with age, if one does not die first. Most people do not get rejuvenated at 84.

My former boss got his PhD at 79 years old and went back to work teaching leadership to the Eastern Orthodox church. That was 10 years ago, and he still is teaching now at 89. He was a Executive VP and head of our PC division back when we did the actual manufacturing for HP and Lenovo computers. I also know a doctor in my current town who is 92 years old and still practicing medicine as a licensed orthopedic surgeon, and one of my own doctors is 84 and is father still practices medicine in India at age 98.

It takes more to keep active and healthy in older age, but we are not doomed. My Mom is one person who thinks she is so old that she cannot do anything anymore so she doesn't try, but my nextdoor neighbor is 94 and still mows his own lawn, and last summer when we had a storm come through, he helped my 22 year old son cut down the tree with a chain saw. I'm not so blessed, but I'm long from giving up. I've been totally disabled and wheelchair ridden since 2015, and just last week submitted my application for seminary. I'm determined to become a hospital chaplain, Lord willing, despite my limitations, even if it is only part time and volunteer basis. As long as there is life in me, I will be working for the Lord til my time is done.

Not that this is possible for everyone, but with advancements in modern medicine, people are going a lot longer and doing a lot more than just 20 years ago, so my point is to encourage everyone not to give up. God can still use your talents for a long time to come.

I wonder if there is some kind of painful trauma and maltreatment from
your past That is making you feel so low in confidence. If so, I pray you will be led to healing from that.

It seems to me the underlying problems are the real concern. But I do pray that you will get courage and confidence and do a great job, with holy angels helping you every step of the way.

Good for you. A Japanese doctor claimed he was a longevity expert. He proved it by living to be 105. A Seventh Day Adventist doctor was a vegan. He lived to be 104, was assisting in heart surgery when he was in his 90’s. He was still driving at 100.

One of my grandfathers lived to be 70, the other was playing tennis in his 70’s and lived to be about 85. My uncle Ben was the president of an auto parts company. He retired at 65 and moved to Florida. He was playing tennis at the age of 65 and dropped dead on the tennis court of heart failure. Most first heart attacks are fatal. I remember eating at a steam restaurant with he, my aunt and my cousin.

I got a BS in computer information technology when I was 41. I worked a few years as a tech assistant, then the dot com crash and I was laid off. It is better, if a dedicated young person gets the advanced training. My mind is mainly trained in subjects outside of tech.

I bought stocks, bonds when the YTM was 5%-6% and real estate. Inflation devalues the dollar.

am very afraid to go to work

May I ask why you are afraid to go to work?
Is it meeting new people or actually going outside that makes you afraid?
How do you attend church?
May I suggest that you seek help for what ever your fear is.
Also may I suggest that you join your churches meet and greet team, welcoming people into the church building.

@LoricaLady
My father destroyed me mentally in my childhood, I am a psychic wreck. I also have a very sensitive nature. I am generally not fit to live in this world, God the Father should finish my life right now, for Jesus I am worth something, for this world I am garbage. My life is torment and suffering.

@Tolworth John
Slight social phobia, introverted character, slight anxiety, very prone to stress for any reason.

I tried to go to a Pentecostal church, but I was afraid to go to service, and I was already talking to an elder. I am afraid of criticism and non-acceptance, I do not accept what I look like

This is not the world for me, I do not fit here, God the Father should end my life long ago.

I'll assume you're young. I was much the same and while things aren't perfect for me they have improved. I'll pray for you, but also offer some advice.

It's like the second poster said, all you can do is improve little by little. Confidence is built up and earned, not given (despite what our modern age tells us) and we need to put in the effort in order to have the harvest.

Judging by your most recent post I might seriously suggest Christian therapy. God does not want your life to end even if you think it deserves to end. Try to find a confessor or therapist who can help you work through these mental blocks you have.

Always remember God is incredibly patient with us and our failings. Never cease to acknowledge your failings and strive to overcome them.

Do you do any sort of physical activity? Working out and the like?

Praying for you dear soul. Reaching out for help takes a degree of courage and self-awareness. You did the right thing. We're bearing you up in prayer.

I used to do various sports, today I do not want to live, I want to quit, so I have no strength for anything.

Give it a day and sleep on it. If you feel the same way tomorrow give it another day and sleep on it again. If these thoughts keep persisting and don't go away, seek professional help. Expense or your personal sense of shyness doesn't matter if it means actually getting beyond these thoughts to live life. In the meantime focus on doing what you know you need to do now, even if it is the most minor of things. Physical activity in particular is a great distraction and you don't have to do sports especially in the state you're currently in.

If I could recommend anything, just go for a walk or jog for a set amount of time each day. Clear your mind and think about nothing while listening to a podcast or music. Then increase the amount of exercise you're doing next week by a fraction. For me personally I started out this year doing something trivial on the treadmill. Twenty minutes at a low speed setting. Now I'm up to a high speed setting for twenty minutes with an additional fifteen to twenty minutes at a medium setting. I've also started strength training (which builds confidence as you see the results and feel the hard work after each session).

What do you spend your time doing all day? Literally crying? Or just trivial things like games?

I check the news about the coming 7 year tribulation and end times in general, helping my family, praying to Jesus, and reading God's Word.

I don't play games or listen to music, I don't watch movies. None of these things because:

1 John 2
15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever

That's good. Focus on something practical that will distract you from these thoughts and will build up confidence. With time a lot of doubts begin to fade if we're improving. If these thoughts persist please consider seeking professional help.

Edit: Although on reflection do you do anything for fun? Something that you do simply because you enjoy it for the sake of it? We always need leisure and we can't be on one hundred percent of time.

God bless.

For fun? No i really have no strength for life I do everything by force, I force myself.

I have to go to work, it would change a lot, otherwise I will end up mentally, but you see my situation, a vicious circle.
