What they "screamed" about was her unwillingness to allow the Minority Leader to appoint members of his own party to the committee in the customary manner, even though there were to be more Democrats on this supposedly "bipartisan" and impartial committee than Republicans.

Kevin McCarthy swallowed that injustice, but Pelosi still insisted upon controlling the selection of ALL the members herself. There is no way to justify that kind of behavior when it's supposed to be a fair investigation of something that concerns all Americans.

You missed his point. The original proposal was an outside investigation, much like the 9/11 Commission. It was to be truly bi-partisan and would not have been controlled by Congress, instead each party would get to select the members. This was blocked by Republicans, my recollection is that only a couple of House Republicans voted for it (Cheney and Kinzinger -- the ones that are actually claimed to be Democrats in sheep's clothing by many Republicans) and then Republicans in the Senate killed the proposal.

You know what could have solved that? The independent commission with an equal number of Democratic and Republican appointees. But the Republicans objected to that idea.

Honestly, I think that's not correct to say.

Would you please offer us something that verifies your claim? Thanks.

Text - H.R.3233 - 117th Congress (2021-2022): National Commission to Investigate the January 6 Attack on the United States Capitol Complex Act

Section 5 is the make up of the committee. The Speaker and Senate Majority Leader together appoint the Chair, House Minority Leader and Senate Minority Leader together appoint the Co-chair, and then the Speaker, House Minority Leader, Senate Majority Leader and Senate Minority Leader all get to appoint 2 people each. And current members of the government wouldn't have been able to serve on the commission. It as apolitical as suc ha thing could have been. And as for Republicans rejecting it, well all you need to do is look at the votes for the bill creating the commission.

Honestly, I think it is.

The Republican Party will not cooperate with the Committee because they know what happened. They have denied their own experience of January 6th.

They experienced it. They were there. We all know this because we saw them in the chamber live on tv hiding under their seats.

Also the fact that most of the power would be shared between the Chair and Co-chair on the commission; for example, the approval of both would be needed to call witnesses before the commission.

Because two of the members he wanted to appoint were biased and corrupt.

Thanks. With your help, I looked at what I could find, also, and it looks like it was McCarthy himself who opposed the commission as originally proposed by the two-man committee appointed to negotiate a formula...and later came the imbalance which guaranteed that the final product (when it comes) won't have a claim to impartiality or bipartisanship.

Yes, it would be really funny. He'd either pout like a toddler or be so tickled at the attention that secrets and delusions would flow like a fountain. The worst case scenario is that he just wouldn't show up.

What kind of world do we live in when Donald not showing up for an event is the worst case scenario?
